Stella Stevens was originally set to play the role of Lorrie Dellman but her contract with Columbia ran out before it was put into production.
According to an October 1967 edition of show-business trade paper 'The Hollywood Reporter', the Columbia Pictures studio acquired the movie rights to the film's source novel by 'Frank. G. Slaughter' prior to publication whilst the book was still in the galley proof form.
Producer M.J. Frankovich and actress Dyan Cannon also collaborated on Jacqueline Susann's La macchina dell'amore (1971) and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) where Frankovich performed the producing duties of producer and executive producer respectively. Le mogli (1971) and La macchina dell'amore (1971) both debuted in the same year of 1971.
The movie's theme song "The Costume Ball" was sung by singer Cass Elliot aka "Mama Cass" aka "Ellen Naomi Cohen" aka "Mama Cass Elliot".
Janice Rule replaced Barbara Eden in the role of Amy Brennan. Previously, a September 1969 edition of show-business trade paper 'Daily Variety' had stated that Eden was being considered for a part in this picture.
