The NES Pursuit is a playful and engaging ode to your childhood. The hunt for toys and (especially) video games take center stage in this fast paced, hilarious, and endlessly watchable series. The show features Riff, Ricky, and a host of other friends who go to local swap meets, conventions, game stores, and other similar locations to find video games and other pop culture goodies. Think American Pickers but for video games and you'll be on the right track.
So, yeah - lots of people do this and upload their videos online. What makes these guys different? For starters, Riff and Ricky are the biggest factor. Eminently watchable, hilarious, and generally fun as tour guides to those hidden childhood memories. Without them, this would feel very different. Second, the quality of editing and production is head and shoulders over nearly all their peers. The fast cutaways, sound effects, and visuals are spliced together into a product that is sort of like what would happen if a hyperactive child were given a camera, filmed his memories, and got distracted by the most hilarious of things and had to share it all with you. And still - it's not chaotic, never overstays it's welcome, and consistently surprises. The warmth of the community that surrounds the hobby that is being filmed is also felt. You feel included, even if you aren't there with them.
Overall, this is a must watch show that will have you digging through your garage/attic/basement, looking for your old stuff, and remembering the days of old with a giant smile on your face. Always positive, a welcome antidote to the tired cynicism that life may be throwing at you.
