Historical portrait of Padre Kino during his time in Sonora and California

Feeling the hour of his death is near, the Franciscan Jesuit, Father Eusebio Kino recapitulates the events that encouraged him to travel from Italy to New Spain, where he joined the expedition of Admiral Isidro de Atondo as a cartographer and missionary.

This chronicle about the life of Padre Kino during the time he was in New Spain depicts how Father Eusebio established missions over part of western Mexico, helping indigenous people to learn about agriculture, farming and raising livestock.

In his passage through California and Sonora, Kino witnesses the mistreatment of the Spaniards towards the indigenous people, a situation that sometimes turns against his evangelizing mission.

Excellent acting and production values, if not quite as riveting as Jerico, an earlier film with a similar subject. Fans of The Mission or The End of the Spear or Dances With Wolves will enjoy Kino.
