100% Surprising

If we were living in 'normal' times I doubt 100% Wolf would have had a cinematic release here in the U.K. however, without any summer releases from the major Hollywood studios this Australian animation has its moment to shine on the big screen And shine it does. The animation is bright and breezy, the characters are all colourful and likeable and the voice cast is very good too. The chaotic story is fast paced and easy to follow for little ones but is still entertaining for adults too, even though it is a little predictable. It has a positive message as the narrative pushes the importance of what is happening on the inside rather than the outside. Plus there is plenty of silly humour to enjoy for both adults and kids alike.

I went to my local cinema with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised as was my seven year old daughter. It's nowhere near as polished or well crafted as a Disney or a Pixar animation however, it is just as good as anything from Illuminations, BlueSky or Sony Animations.

If you have a young family and you all want 90 minutes of escapism then 100% Wolf is worthy of your attention, especially since there is very little out there at the moment.

7/10 - A solid and enjoyable family frolic.

Pretty good, but the plot is mostly for kids, it's not very family friendly because as an adult I found it boring and too chaotic to watch.

Funny animated film!

"100% Wolf" is a funny animated film for the whole family, an interesting script, cool characters, good animation and a great soundtrack. Totally a great Australian production!

Poor Story

Just waste of time. There was no real story or character development.

Quite Enjoyable

I received free tickets to see this movie, so I gave it a shot. It is no masterpiece, and I certainly don't think I'm going to rewatch it. The animation wasn't exactly on par with the bigger studio's, but it isn't anywhere as bad as some reviews make it out to be. Overall, I found it rather fun and entertaining!

Okay for kids. Makes no sense to me.

It's a PG so open season for adult reviewing. Kids loved it for the fun idea of a ware wolf poodle. For me the plot is so full of holes it bugs me watching it. Based on a book so I guess they must have left a lot out. Or the book was cr*p.

It was a howler of a movie which used clichés poorly.

100% Wolf is a children's comedy set around the premice of a boy being able to shapeshift into a wolf once he is 13. Instead of becoming a wolf he is instead turned to a poodle. As a whole, it is a poorly made, shody film which has a lot of filler. Our protagonist is quite boring and we do not learn much about his character through dialogue. Although it is very cringy it scores some points for its cheap humour which uses clichés and hints to other movies. It overall is very boring and there are no compelling characters, with one of the highlights being the exaggerated character of Foxwell Crepp.

Don't let the bad ratings fool you

I honestly don't know why this film got such bad reviews. Me and my partner settled down to watch this with our kids (both aged 7) after they begged us. Originally we were put off by its low score but it ended up being brilliant! The storyline was funny - both our kids were laughing the whole way through. The storyline is easy for them to follow so no need to pause and explain anything. The only negative I can think of to say is that the animation wasn't as good as some movies but still good quality and watchable. If you're looking for an easy watching family film then I'd recommend giving this a go!

100% Wolf

"Freddy" is the youngest member of a pack of werewolves. By day, just normal folks - but put them under a shaft of moonlight and they become terrifying great lycans. Except, well, when the young man goes to his first ever ceremony, he emerges as a bit of a disappointment. He's metamorphosed into a perfectly manicured poodle. He's ashamed, embarrassed, let down and when his pack-leader father disappears after a mission, he is thought unsuitable to succeed him as top tog. He thinks how knows how to fix things, though. He reckons the power of the now missing moonstone is the source of his woes and he vows to repatriate it with his lost father and rectify things. What now ensues is a little bit predicable, but the characterisations are quite engaging and there is plenty of action. In typical Aussie fashion, it rather bluntly dismisses stereotype and prejudice offering us a lively and entertainingly busy animation. Yes, it's probably about twenty minutes too long but it ends well and as a counterpoint to the much bigger-budgeted Disney/Pixar efforts proves that some imagination and a sense of fun can still prevail even if the look of the thing isn't necessarily the best (I found the characters all a bit too angular). At times perilous, at times mischievous - but usually amusing. Give it a go.

6 yr old engrossed

Few movies keep our son quiet, this one did. No idea why. I didn't watch it so hence I decided to give it 5 rating. If I'd been rating on how peaceful it was for 1.5hrs then it would be a 10

Just don't try to reason anything you watch and it would be fun

It was too predictable but sometimes it was fun. The movie had less on main story but did more good on the mishaps endured by the main puppy. 0.5/2 for the story and 1/1 for the plot setting. 1.5/2 for its comedic scene direction and 1/2 for dialogues and animation. I give it 1/2 from myself.

Unfunny and Cringe

100% Wolf tries to be a fun, family-friendly animated film, but it completely misses the mark. The humor is painfully unfunny, relying too much on childish jokes that fall flat. The characters are forgettable, and the story feels predictable and uninspired.

One of the most annoying aspects is Bruno, a character who adds nothing but irritating, gross-out humor that feels forced. The film constantly tries to be wacky, but instead, it comes across as cringeworthy and exhausting. The animation is decent, but it's wasted on a movie that lacks charm, wit, or originality.

The character Bruno, while meant to add some comic relief, ends up being more annoying than funny. His jokes seem repetitive and don't bring much to the overall story. The film also doesn't offer anything particularly new or fresh, and the plot feels predictable.

Despite its flaws, 100% Wolf is still harmless for younger viewers who may find the simple jokes amusing. However, for anyone looking for a more thoughtful or entertaining animated movie, this one is a bit of a letdown.

Overall, 100% Wolf is frustrating to watch, especially for anyone expecting a clever or heartfelt story. Instead, it's a mess of bad jokes, weak writing, and wasted potential. Avoid it.

Lacking a decent John Dory.

With this film added to Disney Plus it, unfortunately for me, becamse the next film alphabetically for me to watch. Whilst it's not severely lacking in any one area, it's all that bit second rate and really struggled to keep my (admittedly not target demographic) focus on it.

Freddy Lupin (llai Swindells) is a young man, whose father Flashheart (Jai Courtney) is the head of a Werewolf pack. For reasons not really explained, the pack perform rescues and other acts of daring do and Freddy is eager to join them, so accompanies as best in his human form. His decision causes the apparent death of his father and expose the Werewolves to Foxwell Cripp (Rhys Darby). Years later, Freddy is about to transform for the first time and claim his birth right as head of the pack, but instead of a wolf, he transforms into the Wolves hated foes, a dog.

There's a lot going on in this films plot, probably too much if I'm honest. Reading that it's adapted from a book has me wondering if it's actually the plot of several books squeezed into one film. I won't say that I couldn't follow it, but it's complexity, combined with my inability to remain focused on it meant I'd struggle to tell you what it's actually about. The theme is probably seeing the similarities in the 'other' side and coming together, which is noble enough, but in terms of actual plot it's a bit lacklustre.

The vocal performances are pretty good, particularly some of the notable names like Darby, Courtney, Jane Lynch and Samara Weaving, who shows up in the films second half. The musical choices are terrible though. Visually it's fine, the price for full CGI animation has been falling for years and there's now a fairly standard "illumination-esque" style that seems readily available and "100% Wolf" is right in that wheelhouse.

Let's not go too overboard in our abuse of what is essentially a cheaply produced kids film, but it's genuinely lacking in most areas and certainly nowhere near some of the top tier work in this genre.

Nowhere near exceptional

100% Wolf is an animated film with a quirky premise that manages to entertain, though it falls short of being a standout. The story follows Freddy Lupin, a young werewolf who, instead of transforming into a fearsome wolf, turns into a poodle. The film's humor is often lighthearted and appealing to younger audiences, but the predictable plot and somewhat shallow character development may leave older viewers wanting more. Visually, the animation is colorful and lively, yet it doesn't push any boundaries. While 100% Wolf offers some fun moments and positive messages about self-acceptance, it lacks the depth and originality needed to make it truly memorable.

Went there with my 5 old son. He enjoyed his first cinema visit ever, but did not tell anything about the movie afterwards. And I fell asleep 3 times during this movie. Just boring.

Good

I liked it. I vaguely remember reading a story very similar in the past but I really enjoyed the film. It's kind of a cross between The Lion King and 101 Dalmatians with werewolves thrown into the mix.

Animation Gold...!!!

We absolutely loved the movie... Kids were engaged throughout and watched it multiple times. Great to hear Aussie accents throughout the picture! Enjoyed the banter between characters and some wonderful comedy for the grown ups too. Such an enjoyable movie.
