And Then It Goes Dark

Found footage usually lacks the atmosphere for me because it seems like they usually don't use sound effects, music etc. I loved that And Then it Goes Dark did. It sets the mood and helps carry over some of the slower parts. And I loved that there were hints of humor throughout. Great work!

No Hollywood budget yet better jumps and story than the "Ghost Shows." Don't go in expecting an over produced Hollywood jump scare but the genius of this film is that it really did happen. Why Blumhouse hasn't done an actual haunted house setup is beyond me....and is also probably why they were interested in this project.

Because this footage was real there are actually parts they did not even address where you can find more paranormal evidence. If you slow down the footage when they are walking back to Austin's room right after the camera turned on by itself you can see the face of a little girl near the camera. It freaked me out.

The location is stunning, cinematography is great, and I heard this was a true story. Regardless if it was or not, there was never a point when I doubted what I was watching. Most of the time in found footage or any low budget film there are moments when the acting is so bad that it brings you out of the moment. This was never the case here, so if it wasn't real, that was some great acting.

It's hard to make a good film on a small budget. When I saw that they only spent $1500, and that was to rent the location...I did not have high hopes. But I was pleasantly surprised! This is definitely worth the watch, especially since it's free to watch on youtube lol :)
