It is the first word for define a hallmark film. In this case, it works because nothing significant seems can say about it. Sure, the star is the bakery and the girl. But all is well known. Or...unrealistic. It is far to be a bad movie, but it is not exactly the comfortable one. Something is missing . Something is less or too much. Sure, it is a decent Hallmark, with all ingredients and ornaments. But, it is only...nice. With few drops of indulgence.
Okay, so it is not the worst made for TV romance I have ever seen with Mrs. Shullivan but neither is it the best. The two lead romantic interests are Nikki Deloach, and Dylan Neal, who engage in partnering to open up a bake shop. Of course one of them has to be a single parent raising a single child which may appeal to many broken families hoping that they can realize the same happy ending this couple does.
A more sincere interest in how real life (and real romance) actually works would have been appreciated. My biggest complaint about the film is the nauseating musical score which sounds more cartoonish than romantic. I did like the cast of characters in this made for TV film and a happy ending is always welcome so I will give the film a better than average IMDB rating (for a TV romance film) of 6 out of 10.
Nothing special, but a decent time waster, none the less

I'm not a Hallmark regular. Fairly new actually. I do love baking or cooking novels and movies. This did not disappoint with usual Hallmark expectations. The main actors were great at not OVER cheesing it like usual. The story was pretty close to the book. I really did enjoy the cute story and loved seeing a bit more diversity in the main co-stars friends at least this time.
Eric and Natalie jointly inherit a piece of property from Eric's aunt Bee, well...Eric inherits the commercial bakery on the front of the property and Natalie inherits the carriage house in the back.
The obvious solution is to sell the property and split the profits...only snag is it is on the historic registry and no one wants to buy it.
Great idea, open the bakery and restore it to its old glory...I mean Natalie is a baker.
Sweet romance filled with beautiful looking baked goods and a cute Italian bakery.
I am glad they didn't make a big deal about Natalie's past with her ex-David. We get it he's bad and Eric is good, moving on. 😊
I also thought it was pretty Hilarious that the actor who played Eric and couldn't bake...plays the Gourmet Detective on another Hallmark series.

What sets apart a good Hallmark movie from a pleasant so-so film , is the chemistry between the 2 leads. If you don't get that right then the film can flounder into being just a clichéd corny drama. Nikki Deloach & Dylan Neal are good actors and their dialogue is sparky, but there's little romantic connection between them. Maybe it's me but Dylan looks a lot older than Nikki (in real life there's a 10 year age gap) . The story had merit, about them inheriting his Aunt's bakery & transforming it into a cupcake bakery and all the hurdles, financial and otherwise that enter their path. Most Hallmark aficionados will like the film and it moves along well - just not much romance in the air !

- QuizThe bakery is played by the Ivana Teahouse in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
- BlooperThat's not what cake batter looks like. Any cupcake made with batter that thick and heavy would have a dense texture instead of a light texture.
