Veteran LAPD Sergeant Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is paired with Detective Sergeant Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), who has become so reckless, violent, and suicidal since the death of his wife three years earlier that he is considered to be a "lethal weapon".
