Launched by industry vets Matt Brodlie (ex-Disney and Netflix) and Jonathan Kier (ex-Sierra/Affinity) late last year with backing from German major Constantin, the outfit is looking to feed into the current boom of content emerging from outside of the English-language that finds audiences on a global stage.

The first three projects confirmed, all expected to head into production in early 2023, are as follows:

Universal Pictures Swoops on Spanish Remake of ‘A Boyfriend for My Wife’
Image
Universal Pictures Int’l Spain has snatched theatrical distribution rights to the Spanish remake of romcom “A Boyfriend for my Wife” (“Un Novio para mi Mujer”), now shooting in Barcelona.

The 2008 Argentine original by Juan Taratuto, starring Adrian Suar, lured up to 1.5 million admissions in Argentina and has been remade in a slew of territories, including Mexico, Brazil, Italy, China, France, Chile, Vietnam and, most successfully, in South Korea where it sold five million admissions.

Its story revolves around a man who finds a rather unorthodox way of getting rid of his lovely but insufferable wife: Finding her a boyfriend so that she dumps him instead. He picks a well-known Lothario to seduce her but the scheme backfires on him.

Directed by Laura Mañá from a screenplay penned with Pol Cortecans (“Bienvenidos a la familia”), the Spanish remake is produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures and Athos Pictures along with the...

Everything New On Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime And Disney+ This Weekend
There’s plenty of content to watch across every major streaming platform already, something everyone has certainly appreciated during the ongoing pandemic. But who would dare complain about even more movies and shows to check out? Lucky you – Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus are all getting new stuff to watch this weekend, and some of it is absolutely worth your time.

Over on Netflix, you’ll definitely want to check out District 9, a film that delicately handles being both a compelling sci-fi action flick and a political statement that tackles xenophobia and racism. If you’re needing something a bit more light-hearted though, there’s always the David Spade comedy, The Wrong Missy, which is sitting at a pretty rough 31% on Rotten Tomatoes but is nevertheless doing exceptionally well with audiences.

If you’re a Hulu subscriber and foodie, you’ll want to check out seasons 37-39 of the hit show,...

Netflix Adds 2 New Movies And 12 New Shows Just In Time For The Weekend
Image
With so many people across the world forced to stay indoors due to the Coronavirus pandemic, demand for Netflix has surged.

Never before has the online streamer been so popular, and to keep its subscribers entertained, the Big N has today rolled out a slew of exciting additions to its lineup of content.

That means from May 15th, Netflix subscribers will be able to access season 6 of Madam Secretary, all three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and sci-fi gem District 9. The latter initially debuted back in 2009 as Neill Blomkamp’s feature film, who would later go on to helm Elysium and Chappie. Blomkamp was then tipped to helm Alien 5 – a direct sequel to the classic Aliens – but sadly, despite a collection of awesome concept art emerging onto the interwebs, said continuation never came to pass and is “unlikely” to happen, after all.

That’s a bummer. But if...

Netflix Adding Over 25 New Movies And TV Shows This Week
Image
This coming week is shaping up to be a good one for Netflix content, and that’s saying quite a lot considering how solid the output has been on the streaming platform over the past few months of worldwide quarantining. If you’re looking for an exciting collection of adult drama and kid-friendly adventures, though, May 11th through the 17th has you covered.

Fans of goofy, occasionally offensive adult cartoons will appreciate that season 3 of Bordertown will launch on Netflix this month. But if that’s a not quite up your alley, or you want something to watch with the kids, you can also check out all three seasons of the hit Nickelodeon show, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Meanwhile, those looking for a classic thriller can check out the 2009 Johnny Depp film Public Enemies. The movie, which chronicles an attempt to take down gangsters in the 1930s, did fairly well...

New on Netflix: May 2020 Releases
Greg Daniels
Looking for what’s coming to Netflix UK this month? Click here instead!

While much of the entertainment world is in lockdown and in danger of drying up their respective content pipelines soon, Netflix has claimed that they have more than enough finished projects and business will continue as usual. While that may seem to be an outlandish boast, it’s hard to look at Netflix’s new releases for May 2020 and not think “man, they’re really just not stopping.”

Netflix’s new releases for May 2020 are positively loaded with new Netflix originals, intriguing recent films, and even some fun new stock TV shows. Office creator Greg Daniels latest project, Space Force, premieres on May 29 and will likely be Netflix’s big blockbuster this month. Having access to Daniels, Steve Carell, John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow, and more will do that for a project.

Elsewhere on the Netflix original front,...
