I was a fan of the first couple of seasons of Broad City, so was curious to see what kind of talent Arturo Castro had to be given his own show; and apparently that is relegated to "being that one dude who was on that chick show". For a sketch comedy this is just NOT funny...as in at all. Arturo is completely deadpan and has the range of a light-switch. The writers of this show don't really seem to be connected with Latino culture, modern living or male-female relationships, since their "observational humor" (and that is being generous) is not only unfunny, but irrelevant. Obviously all these high reviews are coming from people who either participate in the show or are friends of someone who does, because NO ONE in their right mind without ulterior motives could ever give this show anything above a 5. It's just bad.

I know that you can't expect every sketch to hit it out of the ball park, but there's so many ups and downs here. Some sketches seem quite funny where others are so lame that I hit the FF button. I really like Arturo though. He can play many characters very well.
As a 40 y/o, un-woke white dude, this show hits all the right spots.
Arturo and supporting cast bring laughs to an insane 2019.
Please, please keep it up.
Paid for by Arturo Castro. I'm kidding.... "Arturo's one of the good ones." 😀 So good.

This show is consistently funny and clever. The writing is fresh and witty. I thought the whole show would be Latino jokes and I wouldn't appreciate it, but I was wrong on both counts. While many of the jokes are rooted in Latino culture, they are all funny and you don't have to be Hispanic to appreciate most of it. There are some jokes that will be even funnier to Latinos (like the passing joke about the aunt trying to use Vick's vaporub to treat her nephews depression after a break up). As a Caucasian I didn't catch this subtle reference until a friend explained that culturally Latinos tend to be big fans of vaporub for the treatment of colds, flus, fever, congestion, etc. It was apparently very funny to a Hispanic audience, but went over my head. The truth is I was probably laughing at the previous rapid-fire joke. Bottom line: you don't have to be Hispanic or even know any Hispanics to like this show and many of the skits have nothing to do with being Hispanic. This is a hilarious show for anyone and everyone. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
Honestly, I anticipated so much less. The Make a Wish/Macklemore sketch was legitimately funny. I rarely laugh out loud at anything and I found myself doing just that on several occasions.
