A Simple,Feel-Good Movie

Only once in a while we get to see a movie that will let you come out of the theaters with a lasting smile on our face! Jis Joy's second directorial "Sunday Holiday" is undoubtedly one among such feel-good movies that doesn't resort to any kind of over-the-top elements to make it look phenomenal, but provides some sort of inherent positive vibe once you are done with the movie.

One cannot reject the fact that it's a pretty ordinary flick if we go deep into the storyline with easily notable flaws like the presence of too many inconsequential sub-plots focusing on under- developed characters, the lack of freshness in the basic plot and of course the old-school approach to the "cinema within cinema" pattern of storytelling which all acts as stumbling blocks in the movie being a complete success. But,here fortuantely the positives outweigh the negatives by a good margin making it a pretty decent feel-good movie that's sure to offer a breezy watch for the cinema lover inside you.

On the positive side,"Sunday Holiday" nonetheless offers the viewers a satisfactory watch, thanks to elements of natural humor, good performances from the cast and the hearty aura of optimism that's spread through the narration.Notably, there were at least half a dozen of stand-out dialog bits that opened upon the optimistic outlook that one needs to possess for a successful and happy life,in harmony with the society.

Asif Ali was in great form enacting the role invested in him with dedication and required perfection.Aparna Balamurali and Sreenivasan were impressive. The forced comic sequences helmed by Dharmajan Bolgatty failed to evoke laughs, but was managed upto an extend by natural humor in the storyline.

Songs and musical score by Deepak Dev were good and complimenting the narrative. The technical crew did their part well.

Overall,Sunday Holiday is a paisa-vasool feel good flick worth a try from the cinema near you!

A real simple movie - Sad that it rather went unnoticed

Sunday Holiday is really a simple movie. The best part is the script and the way the director took this ahead. What a positive mood to watch such a nice movie. I rather feel sad that this movie rather unnoticed. Sreenivasan though does not come in many scenes but has played his part very well and again a refreshing appeal; same with Asha Sharath, Aparna, Alencier.

Dharmajan proves his talent in this movie as he got good screen presence. Whenever I see the scene from Sudheer Karamana I get memories about his father Karamana Janardhanan (what a great actor he was in his era).

Asif Ali also needs a special mention as he carried his role in a subtle way; at times a tinge of actor Surya in him.

'Sunday Hoiday' - Simple yet beautiful

'Sunday Holiday' is a simple yet beautiful film by Jis Joy.

Even though the first half is a bit slow, the film picks up pace towards the interval and the director did well to make the second half more engaging and filled with some thrilling moments.

Aparna Balamurali has delivered a splendid performance, maybe the kind of one we saw in 'Maheshinte Prathikaram'. Her charming screen presence is one of the bright spots if not the best of the lot.

Asif Ali has given justice to his performance so did Siddique, Dharmajan and Sreenivasan.

Alansier had a small role to play but he made it interesting with yet another sublime performance.

For who thought 'By Cycle Thieves' was a one time wonder from Jis Joy, the writer-director has proved them wrong by giving a movie to remember. He has made giant strides after starting his career as a dubbing artist. (Yes, he has come a long way after dubbing for Allu Arjun in Malayalam movies).

What are you waiting for? Go and book your seats for 'Sunday Holiday'.

Definitely worth a watch

Enjoyed the movie as a whole, in fact the only bad thing about the movie is Deepak Dev's music. The suspense was awesome!

A good movie watchable with family

Was surprised to read the reviews - all the reviews are in appreciation of the movie "Sunday Holiday". And after seeing the movie i am also joining the band-wagon of these appreciators. The highlights of the movies are : very meaningful and philosophical dialogues, good acting by the entire cast, good flow in the narration of the story, good soft and melodious songs. And the movie has lot of unexpected twists. A movie really worth watching with the family members.

Capsule Review: Sunday Holiday

One of the main characters in Sunday Holiday lands a job in a new town. Instead of negotiating the remuneration, he turns it down completely just because. While you spend more than two hours wondering why he did that and how he's making his ends meet, the film scrambles itself and tries to project few things about human relationships, romance, fate, and the hardship of door-to-door sales. Asif Ali is hungover as the salary-hater whose life changes for good when he meets another salesperson played jubilantly by Aparna Balamurali. Together, they fool around a bit, as they gradually get closer and surprise each other. An irrelevant side story involves a bag containing wads of cash that travels aimlessly and makes you wonder what's going on really. Comedy man Dharmajan Bolgatty is at his usual play and the existence of characters played by him and Siddique and Sudheer Karamana are what makes Jis Joy's Sunday Holiday a pointless film. The only good parts are Balamurali's performance and the climax that is slightly off-beat for what it succeeds. While you can catch the former in Dileesh Pothan's Maheshinte Prathikaram, there's no need to invest your time just for the latter. Sunday Holiday is average at best at saying nothing specific. TN.

a gem

I always feel asif live in role, also aparna whom i saw in maheshinte prathikaram, felt that time she do go on bigger rounds, but her multi talented attributes make her stay awesome throughout the movie.

Watched this movie multiple times, but each time used to feel the freshness always stay as it is.

Such a wonderful movie easily make our heart melts.

If you really get the base of the film, happy tears is guaranteed at end of the film.

May be underrated gem this movie is!

Aparna and asif really rocked the role, also even though screen presence is less for sreenivasan and asha they really nailed the role.

Terrible

If you want to sedate yourself and your family, go for this mess. Boring. No substantial plot or character.
