To keep her spirits high when their son leaves for college, Manhattanite Kate Conrad (Kristin Davis) has booked a 'second honeymoon' with her husband. Instead of thanking her, he brings their relationship to a sudden end; jilted Kate proceeds to Africa for a solo safari. During a detour through Zambia, she helps her pilot, Derek Holliston (Rob Lowe), rescue an orphaned baby elephant. They nurse him back to health at a local elephant sanctuary, and Kate extends her stay through Christmas time. With new love on the horizon, will she return home or make her adventure last a lifetime?

Big kudos on subject matter and handling

This was an enjoyable and very pleasant movie to watch. And I want to thank someone(s) for bringing this subject matter to our screens. Elephants deserve everything we can give them.

Utterly predictable feel-good movie in a beautiful setting

The story in and of itself is nothing original or surprising. The story doesn't make much sense and the dialogue is super cheesy. But it's a feel-good movie and the scenery is gorgeous.

Pleasant moment

A perfect movie to spend a pleasant moment. Good cinematography and acting. The only thing I would reproach is that it doesn't feel much as a Christmas movie. It do not transmit that Christmas spirit, that often Christmas movies does. However, with more than a month before christmas, is perfect to watch in family .

Cute romantic movie. A bit on the sappy side, but does a good job of not offending anyone.

I like the elephant conservation message.

A good way to bring a very important message in a non-confrontational way.

Cute, Fun to Watch

I watch a lot of dramas, SciFi and so forth, but at times I like a break, something easy but not stupid. This movie fit the bill, no I did not find life's epiphany here, just a nice sweet movie. I can see that it's not difficult to have a movie without swearing, guns, fighting, sex scenes and still entertain us.

When Derek and Kate are awakened by Roi the elephant, their vehicle carries a tarpaulin-covered load immediately behind the seats which projects a good foot above the seat backs. As they drive away, the load is now wider and considerably less tall. Finally, in the aerial shot, the tarp is gone and the space is occupied by a spare tire.
