Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja

It is a very boring movie. The story is repeated several times. If we talk about acting then it was a bit over dramatic except Jackie Shroff. The songs were also very strange but the title song was the best. The movie had a huge starcast : stalwarts of that time but still movie didn't work. Not one of the best performance of sridevi .Anil was okay. Anupam kher looked very funny being a villain in the movie .It was made very costly at that time but it created heavy loss in the bollywood and to Boney kapoor. The movie was too long that it had two intervals. Overall a long,dull and clichéd story movie.

Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja review :

First the positives - Anil Kapoor was earnest as the chor Romeo while Sridevi looked absolutely ravishing especially in her red chiffon saree in the seductive 'Jaane wala ruk jaa' number added at last minute. Her sensuous grooves reminded the audience of her Mr. India's 'Kaate nahi kat te' song. Oooh lala!!

Now the negatives - Jackie Shroff was given a raw deal. Anupam Kher's double role villain Jugraan paled in comparison to Mr. India's Mogambo. Paresh Rawal was wasted. Laxmikant Pyarelal's music was underwhelming, ahem!!

A follow up to the super hit Mr India (1987) and an extremely hyped and manipulated movie by Boney Kapoor; Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (RKRCKR) had a pathetic story and screenplay by the normally competent Javed Akhtar. He had borrowed elements from his own flop movie Zamaana (1985). The high production costs were also another reason for its failure. Anil Kapoor expected RKRCKR to make him next superstar after Bachchan but the audience proved too smart for him. After all, yeh public hai yeh sab jaanti hai..

Anil had allegedly purchased the Filmfare best actor award for Beta (1992) just a month before the release of RKRCKR but Dimple Kapadia, the presenter, blew his lid away when she declared his name as winner without even opening the envelope. Oops!!!

The film's highlight was the train roberry sequence which was superbly choreographed but an overconfident Boney and Satish Kaushik (in his directorial debut) boasted that it was bigger than Sholay (1975). Audience quickly did the comparison and RKRCKR failed. Miserably!!

This is one movie which bombed so badly it was out of Minerva in six weeks flat. Never got a re-release as well.. Gone and forgotten forever!!

Anil kapoor , sridevi starrer this movie roop ki rani choro ka raja , countinue superhit movies break it Anil kapoor biggest superstar after amitabh bacchan and before shahrukh khan because he done many superhit movies before this movie and bonny kapoor made this movie flop in the bix office and superstar Anil kapoor stop his superhits.

Anil Kapoor spend a lot of money on this disaster, which was the most expensive film of it's times

The film featured Anil and Jackie again after hits like RAM LAKHAN(1989) and many more great films

Surprising this time and again in TRIMURTI(1995) their pairing gave disasters

If you see the film has everything to be a hit, It has Anil-Jackie and Sridevi together, then it had several high prodn values But ?

The story a long lost brothers theme already which was done to death by then In fact the storytelling too somehow falters, there are too many gimmicks and Anil and Sridevi dressed up in different disguises

The direction by Satish Kaushik leaves a lot to be desired Music is okay

Anil does his Tapori goodhearted thief again and does well Sridevi too does her done before act well Jackie repeats his good cop brother role Anupam Kher does well in the negative role and is okay in the other role which is ended at the start Amongst rest Johny Lever gets boring

The film is a very typical mainstream masala potboiler which just gets worse as it goes by and how. Towards the end it really becomes such a mess it's almost completely unwatchable. But Sridevi, its leading lady, makes everything in it less important to matter and be discussed in the first place. The film could be edited just to create a collection of Sridevi's moments on screen, as a tribute to her wonderful charisma. A gifted comedienne, Sridevi owns the film and makes the audience laugh all through, with her hilarious impersonations throughout, including one of a street-smart Madrasi woman or a Japanese geisha. It's evident how much fun she seemed to have playing this role; it shows big time, but her ability to be so uninhibited in front of the camera is even more impressive. It's too bad the film does not live up to her talent, as it had often happened in her career and film choices.
