Another season of Only Murders in the Building has come to a close, but not before the acclaimed Hulu series revealed who would be next season's murder victim. Unfortunately, the sweet, old doorman Lester was killed off in the Season 4 finale, with the show's core trio finding him dead in the Arconia's fountain.
While speaking with TVLine about the decision for Lester to be Season 5's murder victim, Only Murders in the Building co-creator/showrunner John Hoffman refused to confirm or deny if the Arconia doorman's death is in any way linked to the disappearance of the dry-cleaning king of Brooklyn, Nicky "The Neck" Caccimelio. "You have to wonder, dont you? There are a lot of areas that weve been talking about [in the writers room] looking at the life of someone who was...

In effect, “Only Murders in the Building” is streaming entertainment’s version of a charm offensive. The multi-genre, multi-generational Hulu original has something — and someone — for everyone. Its three leads are, for the most part, inherently likable. Steve Martin and Martin Short have been building goodwill for decades, and Selena Gomez has been accruing a loyal fanbase of young’uns since her purple-clad co-star was Barney. Sprinkle in affable recurring guests like Nathan Lane, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jackie Hoffman, Jayne Houdyshell, and Tina Fey — all in the first few seasons — and “the Building” becomes a hot spot for big-name talent.
But the series’ intrinsic appeal goes well beyond its popular cast. A perpetual fall/winter season provides plenty of occasions for warm and cozy looks. The Arconia’s Upper West Side origins offer inspiring interior design opportunities. Heck, even the story allows viewers to pick and choose what to focus...

Friends. South Park. Frasier. Family Guy. Some of TV’s longest-running sitcoms premiered in the 1990s, and remain relevant and beloved if not still producing new episodes today. But a decade is a long time, executives try a lot of ideas to fill their schedules, and since broadcast TV programming is kind of a zero-sum game, far more sitcoms premiered than ever found an audience. The question is: which ones deserved better?
A word on methodology here: I took the term “forgotten” very literally. That means I didn’t consider any ‘90s sitcom that’s streaming on a legitimate pay or subscription platform; any ‘90s sitcom that lasted more than one season; and any of which only the pilot is available to watch — illegitimately, since pilots have to jam in so much exposition that judging a show’s quality by that episode alone doesn’t offer an accurate picture of where it aspires to go.

The cast and creators of Only Murders in the Building reunited for a For Your Consideration event in Los Angeles on Thursday, where they opened up about season three’s hottest topic: Meryl Streep.
Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Michael Cyril Creighton, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and showrunner John Hoffman joined moderator Judd Apatow for a screening and conversation at the Academy Museum; Streep was also scheduled to take part in the event but came down with the flu.
In season three, Streep’s newcomer character, Loretta, begins a romantic relationship with Short’s Oliver Putnam, in what Apatow joked was the sexiest performance of Short’s career.
“I will tell you honestly, I’ve known Meryl a little bit through the years but on the first day of shooting, I was a little unusually nervous for me, because I was thinking, ‘I’m doing a two-person scene with Meryl Streep,...

In an occurrence as semi-regular as the El Nino weather pattern, television will make one of its frequent attempts to find a place for Bonnie Hunt, the actress whose star quality remains an object of network executive faith, despite the many, many canceled shows that would seem to suggest otherwise. Hunt's long history of short-lived TV shows—Grand, Davis Rules, The Building, Bonnie, Life With Bonnie, and The Bonnie Hunt Show among them—will likely be mentioned with tongue-in-cheek, self-effacing humor should her new project for ABC make it to the actual series order and press junket stage, and ...
