Is it a great story? No. Is the acting awesome? Not really. Then why 6 stars? Because I found the entire thing pretty entertaining. While parts of the story were pretty easy to figure out early on, there were some twists which I found interesting enough to make this a better movie than others thought it was.

Derrick Tyler is a successful businessman who loves his wife, but during a trip to Las Vegas he cheats on her with a beautiful stranger.
Upon returning home he becomes a victim of a violent home invasion which leads to an unexpected encounter with his one night stand from Las Vegas. Oh my, he wishes that he'd kept his pants on!
FATALE has a distinct vibe of the 90s about it and could have been a remake of UNLAWFUL ENTRY, a film with Kurt Russell and Ray Liotta.
I realise I enjoy recent work of Deon Taylor (the director): BLACK AND BLUE and THE INTRUDER both released in 2019 were down to basics thrillers, intense and fun to watch. FATALE is such a film, structured around Hilary Swank's character (detective Val Quinlan) it introduces a few surprises in the genre of so called "one night stand" thrillers, but then it evolves in a most predictable way.
The important thing about FATALE is that something is always happening, the action is propelled forward and the film ends in a flash. Whether you like the end result is a different story, but FATALE is the kind of guilty pleasure that you don't really feel guilty about. Hillary Swank's acting is also what makes the film very bearable!
As for the hidden meaning - white cop killing black people left right and centre is definitely a deliberate choice for the writers, making that cop a woman making this even more intense. Black people in the film are also depicted in a bad light, they are either gangsters, cheaters or murderers. Or plain stupid like the main character Derrick. So there we go.
But step away from political correctness and enjoy the movie for what it is - a cheesy femme fatale thriller straight from the 90s.

Really shocked at the bad reviews... I really enjoyed it. Great directing, awesome sets, and the casting and performances were excellent. The story dragged on a little too slow, and either the pace should have been faster and/or some scenes trimmed down so the 102 runtime been around 85-90 mins. The score and cinematography were also on point. It's a well deserved 7/10 from me.

Absolutely boring, predictable and literally shocked to find An amazing actress, two times oscar winner could signed for this nonsense film. No impacting storyline, mediocre acting and confused conclusion. Please dont waste your time and watch something good.

This movie was very entertaining to watch, and I definitely enjoyed watching it. Yes it could have been better written. But it was still worth a movie night. Loved the main actors, the music score and just overall the energy. The plot could've been a little more thought out and believable. But nonetheless it's no where near as bad as these ridiculous critics are saying it is. I don't know what exactly they were trying to expect, an Oscar film??!

I nearly didn't watch this when I read the reviews and saw the cheesy 80' style cover image (nothing wrong with 80's I grew up in 80's) but I thought I would give it a go as I had a few hours to spare
I am pleased I did it was a good thriller which kept me interested all the way to the end and also kept me guessing in places to. Yeah there are better thrillers out there but this one is certainly worth the watch even just for the house featured and the views from it
Good thriller - worth a watch

There was a time when the cinema showed two films including a B movie. Then these dire films would be known as TV movies. Now they are correctly known as rubbish. And where rubbish is concerned Fatale scores highly. Ridiculous plot line and some truly amateurish acting. Swank must be really stuck for work if she gets mixed up with something as bad as this. Dross.

I rather enjoyed this film. I see very low ratings, but it's at least worth a 7. It's definitely predictable, but it's entertainment. Swank was sexy, and believable. Ealy did a good job aswell.

A terrible movie with a terrible story and terrible characters, terrible focus, terrible character motivations, terrible everything. It has no redeeming qualities. And it's really.... REALLY DUMB (1 viewing, 6/21/2021)
I thought it was a pretty good story, good character development. But the backing soundtrack was really out of place and seemed inappropriate for the situations.

I got tricked into believing the fake reviews which were posted the earliest. A fake reviewer described it as a taut thriller.
It is boring n very predictable.
Damaris Lewis is one helluva hot babe but she doesnt get that much footage.
In fact, the 80s n 90s thrillers at least have some erotic stuff.
Ther is a scene wher a guy observes someone planning to get intimate in a beach house, later he goes to another person's home, have sex ther n later goes to the beach house n a female is still in her dress inspite of the intimacy.

The movie was pretty good, entertaining, and kept you interested enough to see what the outcome would be, maybe the haters don't know what a decent movie is, unless it's a 100 million dollar budget and has a lot of PC content, it's a good movie for a lock down, watch it and see for yourself.
I don't understand the low scores for this film! It tackles many important topics without being too on the nose. It's not perfect, but I found the film to be entertaining and I did not know what would happen next at any given time. I really enjoyed the sound track as well as the extremely talented cast (especially the two leads, Michael Ealy and Hilary Swank).
I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of thrillers, especially ones that tackle relevant issues in a tasteful way. Not quite as good as Get Out, but still worth a watch especially if you have HBO Max!

Pretty good psychological drama. I like films with strong female leads and Hilary Swank was definitely that and Michael Ealy definitely delivered a stellar performance. I enjoy seeing films with diverse cast it just makes sense given the world we live in. The actress/model that played his wife was freakin' was Gorgeous. The acting in the film was very good. I noted that there were some parts that were a bit predictable. However, there were times that I honestly didn't know what to expect next so there is some level of unpredictability. Overall It was entertaining and I enjoyed watching it. It's definitely worth a watch.
