Two womanizing slackers, Omi and Jai (Rakesh Bedi and Ravi Baswani respectively) attempt to woo the new girl in the neighbourhood, and fail - miserably. Their third room-mate, shy, and a bookworm - succeeds, much to their chargin. The two scheme up comical ideas to split the two lovebirds, so that their secrets and humiliation are not revealed.—rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Siddharth (Farooq Shaikh), Omi (Rakesh Bedi) and Jai / Jomo (Ravi Baswani) are close friends and roommates who are studying at Delhi University. Siddharth has completed M.A in Economics and is preparing for PhD. Jai studies at Sri Ram College for Commerce. Omi has failed 3 times already and his parents have stopped supporting his financially. Jai's parents are in Nairobi and his money order is expected to keep the house afloat. While Siddharth is a studious boy who loves to spend most of his time with books, his other two friends- Omi and Jai are mostly busy chasing girls, watching movies or dramas. The only thing common among three of them is smoking and their love for classical music on vinyl records.

The parallel plot runs between Omi, Jai, Siddharth and Lallan Miyan (Saeed Jaffrey). Lallan Miyan is the local shopkeeper who sells Cigarettes to Omi and Jai on credit. But as students, they don't clear his debts, Lallan Miyan tries to follow-up with them to get their dues. Jai owes Lallan Rs 67.50. Lallan also participates with Omi and Jai in their juvenile pursuits.

One day, Omi and Jai see a girl Neha (Deepti Naval) who is new to their neighborhood and try to impress her by their tricks. Omi was the first to see Neha from his terrace. But Jai is the one who finds where she lives and who is in her family. Both want to go first, but Omi wins the bet in a card game and gets the first shot at impressing Neha.

Omi goes to Neha's house but is mistaken to be the plumber and taken to the bathroom where he has a good look at the shower curtain. Omi runs out as soon as possible and spends the rest of the morning in the park eating peanuts. He returns home to spin a yarn about his romantic conquest with Neha. Omi claims that Neha was impressed with his poetry and the duo spent the entire day uttering sweet nothings to each other.

Jai is the next one to try. Jai pretends to be a film producer from Bombay who is scouting for new talent in Delhi. Neha introduces Jai to her brother (Ranjan Grewal). Neha's brother is trained in martial arts and gives a demonstration to Jai for the role of a villain in his next movie. Neha's brother then proceeds to thrash Jai. Jai runs away and gets himself bandaged at a local clinic. He then goes to a movie theater to kill time. When he returns home Jai spins a yarn about how Neha is mad about movies, and he spent the whole day taking her screen test. He says that he was thrashed by goons, who had their evil eye on Neha, and Jai was defending her honor.

Siddharth points out that it seems that Neha had fun with both Omi and Jai and asks them to decide who would continue to date her. Both friends decide to sacrifice their love for the sake of their friendship.

After some days, Neha visits their flat as the salesgirl of Chamko washing powder. As soon as Jai and Omi see her, they hide quickly. Siddharth meets Neha for the first time and soon a love story begins. They go on a few dates together. Siddharth gets a money order from home and spends the entire amount on expensive clothes on himself and gifts for Neha. But Neha is a simple girl, and she is offended by this show off. Siddharth gives up smoking cigarettes when Neha insists. Siddharth also gets a job to support himself financially.

Siddharth proposes to Neha, and she accepts. Neha's grandmother Dadi Amma (Leela Mishra) is also very supportive of her choice. But Neha's father (Vinod Doshi) is not OK with Neha making her own choice. He wants Neha to marry a man of his choice. Fortunately, the person Neha's father has chosen is Siddharth who is working as an accountant in his company. Neha's father invites Siddharth home.

But when his other two friends find out (they see Siddharth and Neha together in a park), they decide to plot something to end their relationship and also to seek revenge to the embarrassment inflicted upon them by the girl. Omi and Jai both warn Siddharth that Neha is not a girl of good character. Since both had seen Neha's house, they tell him intricate details about the house, which only a person who had been inside the house would know. They are able to convince Siddharth that they had both dated Neha at some point in the past. When Siddharth goes to Neha's home, he sees all the things that Omi and Jai had mentioned to him. Siddharth gets really angry and leaves Neha's house in a huff and without giving any explanations.

Omi and Jai succeed in separating Siddharth and Neha but later on repent when they realize that Siddharth has started losing his interest in work (and resigns from his job) and study and is most likely to end his life as well. Omi & Jai have no choice but to approach Siddharth & to tell him the truth about what really happened with Neha. They confess that Neha has a clean character & they both maligned her image in front of Siddharth to extract revenge for their insult. Siddharth rushes to meet Neha, but now Neha refuses to see him. Finally, Omi and Jai decide to reunite both the lovers. Neha's grandmother can also see that she is not happy. She goes to meet Omi and Jai at their apartment.

A spate of kidnapping (especially of young girls) has started in Delhi. One fine day, Omi and Jai along with Neha's grandmother plan to stage a fake kidnapping of Neha. The idea is that Siddharth will rescue Neha that will rekindle the love between the two.

But unfortunately, Neha is kidnapped by the real gang and the duo of Omi and Jai is left in a lurch. Siddharth immediately sets off to find Neha. The trio track Neha down to an abandoned ruin & rescue her when Neha's grandmother & Lallan Miyan arrive with the police. Neha and Siddharth unite and get married.
