Recensioni in evidenza
This is a heartfelt movie about complex relationships and friendship/family dynamics, with the added bonus of a gay subplot that is tastefully interwoven.
In general, the problem in most movies that feature gay characters and/or scenes is usually (aside from unrealistic and horrible acting) that the scenes are so full of stereotypes and extremes they become gratuitous and unrelatable. But not in this movie, where the entire storyline is well styled and pieced together with heartfelt emotions by the actors, as "real" people.
The moments of conflict are handled well and totally relatable (I.e., the feeling of loss, and realization that some things aren't possible, is painful and relatable to anyone.)
Yes there were moments that definitely made my eyes tear up, but I would say that overall, it's NOT intended to be a sad movie. It's a storyline that does pull at the heart strings, but not in a way that is manipulative and overly-sad.
Bottom line is that this is a wonderful and well made movie.

One of the "buddy study" or male-bonding genre that follows the reunion and subsequent days of two childhood friends from Sicily, Antonio and Agostino, after 15 years of no contact / lost contact. Beginning in Sicily when the two characters were boys, the drama unfolds as the two regain contact. Agostino is a truck driver; Antonio's life path isn't easily specified by occupation. Rather, it is specified only briefly, identifying the places he has lived. The commonality among them is a drifting of sorts. The film examines their reunion as Antonio hitches a ride with Agostino on a delivery from Antwerp to Venice, at first uneasy, while we learn about the two boyhood friends and how they come back into each other's lives. We see them work through the unknowns of how / why their friendship stopped along the road to recovery. Great cinematography in the stunning physical geography, actual footage along the Autobahn, in truck stops, and a ferry terminal (among others), further enhanced by the outstanding and realist acting by the two male leads.
Although I had been so eager to watch this movie, it was so tedious that I checked the time frequently to reach sooner to the end of the movie. It contains nither interesting story nor any emotional or action or even deep scene. Sorry to mention but time wasting.
Two guys (one gay one straight, best friends from ages ago) reunite, a truck, Belgium to Italy, ferry ride, home - that about sums it up.
Soundtrack is amazing, cinematography is beautiful. There is male and female frontal nudity but not by the leads.
It takes us down a memory lane and shows how we can never hope to recreate our childhood, no matter what ... but are some friendships worth saving after all?

The ending to this film was probably one of the best endings. I have watched in a very long time when it comes to a cinematic process. And obviously that is one of the most important aspects of filmmaking but overall this film is worth the watch that is for sure. I wouldn't go as far as saying this is a masterpiece, but it is awfully close with an amazing story. Subpar acting mixed with decent editing. This is an honest recommendation for this film, and I would definitely say I might even watch this film again myself just to kind of see where the direct missed, but overall, this is a damn good film.
