Wallingham's certified check is clearly dated 21 October 1933, but his steamship ticket, which he purchases afterwards, is dated 2 September 1933.

When Wallingham arrives at the pier to board his ship, the taxi stops at Latin American Lines and there are no letters on the beams. But on the next immediate cut, while the porters are handling his luggage, it has now changed to Blue Anchor Line and the beams now have letters.

The length of Jimmy Corrigan's hair, which is extremely close-cropped on the sides and back, varies greatly between scenes.

When Wallingham buys the Blue Anchor Steamship ticket, there is a calendar on the office wall that reads Friday the 6th. But the purchased steamship ticket reads September 2, 1933, which is a different date and also falls on a Saturday.

When Joan arrives at the pier to board the Blue Anchor Line, there is an overhead sign that reads "1st. Cabin Baggage". But on the previous cut when Wallingham was boarding the same pier and line, that sign was not there.

Two of the newspapers' front pages in the montage at the beginning of the film have the same headline and story of Jesse Owens choosing Ohio State University out of 28 colleges that recruited him out of high school in Cleveland.

At the steamship pier, there was a US Customs booth. However, both Wallingham and Joan went directly on board without passing through customs.
