Taking inspiration from historical reality
Taking inspiration from Judgment at Nuremberg and the Swindlers director Bianchi (helped by Age e Scarpelli) screen legends Totò and Peppino de Filippo in this messy movie. The plot is confusing and the script (as it often happens with Totò) somewhat half baked. The film becomes a lengthy (and sometimes boring) adventure interspersed with funny (but not always) sketches. Perhaps there is no really good supporting cast (except for and histrionic Pavese as a bald soviet general). Funniest scene when they failed to the decrypt the encoded message while hostage by the Soviets.
