Joel (Pedro Pascal) departed The Last of Us via a brutal death at the hands of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) at the end of Season 2, Episode 2, but he returned this past Sunday in the form of beautiful flashbacks with Ellie (Bella Ramsey). Joel is a beloved figure in The Last of Us anthology, but few would argue how his merits as a father help to make him a good person. The most recent episode of The Last of Us introduced a new character, Joel’s father Javier, who is portrayed by Tony Dalton. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann spoke about this change and how it constantly evolved as the team continued to work on it:
"As we kept working on that scene, it became about something else, which is not only generational trauma, but generational repair and hope."

If your movie’s called Havoc, you need to cause some havoc. And who better to bust skulls, blow brains, and hit hard than the combination of director Gareth Evans, and star Tom Hardy? Evans has serious form in wince-worthy action as the filmmaker behind The Raid and The Raid 2, this time swapping martial artistry for the burly physicality of Hardy – as a cop on a mission who’s about to have a seriously bad couple of days.
Evans’ long-awaited return to action cinema is just weeks away – and with the new trailer bringing fresh “oof!”s aplenty, Empire hopped on the blower with him to get a taste of the mayhem. Sorry, the havoc.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii is the next (and wildest) entry in the long-running Yakuza series, and it truly feels like the franchise is now fully unrestrained. Building on two decades of impressive titles, the Yakuza series has developed a reputation for balancing an almost operatic tale of brotherhood and betrayal amid the backdrop of the Japanese criminal underworld, alongside immersive game worlds where anything is possible. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth understood that balance, but Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii takes things even further — and fans of the series will be ecstatic with the result.
Set after the events of Infinite Wealth, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii finds Majima washed up on a tropical island with no memory of his past. Quickly amassing a number of allies, Majima sets out to become a feared pirate captain off the coast of Hawaii. Screen Rant was invited to attend a hands-on...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Dexter: Original Sin episode 6.
Dexter: Original Sin episode 6, "The Joy of Killing", picks up the pace after Dexter lets loose in episode 5. Following the death of Judge Powell's young son Jimmy in Dexter: Original Sin episode 4, a new serial killer is at large and has kidnapped Captain Aaron Spencer's son. Meanwhile, Dexter is quickly doing his part in cleaning up the streets of Miami after taking out Nurse Mary and Tony Ferrer and chasing ex-hitman Mad-Dog to his death.
While Dexter is rapidly maturing at his craft, the series still makes time to capture his youthful spirit, especially during scenes with Deb and his new girlfriend, Sofia. He goes on his first double date as his friendship with Deb grows stronger after last week's pot brownie fiasco. I love when a new episode of a show picks up right where the previous episode left off, and that’s what we have here, my friends. Remember, last week in Dexter: Original Sin episode 4, Mad Dog (Joe Pantoliano) awoke on Dexter’s (Patrick Gibson) kill table and managed to break free and escape before getting blindsided by a truck while running down the street, and subsequently killed, leaving Dex in his first real “Oh S**T” moment.
In this week’s episode 5 recap, we’ll follow everything that happens in the wake of Dexter’s kill gone wrong, including a major f**k-up on Harry’s (Christian Slater) part in court that ultimately sets a killer free, and equips Dexter with the surge of power he needs to convince Harry to set him free. Spoilers below.

The following contains major spoilers for Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 5, "F Is for Fuck-up," now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and debuting Sunday, Jan. 5 on Showtime. It also contains discussion of violence and sexual content.
Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 5 is called "F Is for Fuck-up" because it's all about mistakes the Morgan family makes. Yet as young Dexter Morgan and his father Harry hit low points, the Dexter prequel is on a high. That's because the problems give the characters, and the actors playing them, something new and interesting to do. The show is finding a voice that's different from its predecessor, and starting to justify its existence.

The contract killer named Mad Dog’s been flattened by a car, so what’s a serial killer in training to do? Some clean-up, and Fast. In Friday’s Dexter: Original Sin, both Dex and Harry make huge mistakes that nearly cost them. But were any lessons learned? Let’s break it all down.

The fifth episode of Dexter: Original Sin picks up from where the previous episode ended. At night, Anthony Moretti, aka Mad Dog, the famed hitman suspected of killing more than 200 people, managed to break free of Dexter’s captivity and ran out of his own house to seek help. Dex knew that he’d made a blunder and therefore followed Mad Dog when suddenly a truck hit him and killed him on the spot. Dex knew that Miami Metro would be on its way, which was why he had only 12-15 minutes to wipe the evidence from Mad Dog’s house. Using the tools borrowed from the forensic department, Dex quickly removed the trace of him ever being there. But you see, even though Mad Dog was dead, it wasn’t Dex who killed him, meaning his hunger wasn’t satisfied, and therefore Dex needs to find a new target as quickly as possible.

Harry Morgan (Christian Slater) is slowly losing control over Dexter (Patrick Gibson), and Dexter: Original Sin episode 5 only made that problem worse. The cast of Dexter: Original Sin is fairly large, and each of its characters is so well-developed that they all have interesting storylines to follow every week. While that does make for great television, it also means it can be hard to keep up with everything happening at the same time. Some viewers may need a recap of all the bloodshed and family drama Dexter and the Morgans went through.
Original Sin episode 5 is, as the title suggests, all about mistakes. Dexter had to face the consequences of his failed attempt to kill Mad-Dog (Joe Pantoliano). That meant he spent a large chunk of the episode grounded by Harry Morgan, but it also gave him a chance to connect with Deb (Molly Brown) on a deeper level.

The crime drama series Dexter originally aired on Showtime for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013… and even though I had access to Showtime during those years, I completely missed out on it. The show was revived with a season called Dexter: New Blood in 2021, and now a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin is set to begin airing on the Paramount+ streaming service as of this Friday, December 13th, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th. With those dates nearly upon us, Showtime has shared a behind-the-scenes featurette, which can be seen in the embed above, as well as a clip from the show, which can be found at the bottom of this article.
In recent months, I have been endeavoring to catch up on Dexter, and I have been loving the show. I’m currently at the start of season 7, so I won’t be fully caught up...

In a game seemingly years in the making, at the Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit tonight in Tokyo, the Like a Dragon series announced its next game – Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii , a spin-off of the eighth mainline entry in the series, this year's Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth . As noted in the title, the series takes to the seas with Goro Majima returning and becoming the captain of a pirate ship. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii - Announcement Trailer Much like Majima’s last stint as a playable character, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an action-adventure game much like the classic Yakuza games rather than the modern Like a Dragon games. Because of this, Maijima will have two fighting styles, the classic Mad Dog style, which brings back many of his classic moves, and the Sea Dog style, where he sports two guns and a pirate fit.

The late great Bob Newhart wasn’t just a legendary stand-up comedian, he was also, of course, a prodigious sitcom star, appearing in six seasons of The Bob Newhart Show, and eight seasons of Newhart. The latter famously gave us the most memorable sitcom finale of all time, not including the time Alf was captured by the U.S. government and presumably dissected in Area 51 off-screen.

Less fondly-remembered is Newhart’s third foray into the sitcom world: the aptly-named 1992 series Bob.
Bob starred Newhart as Bob McKay, the creator of an old Batman-esque comic book superhero named Mad-Dog. In the first episode, McKay gets hired to work on a gritty ‘90s reboot in which the campy character has been reimagined as a brutal vigilante who literally murders his boy sidekick. Even Zack Snyder wouldn’t go that far.

Exclusive: The government-backed body responsible for policing UK talent agencies has launched an industry-wide investigation amid concerns over the conduct of certain companies.
Deadline understands that the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (Easi) is looking at the entertainment space, including carrying out inspections on agencies.
Easi declined to comment on the probe, nor would it identify the companies that will be subject to compliance visits. It is not clear when its work will be concluded or if its findings will be published.
Easi sits within the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and enforces the Employment Agencies Act of 1973.
Complaints about individual companies can spark investigations, but a source suggested that the entertainment industry inspections are broader in scope.
Deadline is aware that the Easi has received complaints about two agencies in recent months: Bodhi Talent and Mad Dog 2020 Casting.

It is 36 years since RoboCop blasted its way onto UK cinema screens and made a splash of epic, gruesome, proportions. With that a cult-like following is born and the film’s influence cannot be overstated.
RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is an incredibly methodical ‘making of’ documentary that has now set the standard and an exceptionally high one, no less. It comes as no surprise with the success of their recent projects which include Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story and Pennywise: The Story of It.
The documentary oozes passion and is testament to its directors Christopher Griffiths and Eastwood Allen clear love for the film in a project that has been over seven years in the making.
This four part series spans over more than four hours is nothing short of a triumph, it is forensic in its analysis and brings to life the chaos of the RoboCop shoot and does so brilliantly.

Sony Pictures International Productions and Italy’s Eagle Pictures have announced psychological thriller “Il Corpo” (“The Body”), starring Claudia Gerini (“John Wick: Chapter 2”), as part of their local co-production partnership.
Principal photography recently wrapped on the film, which is co-written by its director Vincenzo Alfieri (“Mad Dog”) with Giuseppe G. Stasi, who recently made a splash in Italy as the writer and co-director of hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Bad Guy.”
Gerini (pictured in the first-look image above) plays a rich entrepreneur named Rebecca Zuin whose death, due to an alleged heart attack, raises suspicions on the part of a police inspector played by Giuseppe Battiston (“Perfect Strangers”) after her body disappears from the morgue. When her handsome young husband, played by Andrea Di Luigi (“Nuovo Olimpo”), becomes a suspect, he starts thinking she may have faked her death to sadistically torment him.

The satellite radio giant SiriusXM is planning an aggressive push for a larger slice of the streaming music space, launching a new version of its platform on mobile devices and in cars; lowering its subscription price; and debuting a slew of new channels and shows as it seeks greater market share among younger consumers.
Focusing on the “next generation” of subscribers is a focal point of SiriusXM’s strategy, the company’s CEO Jennifer Witz tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview. A big part of that is shifting the company’s streaming strategy from being a complement to the in-car offering to something that is compelling in its own right.
“We have a lot of our consumers, our subscribers streaming today outside of the car, and the app was originally designed basically as a companion to what you have in the car,” Witz says. “This is really our first...

Even though he’s been in jail for over a year, nothing is going to stop Young Thug from doing his business — on Friday (June 23rd), the 31-year-old rapper released Business is Business, his third full-length album. Stream it below.
News of the album first arrived via a mysterious Qr code posted to Young Thug’s Instagram last week, which brought fans to a website featuring the artwork for the album (a photo of him in a courtroom alongside several other defendants). After a countdown completed, details of the 15-track album were revealed. On Thursday evening, the record’s executive producer, Metro Boomin, tweeted a version of the artwork along with the caption “I got you for life and after that brodie,” presumably sending a message of hope to Young Thug.

Veronica Ngô presents “Furies,” a prequel to the 2019 Vietnamese-language film “Furie.” Although a prequel, the film follows an entirely different pattern and moves to Ho Chi Minh City in the 90s. Violent and savage, the film is just over two hours long and packed with fight sequences that will leave your jaw on the floor and sometimes have you leave your brain behind too. It also releases at a great time to accompany “John Wick 4” for a weekend full of fury and bloodshed.
Spoilers Ahead
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In ‘Furies’?
The film opens with a dark scene of violence, with dozens of men dead on the floor and a young woman being shot. This is the story of that young woman, Bi. To many film fans, Nicolas Cage is a strange concoction. A figure of hilariously over-the-top acting and memeification when it comes to his rather peculiar career choices. But life was not always this way with Nicolas Kim Coppola.
Before entering the world of acting, Cage decided to dissociate himself away from the connotations that would go along with being known as a ‘Coppola’. In a world where Sofia is now fully adorning of the name in her directorial career, it is peculiar to imagine an alternative reality where there is another more eccentric Coppola on the scene.
His latest role is in York Shackleton‘s 211 as a cop nearing retirement, given the task of taking a troubled high school teen on a police ride along. Nothing could go wrong – right? In true action thriller fashion they run into a huge bank heist and in the confusion the young teen goes missing.

Michael J. Fox suggested it would be fun to visit the Old West and the final installment in the Back to the Future trilogy was born. It's Back to the Future Part III, the movie that gave us a "Mad Dog" and a happy ending for Dr. Emmet Brown. Today, we look at 10 things you missed in Back to the Future Part III.
The Paradox script.
Despite the cliffhanger ending, there were originally no real plans for a Back to the Future sequel. However, once the studio became dead set on making one, director Robert Zemeckis and co-creator Bob Gale agreed to come back to make it. Conceived as a single sequel, a script called Paradox contained elements that were eventually split into II and III. Paradox remained the working title for the sequel shoots and parts of that script were used in the novelizations of the two movies.
