Blooper

Shots of the X-80 use footage of a Convair F-102 Delta Dagger, but not always the *same* F-102, as evidenced by the identification number on the side of the aircraft. During re-entry, some footage of a Convair F-106 Delta Dart is used as well, giving the impression that the plane changed from an F-102 to an F-106 and then back again.

Breaking the time barrier also created a multi-verse of Air Force jets. On the way up, Allison's plane starts as FC-226 / 61226 with triangle tail fin. Then it's briefly shown as 70236 (presume F_-236). Followed shortly by FE-229 / 70229 with trapezoid tail fin. And landing as the original FC-226 / 61226 with triangle tail fin. Later on, it takes off as FC-467 / 60467 with trapezoid tail fin. Then FC-226 (triangle) again. Followed by FE-229 / 70229 (trapezoid) again. With final approach back to FC-226 (triangle). All the 'same' plane.

The front of the prison interior shows a small wooden staircase with some hairless mutants standing beside the top stairs. Reversing the angle shows a much larger stone staircase, with no room at the top for the mutants; and at the bottom of the longer stone stairs are numerous mutants, all with full heads of shaggy hair.

(at around 6 mins) The pilot employs the "central stabilizers" with the jet at 100 miles altitude (500,000 feet). There is no appreciable air at that altitude so stabilizers (fins) would be useless.

Assuming that the plane carries enough fuel to make the trip up that far and that fast in the first place ... there is no way that there would be enough left for the return flight without re-fueling.

When Colonel Martin orders the Sergeant to post a guard outside the operating room, the Sergeant salutes. The Colonel is "covered" (wearing a hat); the Sergeant is not. Military protocol specifies hats are not worn indoors and salutes are not rendered indoors nor when "uncovered."

At altitude 500,000 feet, where there is less than 1/100000 the air at sea level, the pilot radios his speed to base as "6000 miles an hour airspeed" But airspeed at such an altitude would be effectively zero, since the airspeed reading is the result of air pressure in the pitot tube. No air = no pressure = no airspeed.

One fertile couple is not enough to sustain a viable gene pool. But the plan is a last ditch effort to grasp at straws.

As the X-80 is gaining altitude, there is a shot of the plane supposedly in a steep climb. But the clouds in the background are obviously at the same sharp angle, revealing that the footage of a level flight has just been "tilted" optically.

The bald skullcaps on the mutants were not applied well and some of them have wrinkles and their hairlines are obviously artificial.

Major Allison, who has been imprisoned among mutants who are ready to kill people, is sent for by two guards for more questioning. As they leave, the gate to the den of mutants is left open.

The guards are carrying Korean War era M1 Carbines - it would seem that by 2024, a newer weapon would be available.

With the jet reaching 100 miles altitude it would be above the atmosphere and yet there are lots of sounds effects of the jet's engine and speed. Sound requires air to emanate and be heard.

When the scientists are trying to meet in secret, Captain Markova starts a metronome, which seems to have no function in concealing them from the spy-cams.

Boom mike appears at the top of the frame in the conference room.

When Major Allison is shown his quarters, the boom is visible as a shadow on the rear wall during the entire shot.

When Bourman and Kruse are explaining Allison's movement through time (on a convenient blackboard), they sum up all of the velocities Allison experienced and state that theoretically he was approaching the speed of light before even taking off. Six million mph is less than 1% the speed of light.

The Supreme refers to his granddaughter Trirene as a deaf-mute. Her response to speech and other sounds throughout the movie show that she is only mute, not deaf.

One of the scientists states that "time is unaffected by the laws of gravity". This is untrue, as Albert Einstein's theory of relativity has proven that the higher the gravity, the slower time passes.

Several characters speak the name Trirene, pronouncing it a different way nearly every time.
