Clifford and all the other characters on Birdwell Island are so sweet, and through their adventures do a lot of social-emotional learning. The animation style is cute and simple without looking low-budget or low-quality. The voice acting is good-- the adults sound kind, the kids sound like kids, and they're all distinct. Clifford's voice is earnest and full of gentle inflection, and his doggie pals' voices are cute without being annoying. I also like the diversity of the characters, and the variety of interests Emily Elizabeth and her friends explore through reading books from the Library boat (an actual boat!)
Something extra special about this show is the music. There's a different song for every episode, and they're all total jams. The characters sing in the style of a musical-- the songs speak to the central theme or conflict of the episode, and move the plot along. So good.
I've seen a lot of reviews slamming this reboot for various reasons, but I really think this one is far superior. The characters are more distinct and three dimensional than in the original cartoon, Clifford and his doggie pals are more Iikeable, his relationship with Emily Elizabeth is sweeter, and the episode plots are far more interesting. I'd say overall, it's got a more wholesome tone and a better production value.
I really hope more episodes are produced, and that someone finally realizes they need to release a soundtrack!

This show is good... to a kid who's never seen the original. To a person who has grown up with Clifford, it just pales in comparison to the old show. I don't have anything against them playing pretend, it's just that I would appreciate it if they would also tie in more of the friendship values that the original series taught. I also don't really mind Clifford's voice because since John Ritter's gone, having the exact same voice is too much to ask for. I am also iffy on how Emily Elizabeth and Clifford talk to each other. I usually like shows where animals and humans communicate, but with Clifford it just seems weird.
The thing I miss the most are the characters. Emily Elizabeth and Clifford are the only characters from the original series (although I'm not sure about Emily Elizabeth's new look). The rest of the cast are replaced by entirely new characters. Yes, I didn't really like Mac and Jetta when I was younger, but I guess the saying is true anyway: You don't really notice how much you appreciate someone until their guy. And yes, I even miss Mr. Bleakman. He was more like Mr. Wilson then a complete jerk.
In conclusion, your kids might find this show interesting; however, I do like the original better.

Compared to a lot of the flashier and more frenetic kids programs to come out recently, this is a refreshing and pleasant experience. We were not huge Clifford fans growing up, but our children love this show and I would recommend it.
I noticed this one doesn't have the bullies and snobs like Jetta, Mac and Cleo. I never knew kids that liked those characters. It's also good that Emily Elizabeth and Clifford can talk to each other and understand each other.
Great show, music is entertaining, can sit and not get super bored while watching this with my 2 y.o.
