Legendary drive-in movie critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs (who currently has a show on the Shudder streaming service called The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs) has a Patreon account called The Lost Drive-In, where they share the hosting segments from his days on MonsterVision, a TNT show he hosted from 1996 to 2000, and Joe Bob’s Drive-in Theater, which he hosted on The Movie Channel from 1986 to 1996… and one of the recently shared hosting segments might have unearthed a bit of interesting trivia about the 1989 Jean-Claude Van Damme classic Kickboxer! Specifically, it seems that the makers of Kickboxer might have, at one point, been planning to include a sister character and to put her in jeopardy.
Joe Bob wasn’t the only host presenting movies on The Movie Channel in the ’80s. One of his fellow hosts was Michele Russell, who also had some acting credits to her name.

Chicago – When is comes to appreciating life, one great practitioner is Anson Williams, better known as the character “Potsie” from the 1970s TV series “Happy Days.” Williams wants to remind everybody to “pay it forward,” as he does in highlighting his unlikely mentor in his new book, “Singing to a Bulldog.”
The focus for Anson Williams is on Willie Turner, a custodian he worked with in a department store. Willie gave the 15-year-old Williams life lessons, as he was navigating the road to being an actor. Even though Turner was illiterate and a drinker, he stuck with and guided Williams, which provided the impetus for the young actor and singer to find his path.

There’s no denying that music has proven itself to be an integral part of our favorite horror films, to the point that the iconic scores for films like Halloween and Psycho are as important an aspect of the movies as the stories and characters themselves. But we’ve already talked about our favorite horror scores here on Fearnet in the past, so that’s not quite what we’re here to discuss today.
Ya see, many horror movies over the years have been given their very own songs, which have either been featured within the movies or played over their end credits. It’s not something that often happens nowadays, but back in the 80s and 90s, it wasn’t all that uncommon for studios to task musicians with writing and performing original songs for their horror movies. Ah, the good old days.

Bruce is their preacher and the show leads them through songs about their lives; the good and the bad, their loves, losses and faith. Wellington, Jan 4: A parent in Utah, was so shaken up by the usage of Elvis Presley's song in musical 'All Shook Up' that the school got the production cancelled.
The American jukebox musical borrowed from King of Rock and Roll's songbook and put a modern twist on William Shakespeare's play 'Twelfth Night.'
In the musical, Presley sings about a sweetheart whose "lips are like a volcano that's hot" in his 1957 song, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Sandy Riesgraf, a spokeswoman for the Jordan School District said that Presley's lyrics were deemed as "too sexually suggestive" and a scene suggesting cross-dressing was also deemed offensive.

West Jordan, Utah — A Utah school district has cancelled a high school play that uses Elvis Presley's music after a complaint about a sexually suggestive song.
Jordan School District officials in suburban Salt Lake City announced plans Wednesday to scrap Herriman High School's production of "All Shook Up," saying it could be offensive.
It was not immediately clear which song prompted the decision.
District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf (Reis'-graff) says a person approached the district and complained about the play, which is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."
Riesgraf says administrators reviewed the script and determined it didn't meet standards put in place in August after another high school play came under scrutiny.
The Deseret News reports students had already started rehearsing the play, which was scheduled for February. Riesgraf says a replacement will be selected.

Not long ago on Twitter, Bret Easton Ellis said that Matthew Bomer couldn't possibly play the testosterone-spewing lead role in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey because he's openly gay. I personally find that statement more incendiary than insightful, but let's move onto a more interesting concern: Who should our gay actors be portraying on the big screen? Here are nine gay thespians who'd be perfect on screen in these real-life roles. Jane Lynch, hold onto your seat.

"I've been writing for the last year and the songs have been gushing out," he told TheInsider.com. "I'm doing this mostly to get it out of me because it's cathartic but I also think the songs are pretty f*cking good. I've been writing with Sia and I'm just so excited for people to hear what we've been working on!"
And you finally can hear the goods as Drive, the lead single off his upcoming Ep of the same name...

All shook up? Ready to retrace the steps of your favorite hunka hunka burnin' love? Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, which means he would've turned 77 this year, not really that old at all. He was the King of Rock & Roll, the Godfather of Graceland and an icon whose legend will live on forever. Here are a handful of places where you would have seen Elvis Presley in Los Angeles back in the day … and a few where you can honor his memory today. (Yes, at least one of them involves a peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich.)

This gorgeous and iconic hotel might be cited ad nauseum as the "Pretty Woman" hotel, but long before the hooker fairy tale put this place on the movie map, the King called it home when he was busy making movies at Paramount Studios. Years later, John Lennon...

Insert your favorite Elvis Presley song lyric here. (Sample: "All shook up!") Variety reports that Eric Bana will play The King in the new indie film 'Elvis & Nixon,' about the 1970 meeting between Presley and President Richard Nixon. Danny Huston is in talks to play the president for writer/director Cary Elwes, who's making his behind-the-camera debut. The Elvis/Nixon summit -- and its famed photographic proof -- remains a cultural oddity to this day; the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum still gets more requests for the pic than any other Nixon still. The pair met in 1970 at the behest of Presley, who wanted to offer his services to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This will be the second project to directly tackle the meeting: a 1997 film called 'Elvis Meets Nixon' detailed the same story. [Variety]

The 2010 Nobel Prizes were given out a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve already got next year’s top contender for best chemistry: Michael Feinstein and Cheyenne Jackson, for making their dynamite duo debut at Carnegie Hall.
Michael Feinstein and Cheyenne Jackson
(Linda Lenzi/Broadway World)
Called “The Power of Two,” this electrifying evening last Friday was based on their cabaret act from June 2009 at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency in New York City. For Carnegie, however, this charismatic combo added about a half-dozen songs, backed by a swingy, 17-piece band, masterfully music-directed by John Oddo, who also did the arrangements.
“The Power of Two” is a study in contrasts. Feinstein, 54, is the king of cabaret, a music historian and host of PBS’ American Songbook series. Jackson, 35, is the Broadway matinee idol of All Shook Up and Finian’s Rainbow and a TV star of 30 Rock and Glee.

Picture it: You're in the midst of a stellar audition. You're in the moment, creating a memorable character, capturing every nuance and beat of a beautifully written script. Then the unthinkable happens: You flub a line. What to do next?"You should own it," says casting director G. Charles Wright, whose credits include "That '70s Show" and "The Middle." "Most actors, because they have stage experience, when they mess up a line, they just keep going because that's what you would do on the stage. But [you should] really take a second and go back a line and say, 'Let me take that back.' That's part of being present."Actor Kurt Long, who has appeared on "Bones" and "How I Met Your Mother," notes that he usually uses this approach, because "most [casting directors] are very critical about the word and what's been written down there for the character." That said, he acknowledges...

The term "Triple Threat" fits Cheyenne Jackson to a (tight black) T, as the multi-talent has shown he can sing, dance, and act on stage, TV, and films.
He turns 35 today, and it appears that he had a good time this weekend.
As we ponder the possibilities of what a birthday weekend with Cheyenne and pals would entail, let's take a look back at his career, which has steadily grown in scope and visibility since his first Broadway experience 8 years ago.
2002
Cheyenne makes his Broadway debut as the understudy to both male leads in Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Cheyenne is the standby to play Radames (here opposite Deborah Cox) in Aida (pic: Joan Marcus)

Charlie Williams is a dynamic young dancer who’s making his Broadway debut in Memphis, the new multi-Tony-nominated musical by Joe Dipietro and David Bryan, and he sure knows how to put his best feet forward. Thanks to his fancy footwork, the Astaire Awards nominated him as part of the best male dance ensemble on the Great White Way.
What’s more, Williams boasts the picture-perfect looks of an Abercrombie & Fitch model, and has been named “Broadway Hottie of the Month” by Gaylifenyc.org. The 5-foot-9 charmer, who is refreshingly open and out as a bisexual man, also was crowned ''Mr. Broadway'' at ''The Broadway Beauty Pageant.'' Plus, he will be getting more exposure as the pinup poster boy for "Broadway Bares' Xx: Strip-opoly,'' Broadway Cares' annual burlesque show of sexy dancers on June 20 at the Roseland Ballroom.
Back at Memphis, Williams, 22, is the only cast member who...

Cheyenne Jackson, Michael Urie
When asked to comment on Ramin Setoodeh's recent article about how openly gay actors can't convincingly play heterosexual roles, Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Urie straight-out called the Newsweek entertainment writer an ''asshole'' who's ''unconscionable.'' The two out actors were speaking at a talkback after Monday's performance of The Temperamentals, Jon Marans' acclaimed Off-Broadway play about early gay rights activists in the 1950s.
After moderator Frank DeCaro asked Jackson what he thought of Setoodeh's piece, the Broadway star of Finian's Rainbow and TV guest star of 30 Rock said:
It was infuriating on so many levels. Not only does [Setoodeh] say that a gay man can't play straight, he got personal, picking on Sean Hayes in Promises, Promises, [pointing out] certain scenes where he thinks [Sean] is stiff and uncomfortable. And then he picks on Jonathan Groff, who just came out. He's a young teen heartthrob [in Glee]. He's so talented and...
