Dragons are terrifying creatures in all forms of media unless obvious efforts have been made to make them otherwise. Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon has a playful side, and Raya and the Last Dragon's Sisu is unique in her charm and humor, but these outliers are forgotten in the presence of the truly powerful dragons. Shows like House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones have shown what damage dragons can cause, but anime can explore these destructive beasts further with no limitations.

Anime dragons can exercise their power by destroying small opponents or objects, moving upward of buildings and towns, and even threatening entire continents, worlds, and beyond. Not all of the most powerful anime dragons come from the most popular anime, but a show's reception doesn't reflect how impactful a dragon, or any other creature for that matter, is within that universe.

Exclusive: Shout! Studios has acquired North American rights to Proximity, a sci-fi thriller that marks the feature directorial debut of Eric Demeusy. The Emmy-winning VFX veteran is behind the main title designs of the likes of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things as well as Tron: Legacy.

Ryan Masson (Good Girls), Highdee Kuan (You), Shaw Jones, Christian Prentice (Mank) and Don Scribner (The Guide) star in the pic, which will roll out in 10 of the top 20 markets as part of a day-and-date release sometime this year, The deal includes theatrical, video-on-demand, digital, broadcast and home entertainment rights in the U.S. and Canada.

In Demeusy’s script Masson plays Isaac, a young scientist working for Nasa, who is is abducted by extraterrestrials. When no one believes his story, he becomes obsessed with finding proof that leads him on a journey of discovery.

Demeusy also produces with Andrea Dondaville and Kyle McIntyre.

To each fiery cinema individualist his own honorial DVD box set: here we have a reacquaintance . or initiation, for the babies of the Reagan/Thatcher era . with the unique howl of Derek Jarman, dead in 1994 from AIDS at the age of 52, a career attenuated by the very same fate that ended up giving it such amperage. You'd never know it, but there was a time when British filmmakers, emboldened by punk culture, fueled by hatred for Thatcherite conservatism, and funded by the BFI and the new Channel Four, made outrageous, experimental, high culture vs. low culture collision movies, doped on structuralism and gender-bending and period-picture mockery.
