In his second movie playing the Cisco Kid, Duncan Renaldo starts out by robbing a stage and kidnapping passenger Gwen Kenyon. We soon learn it is all an act; she is wanted for a murder, but is being framed by the back-up heir.... although how he knows this at the start is never made clear.
Oh, well, it's a Monogram picture Phil Rosen adds some value by shooting part of it at the Mission San Fernando Rey, and there are a couple of good jokes in the script for Renaldo to say, plus a nicely convoluted plot. Also the song Aurora Roche sings in the cantina is a polka.
It's clear that Monogram wasn't paying much attention to the B series they had picked up from 20th Century-Fox, and they would soon replace Renaldo with the far more charismatic Gilbert Roland. But Renaldo would be back.

This Cisco Kid story has Duncan Renaldo and Martin Galarraga helping Gwen Kenyon who is an accused murderess of poisoning a woman she was taking care
of. She was the principal heir to the woman's fortune. When about to be
arrested she flees to New Mexico territorywhere Cisco takes a hand.
A rather elaborate trap is set by Renaldo to make the real murderer confess. And in church as well.
This film had a bit more plot than the usual Cisco Kid films. It'a a good one.
