I can't watch this and other similar shows due to the waste of materials or items that could, and should, be, donated to the Restore or other charitable places for those less fortunate.
This show, and others, make a big show of bringing in homeowners and giving them sledgehammers. This isn't a problem when they're knocking out a wall but they make big of destroying inexpensive cabinets and counters that could be donated. So they're cheap chipboard.
Someone out there may be glad for them but they're simply destroyed. What a waste.
I challenge this and shows like it to contact the Restore and other charitable places like it to donate as many reusable materials as are reasonable instead of conspicuously destroying them without a thought.

Disappointed in this new show. I usually like the Property Brothers and have watched them for years. I find this show irritating and decided to stop watching. Who has $150,0000+ to renovate? Also, the results of the renovations look like inexpensive materials and nowhere near the cost of what the homeowners are paying. Older but quality windows replaced with Casement that opens outward. Family of 4 and a kitchen island for 3. Other thing I notice is that they are not listening well to the homeowners. They say they do not want modern and end up with modern with some wood floors. Biggest issue I have is them showing homeowners an inspiration home that is much more expensive and larger than what they own.
Like all reality TV, this show has a distinctly fake vibe to it. The only work these guys ever do is when the cameras are rolling. They never do anything that would cause them to work up a sweat or displace a single hair on their perfectly coiffed hair. They look kinda silly with their stylish work clothes and work belts that look they just came out of the box.
The brothers are more charming than most HGTV hosts and don't start grating on you after a few episodes like the annoying as freak Gaines couple. But they seem more like game show hosts than contractors.
There's never any discussion about cost. Then it's like the brothers make all the decisions about everything.
The worst thing about all the HGTV shows, especially this one, is that they concentrate so much on furnishings and decorations at the expense of what's done to the actual house. IDK if it's the producers who pick everything, but all their renos look pretty much the same.
It's reality TV which means there's very little reality to it.

It's a little hokier than Property Brothers. I think the guys are more carefree, which is good, but sometimes it's a little silly. Also in regards to S4 Episode 4 "Buying Mom and Dad's House": Just to let Jonathan know that the couples' parents were born in the 60's. I highly doubt their homes are Old Fashioned. If you grew up in the 70's or 80's you are very cool individuals lol. And also, what do they think Mid Century Modern is?? That is a decade earlier than their parents were even born. As in the 1950's; and the Brothers LOVE that style. So not sure what they were talking about with old fashioned. How old do they think their parents are?
Every show they do is always white and gray. Everything they do aways looks the same. Add so me color. You aren't doing flips so it doesn't always have to be soooo generic and look the same as all the other homes... NEXT.
