Pleasant time spent

I had a good time watching this movie. At times I feel like it tried too hard to come off as funny or comedic, but overall it has a nice story and I enjoyed it.

Nice movie with some flaws

Regardless of the rigid acting of the main characters, strict script and seems like the director didn't allowed improvisations or the actors weren't capable coming over natural and becoming one with their roles (or a mix of both) and some scenes which simply doesn't made sense the movie is worth watching it with its wonderful story.

Great movie

This was a great movie of love and redemption. I took no notice of the bad reviews as obviously non Christians. Why bother watching a great Christian movie if you have nothing nice to say. Oh by the way God is real and everyone will stand in front of God one day.

🏍 Ride On Marine ~ With💘~ From Tulsa °Good° °6.7°

Sometimes, kids must raise🏗 parents. As long as the parents, in need of same, let them, it can work out. That's just the sort of 🌍 in which we live. We are all in this together.

Tulsa is low budget. It is heart warming, though. In fact, given its budget and the positively Spartanish allotted 🎥 time of 20 days, it's an IA: Impressive🎖Accomplishment. What makes Tulsa truly impressive is that it's based on {an amalgam} of true-life events.

Tulsa is the work of writer, director, and lead 🎭, Scott Pryor. It's his 3rd film. That's just a hobby, though. Litigator is his main gig. He's in the top 1% of America's trial 💰 attorneys, which is a testament to his capabilities. Seriously, one can't be that good without tightly managing presence and connecting to a jury, at the very least. He says he wants to share his faith and goodwill with people while he also shares some of the unbelievable things that he's seen and heard from his clients.

"The characters are fictionalized, and certainly parts of the story are fictionalized, but they were inspired by several conversations I had and cases I worked on. They say truth is stranger than fiction, and if you were a fly on the wall for some of the calls I get and scenarios, situations and obstacles I see, it's all over the map. It's fertile ground for inspiration and really grounds you as a person." The film is about healing. It's about healing through helping others. It's also about faith~ a common thread for many people in recovery.

Tulsa follows Tommy Colston (Pryor), a biker-addict-former-Marine who is being devoured by the quicksand of bitter experiences that have infected /him with bitterness. Self-inflicted damage and open wounds invariably follow. He runs a 🏍 repair shop which has been flirting with success & failure, intermittently, for quite a 🕦. Tulsa takes place in a small community in which e'rbody went to highschool together. We meet Tommy and we meet longtime friend and former schoolmate, social worker Jaylene, at the beginning of the movie.

Tommy isn't in very good shape. Heck, he's marginally in acceptable shape. Jaylene has a little girl dropped onto her lap on a late, 🌞, and previously promising Friday afternoon.

Little girl, Tulsa, claims Tommy is her father.

Jaylene can't go home until she finds a placement for Tulsa, so she takes her right on over to Tommy's place.

'I'm /not allowed/ to take her home. Let's just go with it for the weekend, Tommy. What are you afraid will happen to you?' Tommy has no knowledge of ever fathering a daughter. He does remember Tulsa's mom well, notwithstanding. Jaylene somehow talks him into letting Tulsa stay for a couple 📅.

Tulsa (Livi Birch), ends up ingratiating herself slowly into his life. She's sweet, but tough. She stands her ground. He will not get in the way of her faith, that's for dang-diggity sure - Before passing on to Heaven, Tulsa's mother had developed a deep relationship with God. Tulsa is her mother's daughter.

Livi Birch is arguably better than she has to be, as beau-dorable as she is. She really does a fantastic job. This film was made in 2020, and it was her first effort. IMDB has her on record for 11 additional credits already, including two episodes of Stranger Things in 2022. Clearly, you don't have to take my word for it: She's good. The rest of the acting is acceptable. It wouldn't be fair to blame that entirely on the actors. Who knows what they could have accomplished with more than 20 days?

There's a scene in which Tulsa's visiting the 🏍 shop and getting to know the guyz. They're a bit on edge with a 🍭 little Christian girl in their midst. She's asking them uncomfortable questions. Cedric Greenway, as Tiny, has a time. Tiny looks SUPER (as they say on the plains) uncomfortable. It plays for very good (better?🤔) comedic effect. Tiny is funny😅. Per his resume, he hasn't been able to quit his day job. It's a shame, because he's very good in this, even though it probably is mostly 1st takes. Cedric! My man! Much💘!

I suppose one of the ❔❔ a reader might want answered is: What would a regular chap, who doesn't make an effort to seek out faith-based films, think of Tulsa? The best compact answer is: If you like Hallmark movies, you'll like Tulsa.

At 1st, not expecting much, I was of the opinion it's formulaic and sappy, forgetting the movie is based on real life. Truth is always stranger.. yada yada... They get a pass on that one. Though the music is good, the soundtrack appears ultra low budget, at least per today's pricey, crystalline standards. The editing is a little clunky. The 20 day filming time shows. There's certainly worse ways to spend one's time, and an occasional lifting of the spirit is necessary in these dark days. Impressively, Tulsa reached No. 2 on the Christian All-Time 🎟 Office for self-distributed movies, despite the pandemic's effect on the film industry and the temporary closure of movie theatres.

"I believe everybody has a bit of a tortured soul this side of Heaven, and as a writer, I try to get to the emotions of each character and find their humanity," says Pryor.

Well, can I get an Amen?

Not fit for cinemas

Listen, it wasn't ALL bad. Just the discount Tim Curry lead actor, the gross color grading, the little girl's crying chops, the mixing of the music, the editing, the dubbing, the emotionally manipulative third act...

Whyyyy was this two hours?

Up lifting

It's nice to see a movie that shows love instead of violence. The people leaving a bad review shouldn't watch this type of movie, if they are just going to put down a movie that I felt was well done. I don't belong to a traditional church but I think they showed a lot of good points.

This was terrible! A tent revival at the movies.

Terrible acting! Poor plot! A very 'Jesus' movie that should be played at summer bible study. The story wouldn't even make a good lifetime movie.

Terrible acting....

A shame because a wonderful story. The little girl (Livi) was very good, but she didn't get any help at all. The acting was awful and not believable. Whoever produced should be fired...maybe get in a mother line of business. Too bad

Spoiler Reality: This is not a great movie

"Tulsa" is a production made by, and for, proselytizing Christians. Thus, it is a simplistic religious morality play, and the believers are dutifully posting rave "reviews," pinging their praise off the walls of their theocratic echo chamber. If "Tulsa" had been labeled a faith-based project I would have avoided it, the way one does the mind-numbing, tedious Lifetime network. I'm certain that for those who do feed on religious entertainment "Tulsa" may be great. Based solely on the acting and cinematography "Tulsa" is far from the worst thing ever made, but it also is far, far from qualifying as anything other than religious propaganda.

Kathy's opinion

Loved this movie. All the actors did an excellent job especially the young girl that played Tulsa. Was very uplifting and shows you how strong you are if you have faith.

Cornier than corn on the cob

Less than perfect dad. Wise beyond her years daughter. Daughter allegedly teaching him and ~resolving~ his demons. One boring trope after another. I don't even mind a cliche if it's good, but... this wasn't even "so bad it's good". I say that as a D movie fan. Save your time.

Good movie!

The young lady does a good job as a 9 year old child needing the love of a parent after her mom dies, and the foster mom does a poor job of taking care of her. If you go into the watching of the movie knowing that it has a religious message, you will appreciate it.

Show me a brighter today in spite of myself

I found this film to be very refreshing. Has a human being, we all make mistakes. We all have something in our past we wish we could go back and have a do over. The average person in life does not get a chance to revisit and then get it right the second time around. So we live with the guilt of past mistakes. You know the kind where only grace from God helps to heal and really move forward. That's the beauty of this film: it touches us all in a personal way and makes the stupid moment(s) in our past less overwhelming as we keep on moving forward.

Jesus saves.

Somewhere in the movie, the little girl says, Jesus saves and the man says, I don't trust him. He was right. Jesus did not save me from watching this movie.

A Great Feel Good Movie

This movie was really cute and sweet! It has a great plot and makes you feel all the feels! I laughed, cried, and smiled throughout the whole movie. It's a great movie to forget the world around you and dive right into the story.

Oh God

More sky daddy rubbish. Can we grow up as a species and embrace truths based on evidence. The film is just a bible sermon, the acting very basic, production, film pointless.

Beautiful film!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful film... best Pryor film yet... so rich and meaningful, so much depth of plot and relationship and as we are getting older... yes as Ben Rector says "we're gettin' older..." so much to think about... there is soooo much goodness celebrated in this film but I don't want my review to be a spoiler. I myself like to know the beauty that is coming... and the human mess that is overcome with this beauty... but I will not say too much. But you really don't want to miss this film. The Pryor films increase in texture, depth, and value with each one... I cannot imagine what will be there for us in the next film?

The screenwriter brings so much to the table: the darkness we see in life... but where the light can bring hope and meaning to these dark edges - and he does so in such an artistically surprising manner. You must catch this film quickly... so dearly named... indicative of Scott's soft heart - for his sister... Tulsa, grab it... fast!

Meh and double Meh

Livi Birch is the real star of this film.... hope she does well in life as an actress. Unfortunately the rest of this film leaves me feeling bland and unresolved. I know its based on a true story and this is admirable, but this film ... stinks

Scott Pryor never gets the chance to give us his full acting ability with a such a restricted unlovable wooden character.

In fact the only ones i felt for were the bikers and the nice nurse.

Story is ok if you want to get inspired by the "christian faith" but for me it rather did the opposite. Made me feel like God was vindictive and no matter how many times you say "Jesus died for our sins" when its out of context, doesnt make me immediately want to grab the bible... so that was Boring
