Foreign film worth the watch

There is a lingering suspense throughout the film. We are not sure what will happen. This is partly because of the world the characters live in and the lifestyle they chose. They live in Colombia which may have a reputation for being a dangerous country....and the characters, according to the title (so this is not a spoiler) are engaged in pic-pocketing. There is more to the movie then robbery and suspense however. Since some of the characters are teens, you have to take that into consideration if you are the type of viewer who prefers 100% grownups movies. Overall it was interesting specifically because we are not sure how the tale would end. Good movie.

stereotypical movie

Would not recommend this one. story wasn't intriguing, i didn't care about the characters and i found it ( especially @ the end) way to predictable. The romance part was kinda good but also very stereotypical. The story didn't got deep or anything.

A parsimonious movie

A Colombian dramatic film. Quality. Slightly parsimonious. There are moments that pass very quickly and others that pass slowly. The problem is that trying to romanticize it and that wastes time. It is about boys who steal and teachings without being pickpockets, and indirectly mix with criminal sides. The problem is that it sometimes shows the true motivation of why stealing. In the first half of the movie, the editing is quite interesting.

PICKPOCKETS: The Most Under-Rated Film I´ve EVER Seen on NETFLIX!

From PASTO, COLOMBIA-Via: L. A. CA; CALI, COLOMBIA+ORLANDO, FL

When I decide to Review a Movie... I often watch it a second time... just to make sure I get everything RIGHT! This is a decision that as relates to PICKPOCKETS... was a very wise one! Seeing it again really helped me focus on a number of keenly important aspects. It is quite obvious to me that Director Peter Webber is the consummate perfectionist! As Director, he seems to have micro-managed practically every detail of the production. I give the film 8 *STARS*... and...for the life of me... Am completely baffled by its paltry 5.4 Rating on IMDb!

Firstly, Looking at the Director´s background, I was rather hard pressed to imagine why he would want to Direct what is basically a Colombian Film, shot in Bogota, Colombia. After pondering this conundrum literally for hours... I believe I have come up with a viable theory! I would bet just about ANYTHING he was given 100% TOTAL CONTROL...Over every aspect of the production! Carlos Bardem (Yes... Older Brother to Javier!) Excellent choice as the quasi-sorrogate father to FRESH (Emiliano Pernia). His business partner in crime and best friend, DOGGY (Duban Andres Prado) projected a tremendous screen chemistry when both of these young Colombian actors were on screen... Which is really for a good chunk of the movie!

Natalia Reyes, the neighborhood Graffiti Artist/Love Interest is one of the MOST in demand Colombian Actors.... And NO WONDER! Her talent would be quite obvious to anyone watching this film! Webber uses the backdrop of sprawling Bogota, with its hundreds of chilly, drizzly & dreary neighborhoods with great effectiveness! Maybe it really helps that he is from the UK!

Undertaking to Review PICKPOCKETS... It occurred to me that perhaps many of those who rated it only 5 or 6 STARs ...perhaps rated the movie without seeing it through to the end! My recommendation is that if you be patient... And MOST. Improtantly... PLEASE wait until the closing Credits before passing any judgement! ....I PROMISE You...Your time will be Handsomely rewarded!

8 STARS! ENJOY / DISFRUTELA!

The story has been done before

Kid wants to live without work. Or whatever. The script does not bother with the characters' past. There is the sexual woman. And the old man who wants to see his family. And the bad guys. Everything is stock or stereotype. In the end the movie fails because the characters seems only excuses to march the dubious mix of christian and marxist values of the script. And yes, it seems there are proletarians even among criminals.

Excellent movie showing reality in our latam countries

As a fan of social movies, this is a great movie showing true colors from our undeveloped countries.

Great acting and very good script.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy movies that resemble our sad reality.

For those who criticize violent movies coming from Colombia, I'd say keep an open minded and enjoy the film. Support your local film industry and Netflix.

Pick Pocketing has existed for ages, and this is the perfect example how they work in our time. My grandpa was victim of pick pocketing during the 50s, my father during the 70s in my beloved country. I will always exist while social inequality prevails in our society.

The fights bothered me much more than the thefts, because it is cruel and sadistic...

Freedom, transgression. It could be set in any country in Europe, or in the world, but it is a Colombian film, a very good one, of which I have seen very few films, unfortunately, a great film about a reality, pickpockets, and all the criminality behind these boys and girls (who are mules/little planes, who only keep a small part of the proceeds of the robberies)... A film for young people, with some romance, drama, action, escapes and chases, a lovely soundtrack... The fights bothered me much more than the thefts, because it is cruel and sadistic...

The drama is set in the capital of Bogotá, Colombia, and follows a 16-year-old street boy who, together with two friends, learns the art of stealing.
