Vijayaba Kollaya

Compared to recent historical films (except Maharaja Gemunu and Aloko Udapadi) Vijayaba K. is miles ahead in every aspect. Sets and costumes felt real and cinematography was exceptional. Channa and Boodee has done a tremendous job in technical side as always. Music is done by Rohana Weerasinghe, and the name says it all. Acting side is yours to decide.

Talking about cinematography, this is cited as SL's first (complete?) 3D film. Well, the "3Dness" was ok. There's no fancy animations, but decently done. Battle scenes were a complete flop (apart from makeups). Much far away from Maharaja G and Aloko U.

The "Sunil Ariyarathna trademark" though, can be seen everywhere. Dialogues felt like straight outta 60s and songs and dances were completely pre 2000s Bollywood. Except "Singali Noane", that wide shot was fabulous!

Well what can you do, if the producer wants to make money from the film, you have to draw every generation, every class to the theatre. This film was like a Beethoven's symphony, played with more rock instruments and less classical instruments.

This movie is based on vijayaba kollaya book by W.A Silva. It is based on romance during the era which Dutch had been in sri lanka. Felt like hemal ranasinghe is bit over acting while its the exact character of Asanga in story book is reflected by the actor. 3D attempt is good but there is lot of room for improvement.

Great story to go with very good acting and songs(I listened to "singali none" song more than 10 times repeatedly). And that dancing of Chulakshi, just awesome.

Quality of the movie is superb. Scenes the movie is based on the book its more about the love affair. The movie is good. Locations and costumes are perfect. They must have spent so much to get a out come like this. Its better if you can show lot of battle field's fights more for the audience and the three brothers planning their mission to get the Kotte Kingdom. Overall the movie is good. Appreciate the message you were trying to give the audience. Well done and wishing you all good luck. Keep up the good work.
