I liked this movie

Yes, this film is not a work of art, it is, after all, Danielle Steel. But it is highly entertaining. It's reminiscent of the old WWII love stories, a bit shallow but still intriguing nonetheless. Lovely, happily married woman meets dynamic, handsome man with slutty wife - he can't get out of the marriage because he loves his young son, she won't get out of her marriage because she loves her husband. Cheryl Ladd and Lee Horseley make a wonderful romantic couple, and Jane Seymour is positively perfect as the awful, drunken spouse. Add the drama of life in high society, the war, an ugly divorce, etc., you get the recipe for a relaxing night in front of the television with a very large bowl of popcorn! I've watched it over and over again; I really would like to see it released in DVD. I'd buy if for myself, for my mother, for my adult daughters ...................

They made 'em much better 28 years ago

I discovered this mini-series just this year after perusing Lee Horsely's filmography here and I promptly procured the DVD from one of the online old-movie vendors. I'm now ending my second viewing. I guess this 1986 offering is old-school now, but it makes current day romance movie offerings from Hallmark seem like 3rd grade productions. The sets are so much more expansive and the actors are in a totally different category of skill. The longing glances cast by Cheryl Ladd feel palpable even on a two-dimensional screen. Jane Seymour's various facial expressions tell the viewer more than 10 lines of dialogue. Lee Horsely came off like a man's man gentleman in every scene. If you want a palpable romance story interwoven with some WW2 classic war drama, give this a watch.

Jane Seymour is terrific

This is one fine miniseries. The story is sweeping and manages to mix WW2 drama and passionate romance both at sea and on land. The music is gorgeous by Michel Legrand and the costumes are too.

Jane Seymour really steals the show with a terrific performance as the naughty woman. Cheryl Ladd is wonderful too. Christopher Plummer has a jarring French accent.

They don't make them like this anymore.

A nice, "FEEL GOOD" mini-series!

Crossings is an enjoyable mini-series! Yes, it is very Danielle Steel'ish, but that is what makes it so fun. You know that the good guy is going to get the girl.....and you really enjoy watching them overcome the obstacles along the way. Jane Seymour shines as a ....what's that word that rhymes with witch.....let's say she shines as an over-pampered socialite! Cheryl Ladd's performance was also good and Lee Horsley is always nice to look at!

This also was a good adaptation of the book!

Alot like the book.

The storyline is basically the same as the book, except for what revolves around Robert DeVilliers. He was never a character in the book. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but way too long. Although, it was quite interesting seeing Kelsey Grammer in this one.

Overly long for the material

This series has about two hours of story stretched out to near five hours. Characters are very shallow. After seeing them for one minute one can usually predict how they will act for the remainder of the story. The story itself is rather predictable.
