SiriusXM will make it very difficult for ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith to move forward with any presidential run for at least the next few years.

On Wednesday, Smith announced he will start a new daily talk show on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio (SiriusXM Chanel 82), which will pair Smith with long-time friend Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on the channel. The new show starts in September.

Smith will also produce a weekly pop culture and current events program for SiriusXM that will air on a non-sports channel, the company said in a press release on Wednesday. The name of the show, the channel and the air date will all be revealed in the near future.

As part of the agreement, Smith also will host multiple in-person subscriber events during the year.

Smith announced the venture in an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday morning.

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith has signed a multi-year agreement with SiriusXM that will see him hosting and executive producing two new shows, including one that does not include sports content.

Starting in September, Smith will host a new daily sports talk show, which will air on Mad Dog Sports Radio (channel 82), in which he will offer his takes on the biggest sports headlines. He will also create a “weekly current events, pop culture and social commentary-focused show,” which will air on a non-sports SiriusXM channel to be announced at a later date.

Smith will also host multiple in-person SiriusXM subscriber events during the year.

The deal comes after Smith inked a new long-term deal with ESPN in March, which will see him continue to lead First Take, his flagship weekday show, but also allowed him to pursue other deals for programming that touches politics, culture and more.

I love when a new episode of a show picks up right where the previous episode left off, and that’s what we have here, my friends. Remember, last week in Dexter: Original Sin episode 4, Mad Dog (Joe Pantoliano) awoke on Dexter’s (Patrick Gibson) kill table and managed to break free and escape before getting blindsided by a truck while running down the street, and subsequently killed, leaving Dex in his first real “Oh S**T” moment.

The fifth episode of Dexter: Original Sin picks up from where the previous episode ended. At night, Anthony Moretti, aka Mad Dog, the famed hitman suspected of killing more than 200 people, managed to break free of Dexter’s captivity and ran out of his own house to seek help. Dex knew that he’d made a blunder and therefore followed Mad Dog when suddenly a truck hit him and killed him on the spot. Dex knew that Miami Metro would be on its way, which was why he had only 12-15 minutes to wipe the evidence from Mad Dog’s house. Using the tools borrowed from the forensic department, Dex quickly removed the trace of him ever being there. But you see, even though Mad Dog was dead, it wasn’t Dex who killed him, meaning his hunger wasn’t satisfied, and therefore Dex needs to find a new target as quickly as possible.

Harry Morgan (Christian Slater) is slowly losing control over Dexter (Patrick Gibson), and Dexter: Original Sin episode 5 only made that problem worse. The cast of Dexter: Original Sin is fairly large, and each of its characters is so well-developed that they all have interesting storylines to follow every week. While that does make for great television, it also means it can be hard to keep up with everything happening at the same time. Some viewers may need a recap of all the bloodshed and family drama Dexter and the Morgans went through.

Original Sin episode 5 is, as the title suggests, all about mistakes. Dexter had to face the consequences of his failed attempt to kill Mad-Dog (Joe Pantoliano). That meant he spent a large chunk of the episode grounded by Harry Morgan, but it also gave him a chance to connect with Deb (Molly Brown) on a deeper level.

Episode 4 also leans into Debra's season-long narrative as one of the popular volleyball jocks at her high school. While her conflicts are much more common and less violent than the secrets her brother and father, Harry Morgan, keep hidden, Debra's attempts at scoring drugs to impress her friends and snub the mean girl feel like classic high school stunts pulled straight out of The Breakfast Club and Clueless.

The crime drama series Dexter originally aired on Showtime for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013… and even though I had access to Showtime during those years, I completely missed out on it. The show was revived with a season called Dexter: New Blood in 2021, and now a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin is set to begin airing on the Paramount+ streaming service as of this Friday, December 13th, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th. As noted in the title, the series takes to the seas with Goro Majima returning and becoming the captain of a pirate ship. Because of this, Maijima will have two fighting styles, the classic Mad Dog style, which brings back many of his classic moves, and the Sea Dog style, where he sports two guns and a pirate fit.

The late great Bob Newhart wasn’t just a legendary stand-up comedian, he was also, of course, a prodigious sitcom star, appearing in six seasons of The Bob Newhart Show, and eight seasons of Newhart. The latter famously gave us the most memorable sitcom finale of all time, not including the time Alf was captured by the U.S. government and presumably dissected in Area 51 off-screen.

Less fondly-remembered is Newhart’s third foray into the sitcom world: the aptly-named 1992 series Bob.

Bob starred Newhart as Bob McKay, the creator of an old Batman-esque comic book superhero named Mad-Dog. In the first episode, McKay gets hired to work on a gritty ‘90s reboot in which the campy character has been reimagined as a brutal vigilante who literally murders his boy sidekick. Exclusive: The government-backed body responsible for policing UK talent agencies has launched an industry-wide investigation amid concerns over the conduct of certain companies.

Deadline understands that the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (Easi) is looking at the entertainment space, including carrying out inspections on agencies.

Easi declined to comment on the probe, nor would it identify the companies that will be subject to compliance visits. It is not clear when its work will be concluded or if its findings will be published.

Easi sits within the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and enforces the Employment Agencies Act of 1973.

Complaints about individual companies can spark investigations, but a source suggested that the entertainment industry inspections are broader in scope.

Deadline is aware that the Easi has received complaints about two agencies in recent months: Bodhi Talent and Mad Dog 2020 Casting.

The satellite radio giant SiriusXM is planning an aggressive push for a larger slice of the streaming music space, launching a new version of its platform on mobile devices and in cars; lowering its subscription price; and debuting a slew of new channels and shows as it seeks greater market share among younger consumers.

Focusing on the “next generation” of subscribers is a focal point of SiriusXM’s strategy, the company’s CEO Jennifer Witz tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview. However, once the studio became dead set on making one, director Robert Zemeckis and co-creator Bob Gale agreed to come back to make it. Conceived as a single sequel, a script called Paradox contained elements that were eventually split into II and III. Paradox remained the working title for the sequel shoots and parts of that script were used in the novelizations of the two movies.
