During training at a sword fighting school, the flame haired warrior Red Sonja is unexpectedly visited by an enigmatic warrior called Kalidor whom informs her sister Varna is dying and Red Sonja leaves with him. A dying Varna tells Red Sonja that a temple which she was a priestess was attacked by evil warriors and that they stole a magic orb which only women can tough. But, before Varna can tell Red Sonja more, she succumbs to her wound and dies. Upon learning from an arrogant prince and martial artist Tarn and his overweight manservant Falkon that the evil masked tyrant Queen Gedren whom attacked and destroyed Prince Tarn's kingdom that Queen Gedren has the magic orb. Red Sonja and her companions rides off to Queen Gedren's fortress which not only she must destroy the magic orb and save the world from destruction, Red Sonja sets out to settle a score with Queen Gedren whom slew Red Sonja's family and allowed her warriors to rape her when Red Sonja slashed her left cheek leaving her with a facial scar and Red Sonja engages Queen Gedren in a final fight for vengeance and to save the world from eternal darkness.
