Peacock has ordered a second season of its highly anticipated new comedy series The Paper. The series will premiere on Peacock on Thursday, September 4.

In the tradition of The Office, which is one of the most binged series of all time, The Paper will drop all 10 episodes at once so fans can enjoy the entirety of the show at their convenience.

In The Paper, the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office finds a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

Your subscription to The Paper has just been extended: Series stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore announced The Office spinoff’s Season 2 renewal on NBC’s Today Wednesday morning, just one day ahead of its series premiere on Peacock.

Veteran motion picture and television executive Frank Price, who had more than one go-round at both McA/Universal and Columbia Pictures, died Monday in Santa Monica. He was 95.

His son Roy Price, former president of Amazon Studios, reported his death, posting on X, “My father, Frank Price, passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning at 95. He lived a full life and we will miss him deeply.”

One of the few journeymen writer-producers to rise through the ranks to head both television and film production divisions, Price headed McA’s TV division in the 1970s, a period of great prosperity for the company, with such series as “Kojak,” “Baretta” and “The Rockford Files.” He moved on to become president of Columbia Pictures in 1978 and then chairman and CEO before he left in 1983; such films as “Kramer vs. Kramer,” “The Big Chill,” “Tootsie,” “Gandhi,” “Ghostbusters” and “The Karate Kid” were released...

Frank Price, the writer-producer who emerged from the world of TV Westerns to preside over the television and movie divisions at Universal and serve two terms as the head of Columbia Pictures, died Monday. He was 95.

Price died in his sleep of natural causes at his home in Santa Monica, his son Roy Price, the former president of Amazon Studios, told The Hollywood Reporter.

As a movie boss, Frank Price had a hand in such critical successes as the Oscar best picture winners Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), Gandhi (1982) and Out of Africa (1985) and huge money-makers including Tootsie (1982), Ghostbusters (1984), The Karate Kid (1984), Back to the Future (1985), Boyz n the Hood (1991) and A League of Their Own (1992).

Earlier, Price had spent nearly two decades as a writer, producer and then head of Universal Television. His idea put The Virginian — one of TV’s longest-running Westerns — in motion, and he executive produced Ironside and It Takes a Thief.

On Saturday, July 12, the Potus took to the social media platform with a message about the former The Rosie O’Donnell Show host. “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump, 79, wrote in his update, per the Daily Mail. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. God Bless America!” It’s unclear what prompted his declaration. The group starts with a first-look TV deal at Amazon MGM Studios and an upcoming film – the Vietnam War thriller Trust the Man with Daniel Radcliffe and Lucas Hedges — as well as an audio partnership with the Washington Post. Graham is directing Trust the Man and also producing with Davis and Linsky.

Yanic Truesdale (who played Le Ballet National trainer Raphaël Marchand), Taïs Vinolo (French ballerina Mishi Duplessis) and Ivan du Pontavice (French dancer Gabin Roux) appeared at the Scad Lacoste Film Festival in France’s Provence region this weekend for a screening and Q&a, all of which was scheduled before the series’ renewal reversal.

If one were to rank all the major streaming services by queerness, Amazon Prime Video would be a pretty tough one to pin down.

On the one hand, you have to give credit where credit is due: One of the service’s very first stabs at original programming was “Transparent,” which in turn was one of the first shows to star a trans main character. That show now has a lot of baggage, but it’s hard to understate its historical significance.

Beyond the thorny topic of “Transparent,” Prime Video does have a good track record of releasing shows with LGBTQ characters and centering their narratives on queer themes; in particular, many of their shows focus on queer women, refreshingly avoiding the centering of gay men that defined queer TV for decades. In 2023, the streamer dropped a phenomenal limited series retelling of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers,” starring Rachel Weisz as twin lesbian gynecologists.

Next Chapter Podcasts, GBH, the Boston Public Library, and The Huntington announce the release of runboyrun, the powerful drama written by playwright Mfoniso Udofia, which is set to premiere on June 16, 2025. The third play in Boston’s nine-play Ufot Family Cycle, runboyrun tells the story of a married couple grappling with the lingering trauma of surviving the Nigerian Civil War. The pilot for the upcoming Prison Break reboot is set to kick off production next week, but they’ve landed some major guest stars to fill out the cast. Drum roll, please. Margo Martindale (Justified), Ray McKinnon (Deadwood), Lili Taylor (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), Donal Logue (Duster), and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming) will all guest star in the Prison Break reboot pilot.

They will join previously announced cast members Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Gage (Road House), Drake Rodger (Landman), Clayton Cardenas (Mayor of Kingstown), Jr Bourne (Teenwolf), Georgie Flores (Into The Dark), Myles Bullock (Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist), and Priscilla Delgado (A League of Their Own).

Martindale will play Jessica Strand, “the Warden of one of the deadliest prisons in America.” McKinnon will play Joe Dahl, “a private detective investigating a decade old murder.” Logue will play Holt Keane, “a father grieving the loss of his family.

Exclusive: Hulu and 20th Television‘s Prison Break pilot from Elgin James (Mayans M.C., The Outlaws) has added Priscilla Delgado in the final series regular role, with production set to begin this week. She will portray Cheyenne, a female inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America.

As we previously reported, James’ version will be its own thing and set within the same universe as the original Fox series of the same name from Paul Scheuring. This new project is not expected to involve the characters at the center of the Og project, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). The spinoff project was first revealed to be in development in late 2023 and was picked up to pilot in December.

It's another heartbreaking day for lovers of television as Peacock has just killed off one of its most promising shows. Laid, a romantic-comedy drama starring Everything Everywhere All At Once star Stephanie Hsu, has been cancelled on the streamer after just one season. The series premiered with all eight episodes on Peacock on December 19. Laid was a hit with audiences and the critics as well, scoring a tidy 93% Rotten Tomatoes score, but the numbers weren't quite enough for the streamer. In addition to starring, Hsu also served as executive producer, as did the show's writers and co-showrunners, Sally Bradford McKenna and Nahnatchka Khan.

There's nothing like a good sports movie. Even at their worst, you can expect a rousing, feel-good romp or a fascinating deep dive into the mind of an athletically gifted individual. Hollywood has no shortage of stories in which a last-second shot or touchdown determines a character's fate, and audiences turn up in droves to see heroes like Rocky Balboa or Daniel Larusso overcome their demons and vanquish their opponents to achieve eternal fame and glory.

Still, fact often triumphs over fiction. Crowd Network (Crowd), one of Europe’s fastest-growing podcast networks, is joining forces with former Lionesses Jill Scott and Karen Carney for Long Story Short. It will be Crowd’s first podcast to be owned by female athletes.

Nate Bargatze has lined up a comedy powerhouse for his feature acting debut.

Will Forte, Colin Jost and Kumail Nanjiani have joined the cast of The Breadwinner, a comedy feature that Eric Appel is directing for TriStar Pictures.

Zach Cherry, Kate Berlant and Martin Herlihy have also boarded the feature, which begins production next week in Atlanta.

The story sees the life of Bargatze’s character turned upside down when his supermom wife lands a deal on Shark Tank. The lifelong breadwinner of the family becomes a stay-at-home dad, and quickly realizes he’s in way over his head.

Mandy Moore is already on board as Bargatze’s wife and Stella Grace Fitzgerald (Rebel Moon), Birdie Borria (The Fabelmans) and Charlotte Ann Tucker (Thunderbolts*) play the onscreen couple’s daughters in the project.

Bargatze, one of the world’s top touring comedians, co-wrote the script and is producing the film with Dan Lagna.

According to Collider, a solid group of writers, many of whom have worked on some high-profile series, have joined the fold, giving the long-dormant project a fresh shot of life.

Big Names Step Into the Writer’s Room
