Blooper

The Governor, upon meeting the Contessa for the first time, wants to see the Barracuda, who is still aboard his pirate ship. He wants to meet him "at once", and she accompanies him. The next scene, arriving by dinghy to the ship, he is in the same uniform he left his office, while the Contessa wears a new outfit, and hair-dress with adornments that could have taken hours to redo.

The amount of soot on Maureen O'Hara's face changes from the long shots to the close-ups.

Swaine fights Black and goes into the water. Swaine, soaking wet, makes his way to helping hands. But when he is actually pulled out of the water his clothes are dry.

The Contessa and Anne are to have a duel. Laurent hands each a pistol. But when Anne takes her pistol, she not only draws back the cock but the frizzen as well. When the Contessa gets hers, she draws back just the cock as the frizzen is already back. The frizzen would have to be back in order to contain the powder in the pan, meaning only the Contessa's pistol was armed. Night time scenes were filmed using a filter to darken scenes. BUT this technique leave the sky blue when in fact the night sky is always black! Further, detail (both close and distant) is evident, when in fact it would, should fade, disappear, into the shadows and darkness of the background.

Watching the Portuguese dubbed version, and that is fine, but after the wedding, first time on land, a group can be heard singing "Wyatt Earp, Wyatt Earp, breve, courageous and bold . . ." in the background. Earp's lifetime and the setting of the film are completely out of sync.
