Funny, accurate and inovative!

A trans-social media-diva girl fiercely challenges the oppressive system found inside her new school in accomplished Brazilian filmmaker Gil Baroni's extravagantly delightful comedy. Facing the physical and emotional difficulties of transitioning from the big city to the country, and her early trans process, she battles all sorts of bullies with the support of her father and a group of outcasts, while dreaming of a first kiss. With Anna Celestino Mota giving life to the protagonist in a glittering first-time performance and accurately addressing intolerance and equality, it's a magically funny, inventively crafted and honest look at the teen trans world.

Wow! Just wow...

When I sat down to watch the 2019 movie "Alice Júnior" from writers Luiz Bertazzo, Adriel Nizer and director Gil Baroni, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. But it being a relatively new movie and a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I found the time to sit down to watch it.

I didn't know what the story was about, and let me just tell you that I was more than genuinely entertained by what writers Luiz Bertazzo and Adriel Nizer managed to conjure up for the storyline and script for this movie. This was a very wholehearted story, and one that you easily got submerged into.

And of course, the very detailed and fleshed out character gallery definitely helped bring the movie to life on the screen in a fulfilling and believable manner. Especially because the characters were so nuanced and layered.

Which leads me to the cast. Sure, it is one thing to have interesting characters, but a movie also need a good and skilled cast of actors and actresses to bring the characters to life on the screen. And "Alice Júnior" definitely had that. I was really impressed with lead actress Anna Celestino Mota's performance as Alice Júnior. She was just phenomenal in this movie.

There as just something profound and beautiful about this movie, its storyline and characters, and it panned out nicely together on the screen for a very enjoyable movie experience.

I will say that there is a good flow and continuation to the storyline and the progression and growth of the characters. I didn't find a single dull moment throughout the course of the movie.

My rating of "Alice Júnior" is a certain eight out of ten stars. I was more than genuinely entertained by this movie. And if you get the chance to watch this 2019 movie from director Gil Baroni, you definitely should do so. This is a truly unique and beautiful movie.

Finally a positive transfemme movie!

Loved it! It's so cheezy but wholesome. There were some rough parts to watch with the bullying but overall really happy this movie exists! So hard to find movies with trans women protagonists that make me feel good!

Extraordinary Technique to tell story

But a little bit bad of the ending, it almost ended too fast that I fell kind of strange.

Sweet, cute, campy coming of age story

Shows the ups and downs of growing up lgbtq while just trying to be yourself. Moments of rejection combatted with moments of acceptance, confidence, and true joy. Love the fun upbeat style of the movie and the lovely friendships made along the way.

"My mother told me to be a boy and not to argue, but since I'm stubborn I decided to be a transvestite"

"My mother told me to be a boy and not to argue, but since I'm stubborn I decided to be a transvestite" Unidunitê is different... A perfect, out-of-the-box teen movie for teens, a beautiful and delicate approach to being a trans teenager, it enchanted and moved me terribly... The soundtrack is a show in itself, the performance by @annemotareal is another show... I'm already looking forward to the sequel... #I Fell in Love #I Cried #Sisterhood

Alice Júnior is a trans YouTuber surrounded by freedom and pampering. After moving with her father to a small town where the school seems to have stopped in time, the young woman needs to survive high school and prejudice to achieve her greatest desire: to have her first kiss.

Felt like a terrible b movie

I don't know what else to even say other then the pacing was all over the place and the story was almost incoherent. The premise sounded cute but I was a struggle to get through the whole 1 and a half. The trans representation was decent though.

I loved it!

This film was really beautiful and tender. It's rare to see such a joyful film about trans lives and rights. I thought they did a great job showing how small acts of allyship can make a difference and why transformation and growth are part of the human experience.

There were few scenes that were upsetting, but ultimately it showed that one must "confront lions"

The sound track was super fun too! It was interesting to see that Brazil is actually a more accepting place than America in many ways, even though they have some of the same prejudices and bigotry. It also showed that silence will not protect anyone.
