Juo ren mi mi

I saw this film in a "Sneak Preview" with about 30 other people, nobody left before the end. Maybe, like me, they were hoping that it would become clear what had really happened and what was imagined; I was only left confused.

I don't understand all the bad reviews. I found this movie wonderful, with a lot of details in sound effects, cinematography, colors and so on. It has a great acting from the main caracter and a dense story with plot twist and a lot of psychological characteristics.

Just watch it with an open mind, mine exploded!!

It's a well shot film, if a little confusing with film within film and then possibly another layer of film with that film. I would have liked to have seen more clarity but that is a minor point when considering the beautiful way in which it was shot, the subtle camerawork and the excellent performances from the main actors.

What shocks most people are some scenes (not explicit at all!) where the actors are degraded. Being shocked at this is like being shocked that animals die before they appear on your plate.

If you want to believe the world is a pure and happy place, then don't watch this film. If you want to confront reality, then here it is.

Putting this film down because it shows reality is simple naivety. It happens. It's real. Face it.

The movie was one of the worst pieces of trash I have ever watched in the history of Taiwanese cinema. Not only was it degrading for women in the audience but as a man, I was embarrassed for my friends that I invited to watch it with me. I was ready to walk out of the cinema but my friends asked me to stay. I apologized to them many times over and insisted on treating them to lunch and dinner.

Another pearl from Taiwan film making. Wonderful cinematography and a story that you want to experience till the end. Watching Ke-Xi Wu making it happen was such a joy - what an acting talent! There some moments of nonlinearity in the story line but these are food for thought and added to the depth of the story. The only question I have is how close the reality with real movie making is, in particular the denigrating audition scenes.
