Sons of Steel

Few of the actors are known today, except perhaps by film fanatics -- such as myself -- but they are all extremely talented.

The story might be slight, but it is assembled into a good script, very nicely performed by, first, Charles Starrett, best known today -- by apparently a legion of fans -- for his "Durango Kid" series.

Leading lady is one of the Young sisters, Polly Ann.

William Bakewell was a very busy actor, with 196 credits here at IMDb, but this is one of his best parts, and he carried it off beautifully. It's a great role, he was a good-looking and strong performer, and should be better known today.

Perhaps the strongest and most consistent player was Walter Walker, listed here with 97 mostly uncredited roles! Amazing! He stole every scene he was in as the boss of the mill in "Sons of Steel," and ought to be much better known. He gave a remarkable performance.

One complaint might be the use of stock footage. But it was appropriate footage and allowed the low budget still to give us a good movie.

There is a message here that discussion is a better solution than violence, that discussion is better than assumptions. And that, added to the performances, is enough to earn this film my nine stars. I strongly recommend "Sons of Steel."

Potent and poignant words -- especially considering today's show-flake generation who sit at home trying to destroy other people's lives because they are so vapid and miserable living with mommy well into their 30's.

It's a low budget, no frills, movie with an important message for the social media generation. But they won't listen. They're too busy trying to bring down someone for comments made 10 years ago in order to feel self-important.
