  • TV announcer: Good evening. Welcome to another edition of "Where are They?" All over the world there are men and women doing unusual things. This evening, let's take a look at Reginald Blake, author and explorer. Last interviewed on this programme several months ago, before he embarked upon one of his more hazardous adventures. Where is he now? This is a map of the Sahara and somewhere about here
  • [indicating on the map]
  • TV announcer: Reginald Blake is walking, intending to be the first man to walk across the Sahara. Mad? Impetuous? Perhaps. But also brave; a pioneer. Let me tell you something about him and his adventures.
  • [indicating a photo on the screen]
  • TV announcer: In Africa, where he removed a thorn from the paw of a savage lion; and here, six months later, having recovered from his wounds, he's on the brink of death in the Andes, but still smiling gamely. And here he is in the Arctic. An ice floe had broken away from the main body and it was several weeks before they discovered that he was still alive. Well that tells us a little about Reginald Blake and his adventures. Adventures which his many successful books have described in moving detail. But where is he now?
  • [he is handed a note]
  • TV announcer: This man to whom every trackless waste is as familiar as his own backyard.
  • [He looks at the note]
  • TV announcer: He's lost! Lost?
  • Simone Rolfe: Charles, I want you to know Mr. Oliver Brolinsky.
  • Simone Rolfe: [to the poet] Mr Lunton is a publisher.
  • Charles Dunton: It's a Pleasure!
  • Poet: Crazy!
  • Charles Dunton: I listened to your poem with great interest.
  • Poet: Cool!
  • Charles Dunton: Have you, er, have you ever been published?
  • Poet: What for, man?
  • Charles Dunton: What for, man - that's a good question, what for man?
  • Poet: I mean, man, er why?
  • Charles Dunton: Why? There's another good one. Let me think. Oh, er, money perhaps?
  • Poet: I don't believe in it, dad. I dig truth.
  • Charles Dunton: That's very refreshing.
  • Poet: Sure, man. I don't dig parasites.
  • Charles Dunton: I beg your pardon...
  • Poet: I mean, man, you live like a hyaena. Know what I mean, man?
  • Charles Dunton: No, I'm afraid not. Do tell me.
  • Poet: Cool, daddy. It's this way: I'm pure, see? And guys like you drink my blood.
  • Charles Dunton: Well, not just at the moment, thank you very much.
  • Felix McGregor: Babies are delicious, no?
  • Reggie Blake: I don't know. I've never eaten one.
  • Reggie Blake: What do you want?
  • Felix McGregor: Why should I beat around the bush? It's all over town.
  • Simone Rolfe: Remember the night the sheik invited me to join his harem?
  • Reggie Blake: Yes, I remember you said you couldn't because you weren't a member of the union.
  • Reggie Blake: It's funny that every time you stab me in the back, you quote Shelley.
  • Reggie Blake: [handing Simone a drink he had just made] Desert Fires, remember?
  • Simone Rolfe: Ah, how could I forget. Wow!
  • Reggie Blake: Don't spill any - you'll burn the rug... Do you remember when we used to sit down on the ground to drink 'em?
  • Simone Rolfe: Oh, yes, of course - to keep from falling.
  • Reggie Blake: Who's Brishin?
  • Felix McGregor: One of my closest friends. I hate him.
  • Charles Dunton: My dear Fran! Old Reggie doesn't die. He only disappears. You know how good that is for business.
  • Reggie Blake: Answer the door!
  • Phoebe: Not on your life!
  • Reggie Blake: Why?
  • Phoebe: I've turned in my job.
  • Reggie Blake: When?
  • Phoebe: The moment I saw you. I only came back at all 'cos I heard you was dead. I know your reputation!
