I loved this TV series, it made me a fan of both books "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Because of this show, I read the books for the very first time in my life and enjoyed them too. I thought Ian Tracey's acting in it was SUPERB, he played a likeable older version of Huckleberry.
The theme song will always be in my mind as well.
Makes me wanna go back to those days and re-live them.
Cool that it was filmed in Canada (where I'm from as well).
Hope this review helps.

The timelessness of this show is evidenced by my 7 & 14 - they of the YouTube, Xbox and iPad generation, being hooked on a 39 year old show.
It is a nostalgic show for me, I watched it as I grew up in the 80s, and they'll see the nostalgia in another 30 years.
If you haven't seen the show, get hold of it, watch the first three episodes and you'll be hooked

This is top TV viewing. When I grew up in the 70s, this came on almost every summer. It is well made, each episode is short and therefore easy to get through. Now, 40 years later, I'm watching it with my 7 year old who is completely addicted.
The show is well made, remains reasonably true to the books and contains good animated acting from children which isn't normal for these types of shows.
Thoroughly recommend that you give this a try.

I remember watching this series through about twice on the BBC when I was a kid in England. Wish I could get it all on video!!
I thought it was a great adaptation. Indian Jo and Pappy were such meanies!!!

I saw this back in the early 80's on Showtime's "Mark Twain Theater". Since it was a series, there was enough time to capture details in the book very accurately. In fact, it was quite true to the book. It was enjoyable to watch, for young children and adults as well. The young actors were all very good, especially Ian Tracey as Huck Finn. I wish it would be on again so I could show it to my children. As far as I know, it is not available on video.

- QuizVarious sternwheeler riverboats appear in the series. The Julia Belle Swain appears in the opening and closing credits, and are in fact the only scenes that were actually shot on the Mississippi River.
- Versioni alternativeThe versions originally televised in the UK did not have Ian Tracey's previews of what was to happen in the next episode, although these versions did keep the recaps of what happened in the previous episode.
