Stomach

"Stomach" is a slightly bizarre and extremely violent Italian horror film about a quiet, shy man named Alex who has manifested what he believes is a monster that appears from his stomach whenever his rage overwhelms him. Problem is, the monster viciously kills anyone who has treated Alex cruelly-which is everyone except for a female co-worker. Initially it seems like it's a monster movie but it's pretty easy to figure out what's actually going on, as it's a trope that's used frequently.

A warning if you're triggered by raging misogyny, sexual aggression and rape. There's a lot in this movie. Starting with a woman being sexually harassed at work up to three separate, violent rapes-which are repeated at the end when everything is explained. So basically we're subjected to having to watch six rapes. I felt that was unnecessary and exploitative and could've done without it.

The gore is actually pretty well done, although a bit much at times. The acting is serviceable, but everyone is pretty much a terrible person and the actors do manage to convey that effectively. Production values aren't particularly impressive but editing is well done. The score is forgettable and unobtrusive.

Ultimately I'd recommend a watch if you like heavy gore and have a strong stomach, but be aware of the disturbing amount of violence towards women.

Stomach is movie that while entertaining enough never really impresses. The gore while plentiful looks cheap. The acting is ok at best. The characters you never really care for. And The story is barely interesting. Everything about this just really screams who cares. Mind you even as much as it's sounds like I'm trashing it, I still say it's entertaining enough for Atleast a watch.
