With a struggling bookshop, an overworked husband and two misunderstood teenagers, Emma (Emily Watson) is at her wit's end trying to be the perfect mom. After dragging her family to a costume party on Halloween night, they are cursed by an evil witch and transformed into a Vampire, Mummy, Werewolf and Frankenstein's monster. Now Emma will fight to keep her Monster Family together and uncover the secret of their curse... eventually leading them to the Prince of Darkness himself, Dracula (Jason Isaacs)!

Left my family less than happy

Extremely poor. Voiceovers dreadful, storyline pityful; not sure adultery really makes for good family viewing.

Not so good movie as I expected

I didn't ear nothing about this movie until I saw it in the cinemas and for the rating I saw here I really expected a much better movie. Can't deny the excellent quality of the animation, I really enjoyed to see such a good work, but the story wasn't really so good. The movie is funny sometimes, it made me smile a few times and I think my kids liked it, but I've seen much better animated movies with not so good animation but with a much better story. It's good to see other productions not only from Hollywood but please, don't try to make us think that just a well done animation can make a good movie. Maybe next time.

Movie worth a watch

This movie is not worth the 1 & 2 star ratings. It is not one of the best animated movies, but I have seen worse.

The animation is really good. There's some interesting character designs and beautiful environments.

There's some funny bits across the movie (not the farting jokes! - it was so overused) & the drama is a little over the top at times, but overall it is just a fun movie.

What is going on with the voices

I'm watching it right now on Netflix with my kids and I started Googling to see if this was originally in another language, but it doesn't appear so. The animation to match mouth movement and voice acting is sooooo bad. At first I was surprised it wasn't too low-budget looking (I don't think this went to theaters in the US), but they need to tune up this aspect. My kids will watch almost anything so they seem unfazed, but really poor quality.
