First of all, Atlee has stuck with his usual winning formula for this film also, a different film but the same format, but there is nothing wrong with that as long as it seems fresh. He wins again in that aspect.
The movie touches upon some important social issues and stigmas and managed to capture the emotions regarding those.
The first half is a feast for the fans. The backstory of Bigil and Rayappan had been played well by Vijay. Sometimes you doubt that it is being played by a single actor, it was that perfect. The sentiments around the father son relationship has been executed and captured perfectly. The first half is filled with mass and class scenes with superb dialogues that you expect from a Vijay movie.
The second half is where the emotions kicks in. This half of the movie will definitely fill all women audience with a sense of pride. With the female anthem 'singapenney' adding to the already grand visual treat. The VFX in the football matches were pretty bad in the beginning but it really stepped up in the second half. The rich storyline had definitely taken a toll on the movie by increasing the duration. Some of the football matches scenes could have been trimmed.
The direction and screenplay was upto the mark.
The cast was perfect. Nayantara deserves a special mention along with the football team. They played an exceptional role in the emotional aspect of the movie.
The story is good, the message it seems well and good.
The music direction was awesome.
Another movie that adds to the winning streak of the actor and director combo.
Overall a good movie.

Bigil - a movie that you expect to see on a Deepavali weekend, which took the usual social message formula pretty seriously. Not only that, the execution got the right emotions from almost everyone. There are tons of things that could've been done better - draggy screenplay, father-son interactions, romantic portion etc. and yet, the film still works out. Reason - Thalapathy letting his girls to do the job!
The latter half was dominated by the girls, which actually made the film happening, apart from the comic relief by Yogi and Vivek. ARR delivered one of the finest BGM for a non-Maniratnam movie, after a long time
The way this man carries the movie, Thalapathy Vijay is surely in his pinnacle of his career.
Witnessing a man making mockery of how unbearable the movie was, and yet staying through till the end credits, summarises the result!
Bottomline - a fantasy commercial film backed up by high production value.
Go for it. Have fun. But, don't forget to switch off your critic sense, especially if you are a football fanatic.

First watch:
Watching it FDFS and the first hour of the movie got so boring that I concentrated only on eating the snacks, especially the romance part was an utter waste, then after Rayappan's entry, Vijay's performance made us not to even blink our eye, it was an awesome performance.
There were about tens of messages unrelated to the content as it was a sports-based movie and the gameplay was very much poor that it looked nearly like a video game and not like a stadium match.
The introduction was fantastic, Vijay's performance was top-notch but overall on a macroscopic level, it was not a satisfying movie.
Second watch: As I knew that the romance portions were not worth watching, I simply ignored it and only by this time, I did realize that only until Rayappan's entry the movie was bad and after that it went really well and the fact that I didn't get bored during the 2nd watch itself is a good one for any movie.

Really hard to say the how much intensively emotions hard to me. The concept that purely succeeded the direction "entertainment". Considering that it's surely a guaranteed flick to start to the intermission, after the turns are gone to some serious incidents but the factor "entertainment" keeps well and to fixed the film tuned a mega visual amaze with the extraordinary star Thalapathy Vijay. Surely you can watch it for Thalapathy Vijay and grand direction of atlee. It's usual but something are really workout because the fair presentation.

First half with mass scenes & Rayappan character. Second half highly emotional which connect all the ladies and their dreams.. Worth to watch
It is third time lucky for us, the viewers, in case of this Vijay-Atlee combo.
Director Atlee presents a decent entertainer which mines the charisma of the star to a large extent.
Bigil also benefits from the fact that the entire movie and the semblance of a story is not entirely buried under the build-up for the star.
In Bigil, Atlee places his star Vijay shining bright at the center of the universe with the plot itself and the subplots merrily orbiting him as minor satellites.
Rahman delivers a rousing anthem and a good score. There is nothing - including the music or performances - that could be counted as superlative in any sense. Still, the entire movie works and doesn't feel like a tedium despite having a runtime of almost three hours.
The fact that this movie remains largely coherent on a whole does not make you cringe despite its runtime is no minor blessing.

Bigil
Vijay shines as Rayappan and Michael. There is no flaw in his acting. Nayanthara's Angel Character was a burden to the film. It slowed down the first half. Vivek could have been used for more scenes.
Instead of Angel and the love scenes, Bigil's love towards football or Rayappan's love towards Bigil could have been showed more.
First half - 2/5 (2 only for Rayappan) Second half - 5/5 Total - 7/10

I am not sure if the director Atlee has ever watched a football game. All the football scenes are pathetically shot with poor vfx. The performance of Vijay as a coach was horrible too. The emotional scenes of Vijay bringing back 2 players were good. And the father Vijay did a good job. Otherwise a very badly made sports movie. This is not 90's you can do better Atlee.

"Sarkar" from Vijay made the expectations high. But this film will not bore you but neither impress you. The Football scenes has less gameplay reality more cinematic shots. The real lover of the game will feel annoyed. This 3 hours film is old revenge story with a cover of Football.

Once again Atlee - Vijay combo dissapoints me. Yes, I used to be a fan boy. Yes, I loved when Vijay delivered mass dialogues and gave me goosebumps. There's this saying in Malayalam which says "Adhikam Aayal Amrithum Visham"(Even Nectar becomes poison if it's too much). That's what's happening with Vijay movies now. He does too much. He tries to be more funny with that weird body wiggling. He makes too much voice modulation while delivering punch dialogues. Everything is just too much.
Now, let's come to Bigil. In a film which claims to be dedicated to all women, Vijay defeats a women's football team single handedly on a 1 vs 11 match. And the heroine jumps into his bike when he asks her to be with him for 10 days. We have no idea why she would like him at all. Atlee copied lot of scenes from some other sports drama. And he made it worse.
Only good thing about this was the character of Rayappan. Vijay has finally done something different from his previous roles. Watch Bigil to see that performance.

Worst Movie in Recent Times in Tamil Cinema. Too Much Lags and Dull Scenes are the drawbacks of the movie. Atlee's worst ever attempt and lengthy duration testing audience patience. Emotional Scenes are well connected.

Run of the mill honestly nothing new 1 time watch. Mediocre. 1st half ok 2nd half predictable sluggish beginning. Doesn't feel & appeal sports genuinity. Rayappan was the good part of the trumpeted hype. Long draggish. Nothing to lose sleep or battle for a ticket. Kanaa cricket girls felt more sports authentic.

The film starts with an introduction of Michael followed by Verithanam song which is picturised beautifully. The romance portions were boring. The football matches were interesting but suffered from poor vfx. Next, coming to the Rayappan character, it was bit forced but still was the only redeeming factor of the first half. Only the entry of Rayappan was interesting for me, but it was ruined in the trailer. The first half ends with an interesting Interval block and the real story begins only in the second half.
The fight scenes in the second half were also not much interesting but emotions covers the flaws to the large extent. The portions where he learns about the antagonist and the subsequent mass scene was fantastic. The police station scene was illogical but good. The episodes of married woman and acid attack victim were touching. The scene where Vijay scolds all the girls was funny and a special mention to the emotional climax.
Cinematography was bliss and A.R Rahman's songs were great but the Verithanam bgm was awful. Cgi could have been better and editing could have been better in the first half.
Villain character is again weak.
A masala movie from Atlee-Vijay combo which can be definitely watched more than one time.

Bigil is a Illogical movie. Football scenes graphics are not upto mark. Goal and pele are best football movies. Vijay act over-acting this film. Only vijay fans like this movie. I was shocked for 7.2 imdb rating this movie. My rating just 3 for this movie. Positives are A.R.Rahman bgm and singapenne song. Negatives are vijay acting, atlee direction, story , screenplay, vfx scenes and etc. Atlee copied many movie scenes.
Kennedy Club movie is better than bigil. Go and watch that movie and reply me.
