Mad Max Exposed

7/10

A good look back at an Iconic, cinema changing film.

When George Miller and Byron Kennedy created the first Mad Max movie, much like George Romero and company, eleven years earlier, they thought they were 'just making a movie'. Little did they realize how important this indie Ozploitation film would become. Watching this, hearing the people behind the camera (very few stars of the film are interviewed) reminisce takes the viewer back to the making of the film. How the stunts were done (and one, with a rocket powered car, could have gone horribly wrong), how Joanne Samuel, on one cold morning, wore her Uggs thinking they wouldn't be on screen (they were). The motorcycle crash where Max drives through the gang on a bridge - I'm still amazed that the guy who gets HIT IN THE HEAD by the front wheel of a bike didn't break his neck - it's a very interesting documentary and well worth watching for fans. For those who may read this, my favorite Max movies in order are: Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior in the states), Fury Road, Mad Max and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Every original 'Mad Max' fan should see this documentary.

Mad Max Exposed is clearly made by a driven production team who love this franchise and it's origins.

I saw this doco on a flight recently as part of the inflight entertainment options.

I particularly enjoyed how the director explained that no dvd release has ever included 'behind the scenes' on the original Mad Max and they wanted to create something for fans to fill that void.

It is a shame that Mel Gibson isn't interviewed in this doco but it's a production driven but passion not a big budget and there is no way they could have got him.

The entire documentary is full of interesting and fun anecdotes told by the very people who were there on set.

So happy this way made.

What a Action packed Documentary.

I hadn't seen Mad Max in a while, but when I saw this action packed Documentary. It brought back memories as a child. This Director knows his stuff & is a fan of the genre. The interviews where very insightful, a lot of information about the 1st film I never heard of. They way things where done back then in the 1970's compared to now would never be done. George Miller was such a visionary when he made the first Mad Max. It shows The lead up to each part in this documentary is gripping very well done. I'm sure we will see more of this directors work in the future. I definitely give it a 10/10 Well done 👍

The Best Documentary on this subject

Great film very well made. They did a lot of research and development on this film. Kudos to the Director and producer editor of this Film. Well done it's good to see some very insightful behind the scenes, As when the first film was made there was no behind the scenes footage available. There should be more behind the scenes of films from this era. As there wasn't back in the 1970's I can also tell the Film maker knew his stuff, a lot of hard work went into this project, that's why I'm giving it a 10/10 well done guys hope to see & hear more about your future work. Go see this where you can 🙏

You have to give this movie time to build.

I will say I did not like how they kept repeatins some of the scenes over and over again. The first few times I came up with some jokes at their expense because of it. It has been so many years since the movie that I was listening to someone and I did not know who they were. Some do not look like they did in the first Mad Max movie. Some, they make it obvious in the clips as to who they are, some not. When you get to know who they are and who they played in the move, you start to understand the importance of what they are talking about.

Also, as it goes on they start to pick out tidbits that you just have to go see the movie again. They build until the stills at the end. I wish they had made this movie years ago. These guys were genius. You knew this movie was pushing the limits back then, but the entire movie is like that. I think over the years I took it for granted. Heck, we had the French Connection and movies like that but not to this extreme. Maybe, Bullet.

But the best part. A part that I did not care for in the movie. It just came across as too weird, is the best part of this show. I did not care for Vince Gil in the movie. You can tell how great an actor is when you hate them in a move, and they are fantastic in person or visa versa. So, you get to "know" Vince in this movie and he ends it with his line in the Mad Max Movie. It sent chills down my spine and he wasn't even dressed in character. The turn of his personality from nice guy to horror, show you he has it better now then he did when he was younger. Wow.
