Chuck Norris Maybe the Only Celeb Who Can Kick Harder Than Joe Rogan
Image
Chuck Norris can be really vicious with his kicks. He is a trained martial artist who has a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and judo. Norris was invited to play a villain role in The Way of the Dragon by Bruce Lee, and Steve McQueen suggested that he take acting seriously. He has numerous Hollywood projects to his name.

Even during his 50s, Norris continued to practice his martial arts skills passionately. In a video that surfaced on X, he can be seen demonstrating some killer kicks with Benny Urquidez. It appears that he would’ve given Joe Rogan a run for his money with those kicks.

Mel Novak, Bad Guys in ‘Game of Death’ and ‘Black Belt Jones,’ Dies at 90
Image
Mel Novak, the great movie villain known for his slick turns as the sniper Stick in Bruce Lee’s Game of Death, the gangster Blue Eyes in Jim Kelly’s Black Belt Jones and the informant Tony Montoya in Chuck Norris’ An Eye for an Eye, has died. He was 90.

Novak died Wednesday of natural causes at a hospice facility in Granada Hills, his daughter Nikol Conant told The Hollywood Reporter.

In a career that spanned seven decades, the charismatic Novak did lots of his own stunts, as in The Ultimate Warrior (1975), starring Yul Brynner and Max von Sydow. That was one of the four films he made with Enter the Dragon director Robert Clouse.

In his death scene for that post-apocalyptic adventure, “They covered me with peanut butter and sunflower seeds and then put 40 live rats on me,” Novak recalled in a 2018 interview. “I told their trainer, ‘If one of them bites me,...

“He was doing all three”: Harrison Ford Broke All the Rules in ‘Air Force One’ Simultaneously That Gary Oldman Will Never Forget
Image
Harrison Ford is regarded among the most legendary prominent actors in Hollywood, and rightly so. He has cemented this firm reputation for himself in the entertainment industry with his beyond-outstanding acting chops and unwavering bold persona, the latter of which has even seen him breaking some rules on set at times.

Like, this one time, he was working on his 1997 action-thriller flick Air Force One with Gary Oldman, where there was a certain set of rules imposed on the actors with regard to their activities on the sets. But being the star that he is, Ford ended up breaking all the rules simultaneously—a stunt Oldman will, perhaps, never forget.

Harrison Ford's 10 Greatest Thriller Movies, Ranked
Image
Since his breakout role as Han Solo in George Lucas' iconic 1977 blockbuster hit Star Wars, Harrison Ford has established himself as one of Hollywood's greatest leading actors of all time. Although he has become synonymous with his roles as sci-fi heroes and adventurers, some of his best work has been done in the thriller genre. Following him in the roles of detective, lawyer, fugitive and more, these movies have brought out the best in Ford's acting talents.

Harrison Ford's versatility often goes overlooked by people who most closely associate him with blockbuster franchises. His work outside of science fiction and adventure has proven him capable of breathtaking performances, and the actor has a well-known preference for some of these roles. For audiences who love a good thriller, few actors come close to the impressive filmography as Ford -- and these movies prove it.

Harrison Ford's 28-Year-Old Action Thriller Reportedly Getting Rebooted
Image
A 28-year-old Harrison Ford thriller film that was incredibly popular in the 1990s is reportedly being rebooted. Sony may be developing a new Air Force One movie.

The scoop comes from industry insider Daniel Richtman's page, who has reported: "Sony [is] developing a new Air Force One movie. It's not clear if this is a remake or a sequel." The original Air Force One movie debuted in 1997, with the political thriller movie directed and co-produced by Wolfgang Petersen, whose other films included Das Boot (1981), In the Line of Fire (1993), and The Perfect Storm (2000). The plot of the film follows the aircraft carrying the President of the United States as it is hijacked by a group of terrorists.

Could Harrison Ford return for Air Force One sequel?
Image
“Get off my plane…again!” Harrison Ford starred in Air Force One as President James Marshall, who must retake the titular plane when a group of terrorists hijack it and take everyone hostage, including his wife and daughter. The film was a major success upon its release in 1997, grossing over $315 million worldwide. Although there’s been talk of an Air Force One sequel, nothing has come together. However, scooper Daniel Richtman says Sony Pictures is developing a follow-up, which may include the return of its leading man.

We’ll take this rumour with a big ol’ helping of salt at this point, but Richtman has heard that the studio is developing an Air Force One sequel (which could also be a reboot) and that Harrison Ford might be starring in it. This is just me spitballing, but it’s easy to imagine Marshall attending the inauguration of the new president (his daughter?...

10 Strange Sci-Fi Movies That Action Stars Were In
Image
Sci-fi movies often contain their fair share of action, so its no surprise that plenty of action movie heroes have appeared in some fantastically strange science-fiction films. The nature of sci-fi stories means they embrace unbelievable concepts and tap into innate human fears around technology and progress. While this can lead to some undeniable movie classics, it also means that major box office stars sometimes end up participating in movies that were just downright strange and destined to become beloved cult classics or, in other instances, reviled box office bombs.

Many of the best sci-fi movies of all time have leaned into the bizarre and unusual sides of the genre, as technological tales of transcendent terror have captivated audiences and pushed narrative boundaries. While some strange sci-fi movies with acclaimed action stars have struck a chord with viewers, others were doomed to fester in obscurity. While they may not all...

R.I.P. Charles Cyphers: Sheriff Brackett from John Carpenter’s Halloween has passed away at 85
Image
Over the course of a screen acting career that stretched across fifty years, Charles Cyphers racked up 100 credits, but he’s best known for his collaborations with John Carpenter, having appeared in the director’s Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, Someone’s Watching Me!, Elvis, The Fog, and Escape from New York. His most popular character was Sheriff Leigh Brackett from the 1978 Halloween, a role he reprised in 1981’s Halloween II and, after a forty year absence from the Halloween franchise, 2021’s Halloween Kills. Sadly, we’ve lost this great character actor, as Variety reports that Cyphers has passed away “from a brief illness” at the age of 85.

Cyphers’ manager Chris Roe confirmed his passing to Variety and provided the following statement: “Charles was a lovable and sensitive man. He always had the best stories, and you got a full performance while he told you. He was a close friend and...

Image
Growling his way into our hearts in Air Force One, President James Marshall was one heck of a hero. Yeah, we might still be a little sore about that hijacked plane, but it ended up turning Marshall into a hero. But what if Harrison Ford could return for a sequel that’s even more explosive?

Speed With Sandra Bullock Made Keanu Reeves an Action Star But It Was Chuck Norris’ $20.2 Million Movie That Introduced Him to Hollywood
Image
Over the last three decades, Keanu Reeves has cemented himself as one of the leading men in Hollywood when it comes to action. From making The Matrix with The Wachowskis to performing most of his stunts in Chad Stahelski’s John Wick films, Reeves has deservedly earned himself the status of one of the best action stars of our time.

But while it was Point Break and Sandra Bullock’s Speed that gave him the boost in the action landscape, these films weren’t Reeves’ first introduction to the genre.

“He really threw a winner my way”: Harrison Ford Will Never Forget What His Yellowstone Heir Kevin Costner Did for Him Despite Not Being Close Friends
Image
It appears that Harrison Ford built his career upon roles that were passed on by other famous actors. Be it his breakout role as Han Solo or his adventurous hero role in Indiana Jones, Ford was not the first choice for these roles. Interestingly, he was also not the first choice for another action role that the audiences loved him for. Ford’s role as President Marshall in Air Force One was initially offered to Kevin Costner.

Best Classic Movies In The Action Genre
Image
Every genre has classics: movies that sit at the vertex because they have all the necessary ingredients that fans always look forward to. In the action movie category, several examples, such as Die Hard and Predator, have exceeded expectations. Although many action movies have recently begun assimilating elements of other genres, they often remain faithful to what the fans want.

Thanks to their high quality, such films transcend eras and trends, hence they have remained as entertaining as they were during their premiere years. These classic action movies not only featured the biggest names of the time in starring roles but also had great storylines that kept viewers entertained, even when characters weren’t engaging in fisticuffs and shootouts.

Updated on March 19, 2024, by Ajay Aravind: The action movie genre is as old as cinema itself, arguably beginning with 1903's The Great Train Robbery. With the sheer surplus of action features...

The Air Force One Sequel Idea That Never Saw The Light Of Day
Image
I think we can all agree that James Marshall was one of our greatest presidents. I mean, he single-handedly stopped a terrorist attack and saved his entire family in the process!

What's that? You don't remember that happening? And you don't remember President James Marshall ever holding office? Well, that's because none of this happened ... in the real world. But in the wonderful world of movies, James Marshall was indeed a president who kicked some ass, and was played by none other than Harrison Ford in the Wolfgang Petersen blockbuster "Air Force One."

In that very silly, very enjoyable film, the official airplane of the President of the United States is seized by terrorists (lead by Gary Oldman!). The President and his family are taken hostage. But this is not your average Potus! No, James Marshall is a Vietnam veteran and a war hero, so he knows how to handle himself.

Why we never got an Air Force One sequel
Image
Air Force One – which found president Harrison Ford telling that darn Korshunov to “Get off my plane!” – was a massive hit at the box office, taking in $173 million domestically and another $142 million in the international market to be one of Wolfgang Petersen’s biggest hits. And so, with the influx of sequels in the ‘90s, it’s a bit surprising that Air Force One never had a follow-up. Come on, the vice president literally flies on Air Force Two!

Getting a sequel to Air Force One off the ground was in consideration for a while but as screenwriter Andrew W. Marlowe told Syfy Wire, it was the repetitive nature of franchises like Die Hard that kept another installment from ever happening, saying, “…every time John McClane goes on vacation or goes anywhere, the terrorists take over.” As such, he and some execs at Beacon Pictures could never come up with a passable idea.

Air Force One Sequel & Reboot Chances Addressed By Writer 27 Years Later
Image
Air Force One sequel or reboot faces challenges due to the potential absurdity of constantly hijacked flights and the difficulty in maintaining the original's success. The unlikelihood of the original cast and crew's return poses another problem for a sequel, but a reboot could overcome this issue. Political sensitivity surrounding terrorism and the Presidency today would require careful balance in a sequel or reboot of Air Force One.

It has been 27 years since Air Force One's 1997 release, and one of its writers is opening up about whether the movie needs a sequel. The movie featured an all-star cast, including Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close, and more leading actors. The plot is relatively simple, as Ford's President James Marshall desperately works to regain control of Air Force One after terrorists hijack the flight.

While the cast of Air Force One has gone on to star in numerous other movies,...

Since yesterday, Kanye West has been making headlines owing to a statement that Taylor Swift gave after being named as Time’s “Person of the Year” for 2023. For the unversed, the Blank Space crooner opened up about her feud with Ye and his former wife, Kim Kardashian, in a detailed interview. She also revealed that after receiving massive backlash, she left the US and moved to a different country in order to disappear from the public eye.

Amid all this, we recently came across an old interview with Ye where he made a shocking statement about Rihanna being blamed for domestic violence, which didn’t make it to the live episode of David Letterman’s chat show.

Well, the story goes back to 2019 when Kanye West appeared on ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman...

5 Iconic Roles Harrison Ford Could Return To (Now That Indiana Jones Is Gone)
Image
Now that Harrison Ford has officially hung up his hat as the iconic adventurer Indiana Jones, there are plenty of great roles in the star's back catalog that he could revisit. Despite Ford's Indiana Jones exit, he has clarified that he is far from finished with acting, stating “I don't do well when I don’t have work.” While the star's career has been defined by his two most iconic roles, the aforementioned explorer and Star Wars’ Han Solo, Ford has seen a rich and varied career, one which thrived in the '80s and '90s with numerous great roles across genres including comedy, thriller, action, and sci-fi.

Harrison Ford remains a bankable star, one whose attachment to a legacy sequel would certainly help get the project greenlit. However, getting Ford himself on board with a sequel would be no mean feat. The actor takes his independence and...

Dick Halligan, Blood, Sweat and Tears Member Turned Film Composer, Dies at 78
Image
Dick Halligan, who won two Grammys for his early work with the group Blood, Sweat and Tears and later turned to film and television work, died Jan. 18 in Rome, Italy at age 78. The family cited natural causes.

Halligan was a member of Blood, Sweat and Tears for the horn-driven rock band’s first four albums. He played trombone on the group’s heralded 1968 debut, “Child is Father to the Man,” then moved over to keyboards and flute for their second album, the self-titled, “Blood, Sweat and Tears,” after co-founder and keyboardist Al Kooper left the band. With David Clayton-Thomas coming in as the grittier new lead vocalist, the group had a major commercial breakthrough and went from the counterculture cult popularity of the debut to winning the 1969 album of the year Grammy for the sophomore release. Halligan remained on board for two more albums before taking his leave in 1971.

Chuck Norris Fans Celebrate His 80th Birthday On Twitter
Chuck Norris in One Riot, One Ranger (1993)
Action icon and all-around legendary guy Chuck Norris is celebrating his 80th birthday today… Or maybe his birthday is celebrating him.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, the famous martial artist and film producer had a surprisingly melancholy childhood. His father was a drunk who would often put his family in financial crisis, causing Norris to exhibit introverted tendencies throughout his younger years – obviously a stark contrast from his action-packed career as a no-nonsense ass-kicker later in life. He picked up the nickname “Chuck” while serving in the United States Air Force where he began studying martial arts and soon started teaching karate. He eventually became the first ever westerner to earn the rank of 8th-degree black belt in taekwondo.

In 1972, Norris earned himself a long-term spot in Hollywood when he starred as Bruce Lee’s nemesis in The Way of the Dragon, which went on to be Hong...

Chuck in HD! ‘A Force Of One’ Proves That Chuck Norris Does In Fact Spell “Team” With an “I”
Scientists have worked tirelessly since the invention of Blu-ray looking for a way to capture the essence of Chuck Norris onto a high-definition disc. No matter how hard they tried though his fists, jaw and body hair refused to be contained long enough for the transfer to take. But finally, in the year of our Lord 2012, six years after the format’s debut… they’ve succeeded. Seven of Chuck Norris’ classics are now available in HD. A Force of One (1979) is the earliest of Chuck Norris’ films to hit Blu-ray, and it also has the lowest body count. Coincidence? Doubtful. You get the sense he’s still looking for his own groove here and was as interested in representing the sport of karate as he was in being an action star. And while it was his fourth lead role it’s actually the first to actually resemble a real (ie. professional...

HeyUGuys DVD/Blu-Ray Round-Up – 6th August
Following last week’s release of The Players, with Oscar-winner Jean Dujardin (The Artist) co-starring in the lead, we have a handful of new international films reaching the shelves this week, with three more films from France and two from Asia leading the pack.

We’ve also got a few excellent films to add to Play.com’s exclusive new Blu-ray Steelbook releases, in tandem with Universal’s 100th Anniversary, so with that in mind:

My picks of the week:

Shion Sono’s Himizu & David and Stéphane Foenkinos’ Delicacy

With the Blu-ray Steelbook re-release of Serenity a must-buy for fans/collectors.

Himizu Iframe Embed for Youtube

DVD and Blu-ray

Debuting at the Venice Film Festival last year, where it came away with the Marcello Mastroianni Award, Shion Sono’s Himizu has been receiving critical acclaim ever since in its film festivals tour ever since. The film was given a limited...

Blu-ray Review: A Force of One
A Force Of One

Stars: Chuck Norris, Clu Gulager, Jennifer O’Neill, Ron O’Neal, Bill Wallace, James Whitmore Jr., Eric Laneuville | Written by Pat E. Johnson, Ernest Tidyman | Directed by Paul Aaron

This week is sees a double-bill of Chuck Norris releases with The Octagon and now A Force of One. Chuck Norris again plays a Martial Arts expert, this time focusing more on karate so none of the mysterious and unknown art of the ninja (sarcasm of course). The question is will the spooky whispering be back or will this one be taken more seriously, and will he sound less like a serial killer.

In A Force of One Chuck Norris plays Matt Logan a karate champion and teacher of the martial art. When an undercover narcotics force finds itself being eliminated by an assassin while searching the source of a drugs problem they look for help from Logan.

This week's new DVD & Blu-ray
Heavy Metal Parking Lot

A strong contender for the title of most famous movie you've probably never heard of. When cable TV first hit the Us, a certain amount of space was given over to public access, so every area had some local content. It was open to all-comers and equipment was made available to anyone strong enough to lug it around. So Maryland residents John Heyn and Jeff Krulik took it upon themselves to record the activity of attendees of the local enormodome indoor arena. They lucked out too because on the evening they chose, Judas Priest rolled into town.

What resulted was a jaw-dropping 17 minutes where we're treated to a procession of kids who were, to assume the vernacular of the time, super-wasted and hyped up to see a proper rock show; none of that sucky new wave or Madonna crap for them. Full of bad haircuts, baffling fashion choices and ranting teens,...

Chuck Norris! Dolph Lundgren! High Definition! New Blu-rays on the Way!
Why in the hell are there so many exclamation points in that headline, you ask? Because I’m pretty excited about the fact that the Chuck Norris martial arts classic “The Octagon” is coming to Blu-ray. What’s more, Anchor Bay is also releasing “A Force of One” and Dolph Lundgren’s little-seen action flick “Pentathlon”, the latter of which is currently missing from my exhaustive collection of dodgy action cinema. Good news for my entertainment addiction, bad news for my wallet. Damn you, empty currency receptacle! Anyway, in order to take advantage of the upcoming action-packed event flick “The Expendables 2″, Anchor Bay is giving us an opportunity to own the aforementioned motion pictures. Look for them to arrive on retail shelves this summer. Makes sense, right? For specifics regarding special features and what-not, have a look at this press release. All of your many questions shall be answered momentarily.

Just when you thought Blu-ray couldn’t get better… Here comes Chuck Norris!
Is Blu-ray ready for Chuck Norris? That’s the question on everyone’s lips as Anchor Bay announce the UK Blu-ray debut of two of the ultimate bad-ass’ earliest movies, A Force of One and The Octagon. Chuck Norris, the ultimate action hero who’s set to show Stallone and co. how it’s done this summer in The Expendables 2, was made for hi-definition. Imagine it: the grizzled good looks, the hard as nails beard and the fists and feet of steel… all in glorious high definition on Blu-ray. How can you resist? I know I can’t!

A Force of One

A routine investigation by a crack team of undercover narcotic agents becomes anything but when a deadly assassin begins to eliminate the members of the squad one by one. In a desperate bid to identify the culprit, and to train its officers in the martial arts in order to defend themselves,...
