Recensioni in evidenza
I went in blind when watching this, and was pleasantly surprised. I liked this one more than the first one because it is more mature than and deals with challenges of a coming of age story would represent. I know it's based off of book two by Beth Reekles, but I haven't read either one.
It was decent paced movie despite adding new characters and situations to the tally, all the while still maintaining the spirit of the first one. The way this one concludes, the rest of the storyline will be picked up in the next installment.
I say give it a shot.

I didn't like the first one very much, but watched the second one anyway (my fault I guess!) I hoped it would be better but is dumb, too long (over 2 hours!) and very predictable. There was also possibly the cringiest sentence ever uttered in a romcom EVER! I'll probably still watch the 3rd one when it comes out, but only because I really hope Elle and Lee will FINAL realise how PERFECT they together as they have the best chemistry by far.
2 ⭐'s
The first one was cute because Joey and Jacob were in love on camera so the movie was kind of magical.
This one was so bad. They were so awkward around each other, even 'by the phone', it was hard to watch. Their interactions were just too cringy and uncomfortable.
The plot was meh. The love triangle or square was done horribly.
The 2 ⭐'s were for Joey and Joel, they were awesome together. They should have gone to that direction a.k.a. best friends to lovers. It would have been much nicer.

Wasn't expected
First part went so well but literally second one felt as Disappointed.
If you parent a female teenager - beware. The girls are portrayed as dumb, pitted as enemies and it's only the 2 girlfriends who appear with intelligence. The 2 lead males emotionally ghost the female lead and the advice from their mother to the female lead is: she needs to listen to them. The characters as individuals are actually quite likeable, but the script allows for pretty archaic / misogynistic messaging.
The movie is better than the first- which basically portrayed the lead female falling in love with an emotionally unhinged man, with anger issues. The old 'she'll fix him / he'll be different for her' plot line. The movies show strong family units, yet no parenting or guidance is given to the young men to show them how to respect women, and no one is allowed teaching her what she deserves / has a right to respect. For 2020, these movies are already outdated.
