Both Disney Plus and Hulu are two of the greatest streaming platforms of all time, and soon they will be joining hands in a merger. According to the latest reports, the Mouse House is pressing ahead to completely integrate the other streamer into Disney+ for all subscribers, planning to launch a unified streaming app for both by 2026 (via Business Insider).
While this would have Hulu replacing the Star tile on the Disney+ app, the standalone app will completely shut down after the full merger, per reports from @CultureCrave on X. But until that comes to pass, the real intriguing part is: Which shows will be hopping onto the Mouse House streamer after the complete merger? While it’s not known for sure yet, here are the top 10 Hulu shows that are expected to switch lanes with their merger. Dive in!

Tim Russ' first screen credit came in 1985 when he appeared in an episode of the rebooted "The Twilight Zone." The following year, he starred in his first major motion picture, the actioner "Crossroads," opposite Ralph Macchio, followed by a small role in "Death Wish 4: The Crackdown," a truly absurd actioner with a spectacular death-by-bazooka scene. Russ then worked with Clint Eastwood on the film "Bird" and expanded his TV credits with roles on shows like "Amazing Stories," "Cop Rock," "Alien Nation," and "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air."
His most high-profile acting gig finally came in 1995 with the debut of "Star Trek: Voyager," in which he portrays the Vulcan security officer Tuvok. Tuvok, as /Film has noted before, is the best Vulcan in the franchise's history. He, unlike Spock, has never been given to human-like bursts of emotion and doesn't have all that pesky internal conflict. Instead, he's a...

Michael Bay helmed five Transformers movies, all of which were huge box office hits. Critics didn't love them, and fans were mixed, but the "least" successful of his films made $605 million, with the most successful grossing $1.1 billion.
Bumblebee, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Transformers One didn't find the same level of commercial success, even with better reviews, but is Bay the right person to restore the property to its former box office glory?
According to Puck (via SFFGazette.com), the filmmaker is developing a new Transformers movie at Paramount Pictures that he intends to direct. While he wiped his hands with the franchise after Transformers: The Last Knight underperformed in 2017, his recent movies haven't come close to Transformers numbers.
The site explains, "Bay approached the studio last year to come back as a hands-on producer and possibly director, and he's got writer Jordan VanDina working on a script. It's...

Despite what The Discourse™ may have you believe, there is superhero media that exists outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, superheroes existed long before the MCU ever did. Shocking, we know.
In all seriousness, any true-blue superhero fan likely didn't begin their obsession with the MCU or even with Marvel, potentially. The world of metahumans extends far and wide, from comic book favorites like DC and Dark Horse to entirely original creations from other mediums. However, with the cultural omnipresence of the superhero blockbuster, it can often feel like the MCU is all there is, to the point that the phrase "superhero fatigue" was coined to describe folks' exhaustion with the genre.
To put it bluntly, superhero fatigue isn't really a thing, in the same way "comedy fatigue" or "horror fatigue" aren't a thing. People have loved superheroes for over a century and will continue to love them,...

Reviving beloved cartoon shows is obviously nothing new. After all, there have been numerous versions of The Flintstones, Animaniacs briefly came back and Garfield the cat has recently appeared in movies, TV shows and at least one baffling Canadian pizza restaurant.
But the upcoming King of the Hill reboot is unique in the sense that time has passed in the world of the show. Instead of picking up where the series left off when it ended in 2009, the Hulu iteration of King of the Hill will take place in the present day — or at the very least, a few years in the past, it’s not exactly clear.
We do know that Bobby is now a young adult, and Hank Hill and his friends have all aged. The streamer recently dropped a poster for the new show, and sure enough, the characters clearly aren’t immune to the ravages of time,...

In 1989, Steven Spielberg was trying really hard to get into the animation game. He had served as executive producer on films like Don Bluth's "An American Tail" and Robert Zemeckis' "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," steering both of them to great success. He also founded his own animation studio, Amblimation, that year, hoping to continue his track record of making striking, original, and successful animated features. By 1989, though, Spielberg and Bluth had suffered a falling out, and new projects didn't come easily. As a result, Amblimation only ever made three features: "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West," "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story," and "Balto."

Most of Hollywood's biggest talents are known by their faces. However, a notable few are beloved for their voice. In the often underappreciated art of voice acting, a host of otherwise unrecognizable names have helped define pop culture institutions and inspire generations of viewers by lending their vocals to characters we all know and love. From Homer Simpson to SpongeBob SquarePants, the voice actor is a foundational part of the entertainment ecosystem, yet they rarely see the same spotlight that live-action stars receive almost daily.
In rectification of that, let's recognize a who's who of voice acting legends by counting down the best voice actors of all time. As you can imagine, the specific rankings in this list are arbitrary, as all of these folks are exceptionally talented and largely for the same reasons. There are also plenty of folks we don't have the digital real estate to include, so...

When Steven Spielberg lends his name to anything, expectations are immediately juiced. Any new project from the man who brought us transporting blockbusters like "Jaws," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," and "Jurassic Park" carries with it the promise of the extraordinary. When he's directing, that promise is almost always fulfilled. When he's producing movies, his batting average is very respectable. As for television, that's a bit of a crapshoot.
Spielberg actually got his professional start by directing episodes of "Night Gallery" and "Marcus Welby, M.D.," before breaking through with the brilliantly directed TV movie "Duel" (which was so good it received a theatrical release). The first show he created for television, "Amazing Stories," was a mixed bag. You expect a bit of inconsistency from an anthology series, but there seemed to be a ceiling to how good an "Amazing Stories" episode could be.

The Critic only aired for two seasons in the 1990s, but three decades later, many fans still remember the series fondly. If there are enough of them interested, they could soon be getting good news with one of the creators of the show teasing a revival.
An animated sitcom, The Critic was created by Simpsons vets Al Jean and Mike Reiss. In a recent post on X, Jean shared an image of The Critic along with a message stating, "Just curious ... how many would like to see [The Critic], with [Jon Lovitz] return[?]" This is certainly not an official announcement that a revival is happening, but Jean seems to be hinting that it could be in the works. Perhaps Jean is testing the fan reactions to see how much interest there would be in a revival before fully committing to the idea. In two days' time, the post has garnered 15.2K likes.

Looney Tunes is arguably one of Warner Bros.' biggest franchises and has been dominating the animation industry since 1930. Over the years, this franchise has introduced audiences to a wealth of famous faces, from Bugs Bunny to Porky Pig. Thus, it's fair to say that Looney Tunes is a significant part of many people's childhood.
However, a lot of fans are probably blissfully unaware that these cartoons are filled with adult jokes. Although these gags went straight over kids' heads, a lot of adults are now seeing the show for what it truly is. Thus, a lot of fans will never look at the characters the same way ever again.

Nancy Cartwright has made enough money playing Bart Simpson to buy as many elephants and all-syrup Squishees as she pleases. But over the course of her career, the actress has lent her voice to a ton of other projects, including classic shows such Animaniacs, Rugrats and Kim Possible, as well as less-than-classic shows like the Saturday morning cartoon adaptation of Problem Child that nobody remembers.
But perhaps most surprisingly, it was Cartwright’s voice that traumatized a generation of kids in the iconic ‘80s family film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
For those who don’t remember, or who have actively suppressed the memory, when the evil Judge Doom is explaining his plan to control the toon population using a lethal toxic substance known as “Dip,” he demonstrates its effects with a helpless animated shoe. If every member of a major religion got raptured tomorrow morning, it would probably still be pretty impossible to get funding for an original screenplay idea in Hollywood. Filmmakers have been turning to crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter or Seed&Spark for years as a partial or full alternative to go around studio and streamer “mandates” for content, of course. But as the industry beats on, borne back ceaselessly into the past, filmmakers like Rekha Shankar are finding more and more established peers standing ready to help them do it themselves.
Shankar is the host of Dropout’s “Smartypants,” a Ucb LA regular, former head writer at CollegeHumor, a writer on “Animaniacs” and “Digman!” and screenwriter of “Vidhya’s Guide to the Afterlife,” which she is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter in partnership with production company EffinFunny. During tonight’s live broadcast of “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert recapped President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress and criticized many of the talking points made during the almost two-hour speech.
Before Colbert took the stage, an “Animaniacs” theme song parody called “The Maga Maniacs” played for the audience. Featuring cartoon versions of Trump, Vice President Jd Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson, the song went like this: “It’s time for Maga Maniacs/ Federal workers get the ax/ Dei rollbacks/ Putin can relax/ We’re Maga Maniacs.”
After the song finished, Colbert appeared and quickly dove into Trump’s address, first poking fun at the speech’s theme.
“The theme of tonight’s speech was ‘The renewal of the American Dream,'” Colbert said. “Yeah, I don’t know if I want to sign up for the renewal. Can’t I just use a different email to get another free trial?...

In the early 1990s, Steven Spielberg oversaw a miniature animation renaissance. He assembled a super-team of the industry's strongest talents in the hopes of recreating, in a modern idiom, the slapstick magic of old-world Looney Tunes cartoons. 1990 saw the premiere of "Tiny Toon Adventures," a self-aware show that featured hip-talking 12-year-old counterparts of famed Looney Tunes characters. This, in turn, led to the creation of "Animaniacs," a modern update of the ethos of zany 1930s cartoons, but with its own wicked pace and surreal asides. Spielberg's renaissance then crested in 1995 with the debut of Paul Dini and Bruce Timm's "Freakazoid!" -- a relatively short-lived animated superhero spoof that remains one of the better animated series of the 1990s.
Nonsense down to its core, "Freakazoid!" aimed to dismantle the po-faced seriousness of the superhero genre (seriousness that Timm himself contributed to with his acclaimed "Batman: The Animated Series"). Freakazoid was created,...

Exclusive: Filmmaker Peter Hastings has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.

Hailing from DreamWorks Animation and Universal, Dog Man follows a half-dog, half-human police officer as he doggedly pursues the feline supervillain Petey the Cat. Hastings directed from his own script, with Pete Davidson, Poppy Liu, Lil Rel Howery, and Isla Fisher leading the cast.
A six-time Emmy and Peabody Award winner, Hastings previously wrote and produced on several Steven Spielberg series for Warner Bros including Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, and Pinky and the Brain, which he ran as a primetime series for The WB. The DC Universe continues to check all the right boxes under James Gunn's watch with the announcement that Jason Momoa is taking on the role of Lobo in "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." It isn't surprising, considering that the former "Aquaman" expressed interest in the role, even before becoming the King of Atlantis. And, well, just look at the guy -- he's practically part Czarnian.
This isn't Warner Bros.' first effort with Lobo, though. The first attempt to give the character the true spotlight came about in 2000 via a DC animated show and would have featured The Main Man center stage in a show penned by John P. McCann, whose credits included "Animaniacs," "Freakazoid," and "Batman: The Animated Series." By that point, Lobo had already appeared in the DC Animated Universe with "Superman: The Animated Series" as well as "Justice League," and the hope was to apply the same quality to the character.

Let’s make this easy: your mileage on “Dog Man” is going to depend entirely on whether you’ve got a Dav Pilkey fan in your life. And if you’re already lost, take it on faith that this probably isn’t the movie for you. But if your house has teetering piles of Pilkey’s bestselling graphic novels — which include various installments of both “Dog Man” and “Captain Underpants,” and which are pitched squarely at scatologically-inclined elementary-schoolers — rest easy: Peter Hastings’ big-screen adaptation does full, chaotic justice to its source material. The kids will love it. And actually, you might, too.
Writer-director Hastings, whose work on similarly anarchic efforts like “Animaniacs” and “Pinky and the Brain” makes him an ideal choice to helm this particular project, is clearly a fan himself. He also developed the televised “Epic Tales of Captain Underpants” series, and stays totally true to Pilkey’s distinctive brand of skewed silliness.

In the 1990s, if you were looking for edgy fare on network television, you'd be looking at Law & Order, My So-Called Life, or NYPD Blue. In fact, you'd probably hit Animaniacs or The Magic School Bus before even considering the popular Western drama Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. The series, which ran on CBS for 6 seasons between 1993 and 1998, stars Jane Seymour as the titular Dr. Michaela Quinn, aka "Dr. Mike," a female physician who sets up a practice in the town of Colorado Springs. The series is as squeaky-clean and family-friendly as they come, in the vein of predecessors like The Waltons or Little House on the Prairie. But imagine if Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman was as edgy and dark as, say, Breaking Bad. What would that look like? Well, imagine no more, as Funny or Die pulled the original cast together to picture what such a scenario would look like,...

It's unclear if the heat directly contributed to Renaday's death, but the family reportedly doesn't feel that any further investigation is necessary.
As an actor, Renaday was best known for providing the voice of Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the widely celebrated animated series that helped launch a massive franchise that remains ongoing. Renaday voiced Splinter...

"Solar Opposites" is back for season 5, and the show is as funny as ever. The adult animated sitcom created by Mike McMahan and disgraced animator Justin Roiland continues to blend the sci-fi lunacy of "Rick and Morty" with classic family sitcom tropes without veering too much into a single territory, keeping audiences on their toes as they watch. The stories about this alien family reluctantly coming to love planet Earth despite how much they complain about it, choosing time and time again to stay here when it's a detriment to their mission, are funny. Still, it's in the B-plots where the show truly shines.
The first of these B-plots is The Wall, a recurring segment taking place in a terrarium of one of the alien kids, who continuously shrinks random people against their will when he feels they wrong him, and puts them in the terrarium. After a while, The Wall became a full society,...

The DC Multiverse allows for infinite crossovers, showcased in the Multiversus: Collision Detected comic miniseries. The cover for issue #3 parodies the famous Action Comics #1 cover. Superman lifts the Mystery Machine, referencing a misunderstood scene from Action Comics #1. Originally, Superman destroys the car in Action Comics #1, changing the context of the new cover and adding humor to the parody.
The Multiverse is an absolutely massive place with an infinite number of characters in it, which leads to an infinite number of potential crossovers. Is “Batman: The Animated Series” the most beloved, well, animated series of the ’90s to not yet receive a reboot? Warner Animation stablemates “Tiny Toon Adventures” and “Animaniacs” have been revived for streamers; when “King of the Hill” comes back (supposedly in 2025), both of Mike Judge’s most popular shows will have made their return; and “The Simpsons” never actually left the air. Now, on the heels of “X-Men ’97” comes “Batman: Caped Crusader” — not an actual continuation of the Warner-produced, Fox-aired Batman saga, but sort of a long-overdue spiritual successor to what many consider the definitive non-comics portrayal of the character. The strongest connection to the previous show: This one is also spearheaded by Bruce Timm, who cocreated the earlier series and remained a dominant force in its development.
This makes “Caped Crusader” both a major event and a potential disappointment; maybe that’s why it’s airing...

When revisiting stuff from your childhood, sometimes you have to call upon the magical power of nostalgia to distract yourself from how truly childish — or downright terrible — it is. Transformers, for example, is the dumbest cartoon ever made, and Nickelodeon’s Doug couldn’t be anymore dull.
There are some kids’ cartoons, though, that have so many layers that they only get funnier as you age. Here are seven of them…
6 Ren & Stimpy
Ren & Stimpy is probably the first cartoon people think of when they’re talking about kids’ cartoons aimed at adults since it’s filled with all sorts of gross and suggestive moments, particularly when involving the relationship between its two leads.
5 Rocko’s Modern Life
Like Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life had adult jokes that went over kids’ heads, but there’s another layer to the show that appeals to adults, too. Nearly every story is...

Have you ever noticed how Tommy from Rugrats sounds just like one of the Powerpuff Girls? Or that Scooby-Doo and Astro from The Jetsons speak very similar dog languages?
Hollywood’s voice-acting community is full of really talented people who can churn out a bunch of different voices, but that doesn’t mean they don’t occasionally have characters that end up sounding exactly alike (it doesn’t help that this group of performers is relatively small).
To that end, here are 10 sets of cartoon characters whose voices are practically interchangeable…

Perhaps the most overlooked series in the "Star Trek" canon ("Short Treks" and "Very Short Treks" notwithstanding), "Star Trek: The Animated Series" may be accepted as the final two years in the U.S.S. Enterprise's five-year mission. "Star Trek: Tas" debuted on September 8, 1973, four years after the cancelation of "Star Trek," to reunite the original cast and writers to explore Starlfeet's adventures in a 30-minute, animated format. The animation was provided by Filmation, the studio that had previously overseen multiple Batman and Superman cartoons, Archie cartoons, "Gilligan's Island" spinoffs, and which would go on to produce the ultra-popular "Fat Albert," "The Groovy Goolies," "BraveStarr," and "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." Filmation shows were popular among kids, but their animations tended to be stiff and inexpressive. The most prominent feature of "Star Trek: Tas" is how static it looks.

Netflix has included another animated series in its catalog and this time, and this time it’s the rebirth of an extremely nostalgic franchise, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Lara Croft has been an insanely popular character and she deserves all kinds of adaptations.
However, the recent animated series teased by Netflix has received some criticism due to its Japanese-inspired art style. While it looks good and has good action scenes, you can’t help but shake off the feeling that it is trying to imitate anime.

"The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour" is likely not remembered by many people, except for Billy Crystal himself. The variety/talk show ran from January 30 through February 27 in 1982, lasting a grand total of five episodes. Crystal was already a successful comedian and beloved figure in the industry thanks to the popularity of his 1970s stand-up work and his role in the 1977 sitcom "Soap," so he had connections. He was able to secure guest appearances from many of his famous comedian friends, including Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Robin Williams, and John Candy for the debut episode. Subsequent guests included Morgan Fairchild, the Manhattan Transfer, Nell Carter, Shelley Duvall, Cindy Williams, Al Jarreau, and Smokey Robinson.

Van Partible's animated series "Johnny Bravo" debuted on the Cartoon Network on July 14, 1997. It was one of four new shows that Cartoon Network premiered in 1997 and 1998 that served as a declaration for a new creator-forward direction the network was taking. "Johnny Bravo" debuted alongside Genndy Tartakovsky's "Dexter's Laboratory," David Feiss' "Cow and Chicken," and Craig McCracken's "The Powerpuff Girls." In 1999, that lineup would be complemented by "Ed, Edd n Eddy," and "Courage the Cowardly Dog." These shows were all quirky and idiosyncratic and attracted a generation of fans.
"Johnny Bravo" was about a barrel-chested, Elvis-voiced lug who lived with his mother and attempted to find love in the big city. His buffoonery and vanity, however, usually kept him single. Johnny was played by prolific voice actor Jeff Bennett, who has been acting professionally since 1991. Van Partible had been working on a version of the show as early...

Warner Bros. has been in the news quite a bit this past year. Between talks of possible industry-shaking mergers and the current chaos surrounding "Coyote vs. Acme," it's starting to seem like the best course of action might be to call up whoever it was that let Ryan Gosling do a photoshoot on top of the Warner Bros. water tower, and kindly ask that they let the Animaniacs loose to cause a little chaos and release the movie.
For the somehow uninitiated, the Animaniacs consist of the Warner Brothers Yakko (Rob Paulsen), Wakko (Jess Harnell), and the Warner Sister, Dot (Tress MacNeille), who ruled the '90s with their animated variety sketch series which included shorts centered on equally beloved characters like Pinky (Paulsen) and the Brain (Maurice Lamarche). At the start of Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's 31st-century sci-fi sitcom "Futurama," the alcoholic robot Bender (John Dimaggio) sounded a little bit more like a drunken vagrant. He slurred his speech more and seemed less able to concentrate. As the show progressed, Bender became more self-assured, like the guy at the bar who — after his fourth shot of Jim Beam — is 100% confident he could thrash the bouncer. Bender became egotistical in addition to being a drunken criminal. On DVD commentary tracks, the makers of "Futurama" have said that Bender, in being a robot, allowed them more explicit depictions of violence and vice; a human character cannot drink a gallon of rotgut whiskey and smoke four cigars simultaneously, but a robot can. The Fox censors are weird.

Voice actor Maurice Lamarche is one of the preeminent elder statesmen of his craft. He started his career in stand up, finding he was a talented mimic, moving into animation in 1980. He appeared in hit shows like "Inspector Gadget" and "Transformers," really hitting his stride in 1985 playing Ego Spengler in "The Real Ghostbusters." He cycled through the KidsWB canon aggressively in the late '80s and early '90s, appearing in "Taz-Mania," "Batman: The Animated Series," "Tiny Toon Adventures," "Freakazoid!," and "Animaniacs" wherein he employed his spot-on Orson Welles impersonation to voice the power-hungry mouse the Brain. His largest sampling of voice caricatures came from his work on the 1994 series "The Critic," where he voiced celebrities ranging from William Shatner to Elizabeth Taylor (but only when she was belching).

Created by Ton Ruegger and overseen by executive producer Steven Spielberg, "Tiny Toon Adventures" debuted in September of 1990, marking a sea change in mainstream TV animation. "Tiny Toons," tapping into 1990s trends toward self-awareness, regularly addressed its own status as a cartoon show, and the characters would frequently give side-eyes to the audience, extract scripts on camera, or even exit their animation cels to cause havoc for the animators. The show's regular obliteration of the fourth wall reflected — and guided — the prevailing winking sarcasm of the 1990s, making it (and I am not exaggerating) a vital and definitive text of the decade. It's no coincidence that it landed the same year as Richard Linklater's "Slacker."
"Tiny Toons" was striking, funny, and launched an entire series of notable Spielberg-backed 1990s cartoons like "Animaniacs," "Histeria!," and "Freakazoid!"
The characters on "Tiny Toons" were largely all distaff "youth" counterparts of established Looney Tunes characters.

When Bender (John Dimaggio) belches on "Futurama," it's typically accompanied by a plume of flame. The more Bender drinks, the larger the plume. A massive beer keg, which Bender downed in one long slug, produced a sizable torch. Another burp once burned off the hair of his co-worker Amy (Lauren Tom).
Some of the burps on "Futurama" are provided by actors who actually bother to belch into the microphone. Often it's Dimaggio, and he once admitted on a commentary track that one must burp-speak the letter "I" to get the proper eructation. On the commentary track for the episode "Crimes of the Hot," the "Futurama" showrunners joked that the (unnamed) actress who provided the episode's many burps -- hundreds of robots belch at the same time -- tragically died the day after recording.
But there is one belching maestro on the "Futurama" cast, and you've likely heard his burps before.

Originally debuting in 1990, Tiny Toons Adventures brought a new generation of Looney Tunes to the world of animation. Introducing a generation of students to a school for cartoon greats, the show ran for nearly a hundred episodes. Now, over thirty years later, the classic characters are back in a new form. Tom Ruegger, creator of Animaniacs, expressed disappointment at being excluded from the reboot, criticizing Warner Bros.' decision to proceed without the original creative team. The original series thrived due to the creative freedom and humor of the original team, who focused on making themselves laugh rather than pandering to children. Rebooting a beloved series without involving the initial creators can result in a final product that lacks the original charm and fails to capture the spirit of the original. Some things are better left as they are, representing a different time and creative conditions.

Steven Spielberg's Animaniacs introduced us to a wide variety of new, fun characters which, along with Tiny Toon Adventures just before it, brought back that element of WB zaniness that endeared their Looney Tunes cast to generations. Animaniacs had recurring gags, and a healthy dose of both intellectual and juvenile humor ("The Great Wakkoroti" is a personal favorite). It would be fair to say, however, that the breakout stars from the show are the pair of Pinky and the Brain (Maurice Lamarche and Rob Paulsen). They were popular enough to land their own series from 1995 to 1998 and featured in the Animaniacs 2020 revival. But what we haven't seen yet, and what we need, is a Pinky and the Brain movie. The time couldn't be better.

Not many original Warner Brothers’ IPs are quite as unique as ‘The Animaniacs’. Originally airing from 1993 to 1998, it followed the mischievous antics of three siblings (and various side characters) as they caused various disturbances around the Warner movie lot. These antics take the form of a variety sketch show, with episodes containing three different segments that often careen into each other. But that’s not the only thing that made this show unique. It was ahead of its time in many ways. The series often indulged in meta humor, leading to pranks and parodies on actors, movies, and Warner Brothers itself. The innovative sitcom left a sizable hole in its place after it went off the air. Things to do: Subscribe to The Hollywood Insider’s YouTube Channel, by clicking here. Hulu unveiled the upcoming release dates for its fall schedule including the return of favorite originals The Great and Animaniacs, as well as freshman series Dopesick, from Empire’s Danny Strong.
First up is the eight-episode limited series Dopesick— based on Beth Macy’s bestselling book— which gives viewers an ambitious, harrowing, and compelling look into the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction. It stars Michael Keaton, Ray McKinnon, Rosario Dawson, and Peter Sarsgaard, among others. It premieres on Oct. 13.
Season 2 of the period dramedy The Great will be released on Nov. 19. with Gillian Anderson joining the cast as Catherine’s (Elle Fanning) mother, Joana. And Hulu is teasing a tumultuous season as Catherine finally takes the Russian throne for her own — but if she thought coup-ing her husband was difficult, it’s nothing compared to the realities of “liberating” a country that doesn’t want to be.
