Severe reality

The movie portrays the severe and brutal reality of the still very present mindset in the Balkans, which includes toxic masculinity, delinquency, drug-abuse and homophobia, and which can have especially dark consequences for LGBTQ+ youth in these countries. Heartbreaking, heavy and at times very hard to watch, but unfortunately a story which is real life for many young adults.

Consequences

Excellent film on youth detention center . Brutal and powerful. Matej Zemljic gives an incredible performance as a tormented young man trying to find his way in life. The director keeps things tense and involving and it is a remarkable character study of conflicted youth. Saw this at TIFF 2018 and was blown away. Congrats to all, especially Matej who gave a breakout performance!

Leaves me wanting more

The characters are real bad, but they are not repulsive. In fact, I connect with them and feel for them. The story is good. I wish the film was longer. The ending just leaves me wanting more.

loneliness portrait

I saw it as a film about parenthood and the lost of connections between family members. In same measure , as the fall of the prestige of teachers. Not the less, as realistic portrait of a teenager life, reduced as a sort of deep loneliness by parents,social system , society. Two details are real significant for me- the refuge in the yard of kinder garden and the return of money to the Gipsy family. Short, a heardbreaker film about deep loneliness.

A Total Surprise

A film that just gets better and better as it goes along. Acting, directing, story all superb. We don't see many movies from Slovenia, that's a pity if this is their standard. And Matej Zemljic in lead role - is in every scene, a powerhouse performance. (Directed & written by Darko Stante)
