Saddle Silly

The tack shown on the horse changes constantly throughout the cartoon: When the replacement mount leaves the waiting bench, he is equipped with a horse collar (yoke) and a two strap halter, no reins, and no saddle . In the next shot after the rider has mounted him, at the gallop, the horse now has a single strap bridle with reins but the horse collar is gone. Then the pair plunge off a cliff into a lake. Now, at the bottom of the lake, the horse is equipped with the two strap bridle and the horse collar, reins and a saddle.
