Norway’s Amanda Awards Feel ‘Loveable’ as Lilja Ingolfsdottir’s Drama Wins Big
Image
Lilja Ingolfsdottir’s “Loveable” won big on Saturday night at the Amanda Awards, Norway’s national movie prizes, ultimately picking up four plaudits, including best Norwegian film.

The film, which premiered at Karlovy Vary, has been praised at international festivals for its observant portrayal of a relationship going sour.

“There are thousands of traditional love stories about couples,” said Ingolfsdottir. “We have high divorce rates, but before a person leaves, something must have happened. What is that? We have such a hard time trying to connect,” she told Variety.

Helga Guren – cast as Maria, who is shocked to discover her husband wants a divorce – was awarded the prize for best actor in a leading role. It was Guren’s first Amanda win.

“I just wanted to have a flawed, multilayered female character who is a human being like all of us. She’s empowering herself by looking at her dysfunctionality...

Deadline reports that Netflix has announced the casting of 28 actors for the upcoming whodunnit mystery series Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole. The mystery’s plot is led by “famed anti-hero detective Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers — and supposed colleagues — operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective, Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

The Avett Brothers Announce New Album, Unveil Lead Single “Love of a Girl”: Stream
Image
The Avett Brothers have announced their first new album in five years. The self-titled LP, produced by Rick Rubin, arrives on May 17th via Ramseur Records/American Recordings/Thirty Tigers. As a preview, the band has unveiled the lead single, “Love of A Girl.”

There’s a hopeful, free, careless energy to “Love of a Girl,” which capitalizes on the band’s ability to mesh their folks roots with rock elements and pop catchiness. The grounded lyrics focus on finding meaning in even the most everyday elements, like a store-bought bouquet of flowers, coffee cups, school buses, and the first introduction to heartbreak.

The forthcoming record was recorded primarily in Malibu’s Shangri-La Studios, with additional recording done in Nashville, Mar Vista, and the band’s hometown of Concord, North Carolina.

To support the release, The Avett Brothers will embark on a major tour this year.
