not fantastic but not aweful

Loved the over arching story and some of the individual motivations, but some of the scenes and dialogue were very generic.

No kids movie

I started watching expecting to fall asleep midway. Instead I stayed awake way past my bedtime because the story was so interesting. It's best if you watched Flashpoint Paradox first (which is another excellent movie by the way), but it's not really required. a bit gory, but it's refreshing to see a movie where it's not afraid to kill important characters. Why is DC animated movies so good, yet the live action movies so bad I wonder.

Deserves higher rating

I did not know this was a part of the DCAU franchise when I saw it. I just thought it would be a run-of-the-mill Suicide Squad remake and that's that but after watching it and seeing that Reverse Flash scene I instantly knew, this was definitely part of that franchise.

But now on to the movie itself. "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay" centers around Suicide Squad trying to get an object for Waller (their boss) because she has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. The Suicide Squad risks their lives to get it.

The premise is pretty exciting and actually executed pretty nicely. All the characters had personality and I especially liked Harley Quinn, Bronze Tiger and Deadshot. The action was well done and the movie was delightfully bloody which you see rarely in DC animated movies. Deserves a way higher rating than it has.

What The 2016 Film Should Have Been

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay is an R-Rated animated movie that basically does better than the live-action film from 2016, which despite making a big return at the box office, was heavily panned by critics. The story is good, the characters are accurate to the comic, and there is blood. Lots of blood. If you are looking for something to wash the bad taste of the 2016 film out, this is it.

Ultra violent, good voice acting, nice story. If only the sequel to the live-action movie will do as well.
