The Eternals and Pompeii star confessed this bizarre superstition on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Believing it to be an age-old Italian custom, Harington genuinely thought he was sending good fortune to the person inside the ambulance. That is—until Fallon burst his bubble.

Then came the best part. Fallon, being Fallon, pulled out a miniature toy ambulance from under his desk. Harington groaned, hesitated, and then scratched anyway. The crowd erupted, Fallon lost it, and Harington had no choice but to laugh along.

James Houghton, known for his role as Kenny Ward on Knots Landing and his work as a writer for The Young and the Restless, died on August 27 at his home in Encino, California. His wife, Karen Houghton, confirmed that he had been battling peritoneal mesothelioma. He was 75.

Houghton played Kenny Ward, a record producer whose troubled marriage was a key storyline in the first four seasons of Knots Landing. The show, which debuted in 1979 as a Dallas spinoff, originally focused on four couples living in a Southern California cul-de-sac. By 1983, his character and his on-screen wife, Ginger (Kim Lankford), were written out, with their departure explained as a move to Nashville.

Before his time on Knots Landing, Houghton played attorney Greg Foster on The Young and the Restless from 1973 to 1976. He later transitioned to writing for the show in 1991, earning four Daytime Emmy Awards as part of the writing team.

James Houghton, who starred as Seaview Circle resident Kenny Ward on the first four seasons of Knots Landing and received four Daytime Emmys as a writer on The Young and the Restless, has died. He was 75.

Houghton died Aug. 27 at his home in Encino of peritoneal mesothelioma, his wife, Karen Houghton, told The Hollywood Reporter. She did not want to discuss his death until now.

Houghton also portrayed the fiancé of Nancy Allen’s character in Robert Zemeckis’ I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978), and he played U.S. senator Cash Cassidy — a bitter rival of Charlton Heston’s oil mogul Jason Colby, on the second season (1986-87) of the ABC primetime soap The Colbys, a spinoff of Dynasty.

Houghton starred as Kenny, a record producer who often fooled around on his wife, Ginger (Kim Lankford), before they had a baby on 66 episodes of CBS’ Knots Landing from 1979-83.

Garth Hudson, the virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and last original member of The Band, has died at the age of 87.

According to The Toronto Star, Hudson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 21st at a nursing home in Woodstock, New York

Hudson was born Eric Hudson in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on August 2nd, 1937. Like their son, both of his parents were multi-talented musicians, and Hudson began playing piano at a very early age. His first official gigs were providing the organ for local church services and for a funeral parlor owned by his uncle. By 1949, he was playing professionally in dance bands around London, Ontario, eventually earning a spot in a group called Paul London and the Kapers.

It was after a Kapers show in London in 1961 that Hudson was first approached by his future-bandmates Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm, who asked if he would be interested in joining Hawkins’ band,...

The music special, a tribute to the legacy of Motown, will air in a two-hour event set to begin at 9 p.m. Et on NBC, streaming next day on Peacock.

Hosted by Smokey Robinson and Halle Bailey, the special will showcase iconic Motown legends performing holiday favorites and Hitsville U.S.A. classics alongside big stars performing solos, duets and group medleys.

Laurence Andries, a TV writer and producer who has worked on shows including Blue Bloods, How to Get Away with Murder and The Pacific, has been charged with six felony counts of sexual assault in Los Angeles.

The accuser, a John Doe, claims Andries drugged and assaulted him in June 2022 after they met for drinks. The writer-producer was arrested in August 2023 after charges were filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney. He remains free on a $150,000 bond and has not yet had a preliminary hearing, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Swamp Thing (1982) is a peculiar entry in the Wes Craven canon. For a director who cut his teeth in porn (most directors began their careers as editors in this field in the early 1970s) and directed such fare as The Last House on the Left (1972) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977), Swamp Thing is a much gentler film.
