Sky and Starz announced today that filming has begun in London on the second season of the critically acclaimed, darkly comic Sky Original thriller Sweetpea. Ella Purnell returns as wallflower-turned-killer Rhiannon Lewis, joined this series by new cast members Tamsin Greig and Rish Shah.

Killer wallflower Rhiannon Lewis is back in season two of the iconically brazen and darkly comic thriller. Navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, Marina still hot on her trail, her sister selling her family home, and a copycat killer threatening to expose her, the kill list is mounting.

But now that she’s harnessed her rage and found her power, Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex, Aj, was right: is she a monster?

Rish Shah joins the cast as Rhiannon’s romantic interest, Gabriel, alongside Tamsin Greig, who stars as Aj’s mother, Liv. Taj Atwal steps in as Freya, Rhiannon’s...

Samia Drops Stripped Version of ‘Pool’ After 2023 Tiny Desk Performance Goes Viral
Image
A TikTok clip of a two-year-old Tiny Desk performance has revived Samia’s “Pool.” On Tuesday, the indie star released a stripped-down version of the favorite, following the resurgence of the emotional performance of the song from November 2023.

“Pool” originally appeared on Samia’s 2020 debut album The Baby. But a live snippet of her performing “Pool” — particularly the lines, “How long do I have left with my dog ’til I start forgetting shit?/How long ’til we’re rich and then we’re not and then we’re rich?” — for...

San Francisco Police Crack Down on Nitrous Oxide Outside Dead & Company Concerts
Image
The San Francisco Police Department arrested a man on suspicion of possessing and distributing large amounts of nitrous oxide outside of Dead & Company’s massive homecoming shows in Golden Gate Park this past weekend.

Per Sf Gate, it wasn’t the only nitrous oxide-related inquest, with Sfpd also issuing three citations and booking one person into San Francisco County Jail. The drug, familiarly known as ‘Whippets’ and known by Grateful Dead fans as ‘Ice Cold Fatties,’ has long been associated with the Deadhead community. It appears in the form of colorful, oversized balloons, which Sf Gate notes were seen deflated and littered all around Golden Gate Park before and after the Dead & Co show.

The drug was so popular last weekend that Sfpd identified a trailer containing 100 metal tanks on Saturday, which they presumed were filled with nitrous oxide. While the drug is not illegal to purchase (nitrous oxide can...

Goodfellas Boards Ali Asgari’s Venice-Selected Iranian Censorship Satire ‘Divine Comedy’
Image
Exclusive: Goodfellas has acquired world sales rights for Iranian director Ali Asgari’s satire Divine Comedy, following a filmmaker’s mission to dodge censorship, ahead of its world premiere in Venice’s Orizzonti sidebar.

The dark comedy, satirizing Iranian film censorship and bureaucratic absurdity, draws on Asgari’s own experiences in his native Iran, where he was slapped with a travel ban and had his personal belongings confiscated after showing his film Terrestrial Verses in Cannes Un Certain Regard in 2023.

The new feature follows 40-year-old filmmaker Bahram who has spent his entire career making films in Turkish-speaking Iranian Azerbaijan in northwestern Iran, none of which have ever been screened in the country.

When his latest work is once again denied permission by the Ministry of Culture, the censorship pushes him to the edge of defiance.

With his sharp-tongued, Vespa-riding producer Sadaf by his side, Bahram embarks on an underground...

‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Harry Got Engaged and Unengaged Before I Finished My Snack
Image
If you love something, set it free. If it’s an alien with commitment issues and genocidal in-laws, maybe just… text first. I won’t lie: Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 4 (Truth Hurts) hit me like a laser beam straight to the heart. Who knew a proposal between a former alien and his very-much-still-alien baby mama would spiral into family racism, emotional sacrifice, and… grave-digging?

Yes, that all happened, and somehow it all works. Episode 3 was a wild blend of comedy, conspiracy, and emotional heart-tugging, all with a retro horror twist, but episode 4? The latest one opens with romantic tension, jumps to a proposal (Heather pops the question to a now-human Harry), and crashes face-first into heartbreak (her dad literally attacks him).

Meanwhile, Kate starts connecting alien-baby dots, Mike spills alien tea to Lena, and Liv installs forest cams hoping to catch some UFO action. And she’s always two steps behind.

How Sirens blends dark comedy and intrigue into Netflix's must-watch thriller
Image
A limited series of mystery comedy/drama set in the scenery of the holiday season and a star-studded cast might be the right treat to set the viewers up for the upcoming summer holidays.

That is what Sirens creator Molly Smith Metzler (up ) is counting upon when she came up with the idea for this dark comedy that relies on Greek mythology references.

The general idea is promising, and so is the cast, which includes Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon, among others. There are already positive critics' reactions (they do get to see these beforehand). Yet, how will the Netflix audience react? We will find out when the series starts airing on May 22, 2025.

What is the Sirens plot about?

The series, based on on Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea, presents its main character, Devon DeWitt (Fahy) who travels to an island reserved for the rich and...

Step into Samia’s fantasy world and you’ll find an alter ego that looks like her, but is entirely different. She wears a backward baseball cap on top of her long, curly, jet-black hair and sports denim Daisy Dukes. She lives in a balmy, emerald-green wetland. She’s completely unburdened by people’s opinions or expectations. This is Samia’s idealized self, and her name is Kiki Swamp.

As she shares her alter ego’s name, Samia, 28, can’t help but laugh. “I made a Sim of her,” the singer-songwriter says with a chuckle.

‘Harry Potter’ Actress Joins Onlyfans to ‘Get Out of Debt’ During Hollywood Dry Spell: ‘Ripping Up the Good Little Actress Rule Book’
Image
Jessie Cave – most known for playing Lavender Brown in the “Harry Potter” films – is starting an OnlyFans account centered around her hair.

In an Instagram post, Cave explained to her boyfriend that her upcoming OnlyFans account would contain “the best quality hair sounds” and “very sensual stuff.” She also hammered home that the account would not be sexual but “it is a fetish, I think. I hope.”

The “Harry Potter” alum further broke down her reasoning for starting an OnlyFans account now on her personal Substack. Much of it has to do a Hollywood dry spell and the potential money from the account would help fix up her home.

“One year. I’ll try for one year,” Cave wrote. “My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc. My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove...

Ghosts Season 4's Returning Character Can Revive A Forgotten Thor Storyline
Image
Although Ghosts season 3 effectively forgot about Thors son Bjorn, the CBS sitcom promises to bring back his plot in the upcoming season 4. There are a lot of ghosts in CBSs Ghosts, so it is no surprise that the show occasionally forgets to update viewers on all their relationships. After all, every episode also has to make room for Sam and Jays antics, not to mention filling in the details of each ghosts backstory. Fortunately, Ghosts season 4 has a chance to revisit the abandoned storylines of some of the houses long-time residents from earlier seasons.

Related I Really Hope Ghosts Season 4s Biggest Twist Is A Fake-Out

Ghosts season 4 promises that Jay will soon be able to see the show's ghosts too, but I'm desperately hoping this plot will just be a fake out.

Although Ghosts season 4 wont crossover with its British inspiration, the sitcom will bring back characters glimpsed earlier in the shows history.

Kim Kardashian's "American Horror Story" Role Is Less Acting and More Branding
Image
When "American Horror Story: Delicate" premiered in September, it felt like the whole internet cried out at once: "Kim Kardashian is so great in it!" TMZ literally sent a push alert about it. But having actually watched the season so far, let me be clear: Kardashian's first serious foray into acting is overhyped.

If you haven't been watching, in the 12th season of "AHS," Emma Roberts plays Anna Victoria Alcott, who very much wants to get pregnant and win an Oscar. The two desires often come into conflict in ways that don't really make sense, though that's the fault of a weak script more than anyone's performance. Anna is surrounded by a hapless husband ("Gilmore Girls"'s Matt Czuchry), an obviously nefarious doctor (Denis O'Hare), and many other characters played by staples of the Ryan Murphy-verse. And then there's Kardashian, who plays PR maven Siobhan Corbyn, who's going to...

French box office slips in September 2023, but continues steady year-on-year climb
Image
”“September is always low,” said Fncf’s Marc-Olivier Sebbag, “People have other things to do.”

Despite a promising summer blockbuster boost and August upswing, France’s September box office struggled with just 8.8m ticket sales and a total gross of approximately €63.2m, based on an average ticket price of €7.

The September slump was down 21.1% compared to the pre-pandemic 2017-2019 average and the lowest since 2005 (8.4m).

However it was up 16.1% from last year’s abysmal 7.6m admissions. Last September’s record low marked the worst month at the French box office since 1980, excluding the pandemic-ridden 2020 when cinemas were closed for most of the year.

10 Seriously Scary Horror Movies That Are Only Rated PG
Image
PG-rated horror films can still be genuinely unsettling without relying on gore and violence. Many PG-rated horror films from the '70s were able to create a creepy and scary atmosphere, despite their family-friendly rating. Some PG-rated horror films, like Jaws, became iconic and influential in the genre, proving that scares can be achieved without explicit content.

Most horror films pride themselves on gore and violence, but some PG-rated entries in the genre prove that even family-friendly scary movies can pack a serious punch. By definition, horror movies are designed to scare audiences, and since many viewers find gore to be one of the most disturbing sights imaginable, the genre has garnered a reputation for featuring violent, upsetting imagery. That sort of content usually makes such movies suited for more mature audiences, garnering them PG-13 or even R ratings.

However, there are also a lot of horror movies that use...

‘This Is Going To Hurt’ Producer Sister Sees Revenues Skyrocket By $100M In 2022
Image
Exclusive: Jane Featherstone and Liz Murdoch’s Sister saw revenues skyrocket by $100M last year, although the This is Going to Hurt and Chernobyl producer failed again to turn a profit.

The transatlantic outfit’s turnover grew by a mammoth 273% to $134M for full-year 2022, according to a Companies House filing seen by Deadline, as the outfit shook off the shackles of the Covid-19 pandemic and delivered a number of high-profile projects. The vast majority of the revenue came from TV shows.

Sister’s filing pointed to “the realisation of a pipeline of projects and recovery from the delays to the production schedule of programmes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic” as a driver of revenue growth. Big shows delivered in the year included BAFTA-winning BBC drama This is Going to Hurt, The Split Season 3 and HBO/Sky’s The Baby.

As with last year, Sister failed to turn a profit but...

Women are calling the shots as budgets tighten
Image
Leading independent digital platform Mamamia hosted its Upfronts showcase in Sydney last week to 250 senior marketers at Doltone House.

Creators Mia Freedman, Holly Wainwright and Clare Stephens opened by sharing the stark findings of Mamamia’s new longitudinal study ‘The State of Australian Women’: two thirds of women, across generations, are shouldering the burden of managing the household’s budget through inflationary times. As wallets tighten, it is women who are calling the shots.

And it’s an ocean of purchasing power (see chart below): from beauty to home entertainment to auto, it’s only when you get to home renovation that shared decision-making becomes more common than women making all or most decisions.

The study also found that Health & Fitness and Travel & Holidays were the areas where women’s intentions to spend more in the year ahead outnumbered intentions to cut back. Holly Wainwright, Executive Editor, said:...

Cannes may get all the attention, but France’s summer film festivals are essential launchpads for local features ready to hit the international market. Here are the ones to look out for.

Now in its 16th edition, The Angouleme Francophone Film Festival was the first stop for global sensation The Intouchables, which went on to gross more than $445m at the box office worldwide and even get its own US remake...

The Mandalorian: Burning Questions We Want Answered in Season 4

The popular Star Wars series The Mandalorian doesn't need any introduction, as the series revitalized the franchise amid the controversial (to say the least) sequel trilogy. However, now that season three of The Mandalorian has come to a close, it's time to look back and see what questions we have after our latest adventures with Djarin and Grogu.

Here are the most burning questions about The Mandalorian from season three that we want to be answered in season four.

How Much Did Grogu Learn from Luke?

At the end of season two, Luke Skywalker himself showed up to train Grogu in the Force.

What’s Going to Happen to Shauna’s Baby on ‘Yellowjackets’? 3 Theories
Image
It’s a time-honored staple of survival shows: If there’s a group of people in a high-stakes situation during which a pregnancy would be remarkably inconvenient — if not downright deadly — someone’s pregnant. Examples include Claire (Emilie De Ravin) on Lost, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) in A Quiet Place, Sharon Agathon (Grace Park) on Battlestar Galactica, and so on. On Yellowjackets, Shauna (Sophie Nelisse) winds up the bearer of the “pregnant survivor” trope. However, this being Yellowjackets, we’re wondering how this familiar story might be flipped on its head… perhaps through supernatural-wilderness means. We know Teen Shauna grows up to become Melanie Lynskey, so she won’t die in childbirth. But what happened to that baby? Munch with us on these three potential theories. Kailey Schwerman/Showtime Theory #1: Shauna Loses the Baby On the surface, this seems the most likely route for the show to take. To say...
